This practice column focuses on the insights and power of storytelling. Storytelling reflects a unique narrative that uncovers meaning in such a manner that new insights arise for the both the storyteller and beholder of a story. The importance of storytelling is illustrated with the light stories shine on meanings, value priorities, and choices. Accordingly, the honoring of storytelling within nursing's theoretical frameworks and practices transforms the individual nurse, informs the discipline, and provides service to persons, families, and communities.

The scholar birthed a unique idea of the universal humanuniverse living experience of having courage using the humanbecoming concept inventing model. Very few studies have explored the phenomenon of courage. This concept inventing emerged with the now-truth, having courage is intentional risking with commitment to the cherished arising with opportunities-restrictions. With the artform, by Andrea Fidler, the scholar articulated an ingenuous proclamation in the language of the humanbecoming paradigm; having courage is powering the valuing of enabling-limiting. This scholarly conceptualization of having courage will advance the unique nursing body of knowledge and is the prelude to the Parsesciencing inquiry on having courage.

In this column, the author explains that there are illusions in teaching-learning in nurse education; sometimes they do not honor the values of teachers or learners. From a humanbecoming perspective, nurse educators cocreate an educational journey with learners, valuing the indivisible, unpredictable, everchanging humanuniverse in coming-to-know the truth for the moment.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of a theory of goal attainment-based care plan on quality of life among patients with myocardial infarction. One hundred two patients were randomly assigned to two groups. The intervention group received a theory of goal attainment-based care plan during their hospital stay and a two-month follow-up assessment after hospital discharge. Quality of life was assessed using the Persian version of the MacNew Heart Disease Health-Related Quality of Life questionnaire. Despite no significant difference between the groups with respect to the pretest mean scores of quality of life and its dimensions (p > .05), the posttest mean scores of quality of life and its dimensions in the intervention group were significantly greater than those of the control group (p < .001). Moreover, while the mean scores of quality of life and its dimensions significantly increased in the intervention group (p < .001), they did not significantly change in the control group (p > .05), except for the mean score of physical functioning (p = .032).

There are many nursing scholars who have contributed to nursing knowledge. Dr. Monika Schuler started her career as a cranberry biologist and is now a nurse scholar and educator. Her contributions to nursing knowledge include two new models that contribute to our understanding of nursing professional growth: (1) the reflection, feedback, and restructuring model for role development in nursing and (2) the substance use disorder nursing attitude model. Dr. Schuler is working with colleagues toward developing an understanding of how nursing experiences inform their role development. In this scholarly dialogue, Dr. Schuler shares her path to nursing scholarship and her recent contributions to nursing knowledge development.

The artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot ChatGPT movement has upset and permeated all aspects of the healthcare arena, including the discipline of nursing. The use of ChatGPT is ethically controversial. This article begins a discussion regarding the impacts of ChatGPT and the possibilities of deception with its usage in scientific and disciplinary publications and academic products.

Narrating or storytelling is a fundamental practice for human survival and a means for finding meaning in experiences and for enhancing self-understanding. The use of story has been present in nursing since its origins. Biographical narrative has rarely been used as a research method in nursing, and there are no examples conceptualizing biographical narrative research methods within a unitary science perspective. The purpose of this paper is to describe one specific narrative methodological approach-the biographical narrative research method-and to link the method to the science of unitary human beings as a means of creating a unitary understanding of the storied nature of human-health experiences.

In this essay, I present my original and most recent versions of nursing's disciplinary metaparadigm, along with others' versions of the metaparadigm. I conclude the essay by joining others in issuing a call for decolonization of nursing knowledge, with an emphasis in this essay on decolonizing nursing's metaparadigm by asking if a metaparadigm is needed and, if so, what its content should be.

The theoretical knowledge base of nurse policy-makers enhances their thoughts with inspiring opportunities with communities and healthcare agencies. Nursing theory and frameworks can serve as a motivating, inspirational force for nurses to be imaginative and view situations in innovative ways. In this paper, the author explores some ways in which health and nursing policy-makers may be inspired by unique nursing knowledge to craft policies that are consistent with nursing's theories and models.
