Given nursing's interest in health policies, the authors present a discussion of costs associated with health policies. Three examples of these costs are adolescent use of vaping and e-cigarettes, international guidelines for hypertension diagnosis and treatment, and medical aid in dying.

Patterning the mutual human-environment process for wellbecoming of all living beings and the planet is a unitary conceptualization proposed by Rogerian scholar, Dr. Violet M. Malinski. In this scholarly dialogue column, she and her colleague, nurse scholar Dr. Donna J. Perry, discuss why this conceptualization is important to them, the theoretical, philosophical, and research underpinnings, and other related human-environment topics.

The investigation aimed to explore the universal humanuniverse living experience of feeling sad using Parsesciencing, which is a unique mode of inquiry within the humanbecoming paradigm. The historians were 10 English-speaking adults aged 18 and older, willing to share their experiences of feeling sad. The inquiry stance was: What is the discerning extant moment of the universal humanuniverse living experience of feeling sad? The major discovery of this Parsesciencing inquiry was the discerning extant moment: Feeling sad is profound discomfort with disengaging from affiliations surfacing with promising new insights.

The purpose of this study was to explore trust in nurse-patient relationships from the perspectives of Generation Z nursing students. Eligible and consented participants were interviewed one-on-one via a semistructured interview questionnaire with audio recordings. Data analysis was completed by directed content analysis. Three themes emerged from the data: caring, communication, and competencies. Participants felt well prepared to develop nurse-patient trusting relationships with their future patients. However, they anticipated challenges in building trust with the older generations of patients. The study confirms Generation Z nursing students' altruistic professional values and readiness to develop trust in a nurse-patient relationship.

In a world filled with clatter, chatter, and noises of all sorts, as well as advancing technologies that increasingly put up barriers of distance and time between persons, including ideologic differences that seemingly block communication before it starts, the notion of listening is laden with innuendo and meaning. In this column, the gift of listening in teaching-learning was explored, gleaning insights from the arts and experiences in teaching-learning. In discussing the importance of listening in the teaching-learning of nursing, the humanbecoming teaching-learning model provided the foundation for suggestions for teachers of nursing to consider.

Emerging adults with type 1 diabetes (T1D) are vulnerable to diabetes distress, decreased diabetes self-care, and decreased well-being due to simultaneously managing complex self-care demands and meeting developmental goals. Self-transcendence is an inherent human process that helps to mitigate vulnerability and promote a sense of well-being. The purpose of this qualitative descriptive study was to describe the perspectives and behaviors of emerging adults with T1D that reflected self-transcendence and how this process facilitated their diabetes self-care. Twenty-nine emerging adults were interviewed and described self-transcendence inspired perspectives and behaviors that facilitated their diabetes self-care and promoted a sense of well-being. Self-transcendence serves as a potential resource for mitigating vulnerability in living with T1D and for enhancing positive health outcomes.
