In light of the current discrepancies between the recent predictions based on QCD factorisation (QCDF) and the experimental data for several non-leptonic colour-allowed two-body B-meson decays, we obtain new determinations of the non-factorisable soft-gluon contribution to the decays ( {overline{B}}_s^0to {D}_s^{+}{pi}^{-} ) and ( {overline{B}}^0to {D}^{+}{K}^{-} ), using the framework of light-cone sum rule (LCSR), with a suitable three-point correlation function and B-meson light-cone distribution amplitudes. In particular, we discuss the problem associated with a double light-cone (LC) expansion of the correlator, and motivate future determinations of the three-particle B-meson matrix element with the gluon and the spectator quark aligned along different light-cone directions. Performing a LC-local operator product expansion of the correlation function, we find, for both modes considered, the non-factorisable part of the amplitude to be sizeable and positive, however, with very large systematic uncertainties. Furthermore, we also determine for the first time, using LCSR, the factorisable amplitudes at LO-QCD, and thus the corresponding branching fractions. Our predictions are in agreement with the experimental data and consistent with the results based on QCDF, although again within very large uncertainties. In this respect, we provide a rich outlook for future improvements and investigations.

Eternal traversable wormholes in three dimensions 三维空间中可永恒穿越的虫洞

We consider three-dimensional gravity with negative cosmological constant coupled to a large number of light matter fields dual to relevant operators. By imposing suitable boundary conditions on the matter fields we find eternal traversable wormhole deformations of the BTZ black hole, leading to a three-dimensional analogue of the AdS2 eternal traversable wormhole found by Maldacena and Qi. We further identify the field theory of boundary gravitons in this setting, which we then use to compute the spectrum of gravitational fluctuations.

Fusion of conformal defects in interacting theories 相互作用理论中保元缺陷的融合

We study fusion of two scalar Wilson defects. We propose that fusion holds at a quantum level by showing that bare one-point functions are the same. This is an expected result as the path integral is invariant under fusion of the two defects. The difference instead lies in renormalization of local quantities on the defects. Those on the fused defect takes into account UV divergences in the fusion limit when the two defects approach eachother, in addition to UV divergences in the coincident limit of defect-local fields and in the near defect limits of bulk-local fields. At the fixed point of the corresponding RG flow the two conformal defects have fused into a single conformal defect identical to one of the original scalar Wilson defects.

We begin with an E8 × E8 Heterotic model broken to an SU(5)gauge × U(1)X and a twin SU(5)gauge × U(1)X, where one SU(5) and its spectrum is identified as the visible sector while the other can be identified as a hidden twin sector. In both cases we obtain the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) spectrum after Wilson-line symmetry-breaking enhanced by a low energy R-parity and ( {mathbb{Z}}_4^R ) symmetry. We argue that there will not be any observable proton decay in this model.

On the initial singularity and extendibility of flat quasi-de Sitter spacetimes 关于平坦准德西特空间的初始奇异性和可扩展性

Inflationary spacetimes have been argued to be past geodesically incomplete in many situations. However, whether the geodesic incompleteness implies the existence of an initial spacetime curvature singularity or whether the spacetime may be extended (potentially into another phase of the universe) is generally unknown. Both questions have important physical implications. In this paper, we take a closer look at the geometrical structure of inflationary spacetimes and investigate these very questions. We first classify which past inflationary histories have a scalar curvature singularity and which might be extendible and/or non-singular in homogeneous and isotropic cosmology with flat spatial sections. Then, we derive rigorous extendibility criteria of various regularity classes for quasi-de Sitter spacetimes that evolve from infinite proper time in the past. Finally, we show that beyond homogeneity and isotropy, special continuous extensions respecting the Einstein field equations with a perfect fluid must have the equation of state of a de Sitter universe asymptotically. An interpretation of our results is that past-eternal inflationary scenarios are most likely physically singular, except in situations with very special initial conditions.

