The purpose is to report an exploration of published research explicitly identifying Rogers' science of unitary human beings as the theoretical context underlying quantitative research or the interpretation of qualitative data. Two databases (CINAHL and Medline Complete) were used to identify studies published from 2013 to 2023 with the search term "Rogers' science of unitary human beings." The search was narrowed by the descriptors "English language" and "research." The results included nine studies meeting the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The findings are discussed in light of two earlier reviews and in terms of the science.

The current transition from the nursing process to the clinical judgment model in nursing education is an opportunity to regenerate the original nursing process in a significant way. This article proposes to enhance the conceptual rigor of the nursing process by integrating nursing conceptual knowledge throughout its steps. The resulting Nursing Process 2.0 is a framework that supports critical thinking skills that underlie the clinical judgment model from a grounding in nursing conceptual knowledge.

Smartphone Mental Health Application Use Among Thai Older Adults: A Thematic Analysis Guided by Locsin's Theory of Technological Competency as Caring in Nursing.
IF 1.1 4区 医学 Q3 NURSING Pub Date : 2025-07-01 Epub Date: 2025-06-20 DOI: 10.1177/08943184251335238

The purpose of this study was to describe the perceptions of mental health applications in smartphones use among Thai older adults within the context of Locsin's theory of technological competency as caring in nursing. Participants were 24 older adults living in the community. Two focus groups and semistructured interviews that were tape-recorded were used. Each focus group took 2 to 3 hours with 20-minute break times. Data were transcribed and analyzed using theory-directed thematic analysis. Five major themes emerged: (1) Knowledge about mental health transforms ways of caring for self; (2) Using smartphone enhances relationships with others; (3) Resistance-acceptance of using technology moment to moment; (4) Using technology presents challenges; and (5) Desire for technology to be user friendly. Each theme was linked and interpreted from the perspective of concepts in Locsin's theory. The findings can help to develop the content and functions of mental health applications in smartphones.

Coaching in Healthcare and Nursing: Does Gender Make a Difference?
IF 1.1 4区 医学 Q3 NURSING Pub Date : 2025-07-01 Epub Date: 2025-06-20 DOI: 10.1177/08943184251335286

Professional nurse coaching engages with the whole person and uses principles and modalities that consider the body, spirit, mind, and environment. In this article, the authors explore coaching from this wholistic perspective and investigate the literature to see if gender makes a difference. Nurse coaching has been used in various countries to engage and motivate people to make changes toward greater wellness, and it has been used by nurse managers to facilitate staff development, as well as improve the organization and quality of healthcare. It is unclear if the gender of the person doing the coaching makes a difference. A review of the literature on coaching strongly supports the use of nurse coaching, but only one study found that gender made a significant difference in the outcomes of nurse coaching interventions. The conclusion was that further studies that follow an integrative nurse coach model for practice are required. Implications for practice are discussed.

Preliminary to investigating the universal humanuniverse living experience of feeling surprised, the scholar engaged with the humanbecoming concept inventing model. This model guided the scholar to creatively conceptualize her meaning of feeling surprised. The now-truth of feeling surprised is stunning astonishment with sureness-unsureness arising with unexpected delight amid potential despair. The ingenuous proclamation is imaging the originating of enabling-limiting elaborated with the artform, Petite Fille à Lunettes by RNST. It is a contribution to the advancement of nursing knowledge on universal humanuniverse living experiences.
