Results: 97 children were included in the study. 61,4% of the children had esotropia (ET), while 35.9% had exotropia (XT). In each group, the magnitude of deviation was classified in smaller (<) or equal/ greater (≥) then 30 prismatic diopters. When analyzing the functional and the psychosocial scores of the groups separated by the type of strabismus and magnitude of deviation, the average score of the group with esotropia and the patients with larger deviations were worse. The correlation value between the psychosocial and functional scores was 200.656 (p <0.01).

Objective: To determine the epidemiology and prevalence of myopic maculopathy and pathologic myopia and associated risk factors. Methods: This is a retrospective cross-sectional observational study performed at an ophthalmology center, including 59 patients aged 7 to 70 years, and spherical equivalent higher than -6 diopters. Their retinographies were assessed by two ophthalmologists and an experienced retina specialist, using the META-PM study classification. Statistical analysis was performed using Matlab R2010, Excel 2010 and Statistical Package for the Social Sciences version 20.0, based on the result of multiple binary logistic regression analysis. Results: According to META-PM, the prevalence of myopic maculopathy in 100 eyes analyzed was 19% C0; 53% C1; 18% C2; 2% C3; 8% C4.The prevalence of pathologic myopia was 39%, and 37% of these eyes having myopic maculopathy category C1 with lesions plus, C2 or worse, or posterior staphyloma, and 2% in category smaller than C2, without lesions plus, but with posterior staphyloma.Multiple binary logistic regression analysis revealed an association between age and spherical equivalent inpathologic myopia (p<0.05), demonstrating the increase by 1 year in age implied in 1.05-fold (odds ratio=1.05) more likelyto present pathologic
Statistical Package for the Social Sciences version 20.0对多元二元logistic回归分析结果进行统计分析。

Purpose: To evaluate the cost-utility of the iStent inject ® for the treatment of mild-to-moderate open- angle glaucoma (OAG) within the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS). Methods: A Markov model was developed, in which the effectiveness outcome measure was the incremental cost-effectiveness ratio (ICER: R$ / QALY quality-adjusted life-year). Direct medical costs were obtained from the SUS perspective. The base case comprised of a hypothetical cohort of patients with OAG using topical medication and being managed according to the Clinical Protocol and Therapeutic Guidelines (PCDT) and a real-world setting based on data from Datasus. The model’s robustness through sensitivity analyses was tested. Results: In the PCDT base case setting, the trabecular micro-bypass implant provided gains of 0.47 QALYs and an ICER of R$7,996.66/QALY compared to treatment with topical medication. In the real-world setting based on data from Datasus, the trabecular micro-bypass implant, provided gains of 0.47 QALYs and an ICER of R$4,485.68/QALY compared to treatment with topical medication. The results were robust to sensitivity analyses. Conclusion: Incorporating iStent inject® to SUS provides an improvement in the patient’s quality of life with an additional cost that warrants the benefit provided to patients. Results may be considered cost-effective compared to topical medication.

Optical coherence tomography is often used for detection of glaucoma as well as to monitor progression. This paper reviews the most common types of artifacts on the optical coherence tomography report that may be confused with glaucomatous damage. We mainly focus on anatomy-related artifacts in which the retinal layer segmentation and thickness measurements are correct. In such cases, the probability maps (also known as deviation maps) show abnormal (red and yellow) regions, which may mislead the clinician to assume disease is present. This is due to the anatomic variability of the individual, and the normative database must be taken into account.