We study the exclusive diffractive ( coverline{c} ) photoproduction in ultraperipheral pA collisions. The formalism makes use of off-diagonal generalizations of the unintegrated gluon distribution, the so-called generalized transverse momentum dependent distributions (GTMDs). We present two different formulations. The first one is based directly on gluon GTMD parametrizations in momentum space. Another option is the calculation of the GTMD as a Fourier transform of the dipole-nucleon scattering amplitude N(Y, ( overrightarrow{r} ), ( overrightarrow{b} )). The latter approach requires some extra regularization discussed in the paper. Different dipole amplitudes from the literature are used. Compared to previous calculations in the literature, we integrate over the full phase space and therefore cross sections for realistic conditions are obtained. We present distributions in rapidity of c or ( overline{c} ), transverse momentum of the ( coverline{c} ) pair, four-momentum transfer squared as well as the azimuthal correlation between a sum and a difference of the c and ( overline{c} ) transverse momenta. The azimuthal correlations are partially due to the so-called elliptic gluon Wigner distribution. Different models lead to different modulations in the azimuthal angle. The modulations are generally smaller than 5%. They depend on the range of transverse momentum selected for the calculation.

Much insight into the dynamics of quantum field theories can be gained by studying the relationship between field theories in different dimensions. An interesting observation is that when two theories are related by dimensional reduction on a compact surface, their ’t Hooft anomalies corresponding to continuous symmetries are also related: the anomaly polynomial of the lower-dimensional theory can be obtained by integrating that of the higher-dimensional one on the compact surface. Naturally, this relation only holds if both theories are even dimensional. This raises the question of whether similar relations can also hold for the case of anomalies in discrete symmetries, which might be true even in odd dimensions. The natural generalization to discrete symmetries is that the anomaly theories, associated with the lower and higher dimensional theories, would be related by reduction on the compact surface. We explore this idea for compactifications of 5d superconformal field theories (SCFTs) to 3d on Riemann surfaces with global-symmetry fluxes. In this context, it can be used both as a check for these compactification constructions and for discovering new anomalies in the 5d SCFTs. This opens the way to applying the same idea of dimensional reduction of the anomaly theory to more general types of compactifications.

The energy-energy correlator (EEC) is an observable of wide interest for collider physics and Standard Model measurements, due to both its simple theoretical description in terms of the energy-momentum tensor and its novel features for experimental studies. Significant progress has been made in both applications and higher-order perturbative predictions for the EEC. Here, we analyze the nature of the asymptotic perturbative series for the EEC by determining its analytic form in Borel space under the bubble-sum approximation. This result provides information on the leading and subleading nonperturbative power corrections through renormalon poles. We improve the perturbative convergence of the ( overline{textrm{MS}} ) series for the EEC by removing its leading renormalon using an MSR scheme, which is independent of the bubble-sum approximation. Using the leading MSR scheme power correction determined by fits to thrust, we find good agreement with EEC OPAL data already at ( mathcal{O} )(( {alpha}_s^2 )).

We study two-dimensional non-linear sigma models with (2,2) supersymmetry and a holomorphic superpotential that are believed to flow to unitary compact (2,2) superconformal theories with central charges cL = cR = 9. The SCFTs have a set of marginal deformations, and some of these can be realized as deformations of parameters of the UV theory, making it possible to apply techniques such as localization to probe the deformations of the SCFT in terms of a UV Lagrangian. In this work we describe the UV lifts of the remaining SCFT infinitesimal deformations, the so-called non-toric and non-polynomial deformations. Our UV theories naturally arise as geometric phases of gauged linear sigma models, and it may be possible to extend our results to find lifts of all SCFT deformations to the gauged linear sigma model.

We compute the disk amplitude of three closed strings in the pure spinor formalism. Among others, this amplitude probes tree-level gravitational interactions in the presence of Dp-branes. After disentangling holomorphic and anti-holomorphic closed string coordinates on the disk by means of introducing monodromy phases we find a compact expression for the disk amplitude of three closed strings in terms of open superstring six-point amplitudes. Furthermore, we provide the low-energy expansion (in the inverse string tension) of our amplitude and discuss some relevant Dp-brane couplings associated to it. Finally, we write down an expression for the general structure of the disk amplitude of any number nc of closed strings in terms of pure open string amplitudes involving 2nc open strings.
