Genetic algorithm for optimal multivariate mixture 最优多元混合的遗传算法

This paper proposes an algorithm to find an optimal mixture that is as close as possible to an ideal solution, starting from a set of elements (items) described by a set of variables (features). This class of optimization problems can be tackled through traditional approaches belonging to the field of operations research (OR) or even through meta-heuristics techniques belonging to the field of artificial intelligence (AI). In order to present an artificial intelligence perspective, this paper uses a genetic algorithm (GA) model which proves its consistency through the comparison with a linear programming (LP) solver on a set of 8-items 5-features experiments. Results show that the proposed GA converges towards the global optimum and provides competitive results

Distribution free bootstrap prediction intervals after variable selection 变量选择后的无分布自举预测区间

In this paper, we propose two new prediction intervals for linear regression models after variable selection. One of the benefits of the proposed prediction intervals compared to most existing ones is that the distribution of the errors does not need to be known. The asymptotic constancy of the proposed prediction intervals was also examined and showed that the predictions are asymptotically optimal. Simulations were used to illustrate that the new intervals are able to produce better predictions even for sparse models. We compare the new prediction intervals with a few widely used prediction intervals in terms of their achieved coverage and length.

Analysis of the impact of spatial data quality in the decision-making process: choice of wind turbine site in Burundi 空间数据质量在决策过程中的影响分析:布隆迪风力发电机场址选择

Over the past 40 years, the use of wind energy has increased in the world. At the same period, wind turbine installation has become an important research topic. Burundi is one of the east African community countries where installation of wind turbines is not well developed. Recently, a research on planning and installation of wind farms has shown that the locality around the capital of Burundi, Bujumbura is suitable for wind turbines installation because of the high relief of this locality and the presence of the Lake Tanganyika. However, this study did not consider some key characteristics of an appropriate wind power site like geographical accessibility. To overcome this weakness , in this paper, geographic accessibility analysisis of this windy site is done using AccessMod framework in order to compute the spatial distribution of travel time to or from the nearest possible wind turbine. Maximum of travel time of 15, 30, and 45 minutes are used to determine accessibility coverages. Reasons explaining the difficulties of understanding the concepts in the study of general chemistry in Burundi universities 解释布隆迪大学普通化学研究中理解概念困难的原因

This study was conducted to investigate reasons encountered in understanding concept in the study of general chemistry by undergraduate students in Burundi. Burundian University students were compared on (i) Teacher not leaving time for questions, (ii) no opportunity for group studies, (iii) syllabus wideness, and the using of a projector’ as a reason for concept difficulty in the study of general chemistry. A Difficult Concepts in General Chemistry Questionnaire (DCGCQ) was administered to 817 undergraduate students to collect quantitative data for the study while a Difficult Concepts in General Chemistry Interview Guide (DCGCIG) was the qualitative instrument used to elicit responses from the 8 randomly selected participants from 2 public universities and 2 private universities. Among 23 concepts investigated, the results showed that pH and octet rule are perceived as the most difficult concepts in the study of chemistry. On the basis of chi-square test, a significant difference was noticed for concepts such as Octet rule, Electronegativity, Quantum number, Chemical equilibration,

The rent of administrative buildings is one of the funds that can weigh heavily on the economies of developing countries. The available literature on the subject is largely focused on the investment opportunity in the real estate rent sector as well as on the office rent determinants; the dynamism of rents depending on various factors. There is an absence of studies on the predictive functions of increases given the frequent variations of rents to attract the attention of policymakers who may opt for a change or maintain the status quo. This study aims to establish by using the least squares method a linear function that can be used to adjust rents based on the inspiration of lease amendments over time. It highlights the pattern of change in the amounts to be provided for in the budget laws for the years 2016 to 2035. The findings show that lease amendments have a significant influence on the increase in funds to be allocated to the payment of administrative building

The aim of this paper is to develop a quality assurance model to measure academic quality in technology enhanced higher education courses and programmes. It evaluates the academic quality of an artificial intelligence based active learning pedagogy in a course in which students co-create their own understanding of econometrics in a digitalised learning environment using Interactive Learning Documents (ILDs). ILDs are dynamic interactive documents developed in Jupyter notebook using Python programming language designed to facilitate interactive learning of data analysis, modelling and visualisation.
