This article presents Disney’s Pinocchio as a journey into maturity, where development of virtue is put on the agenda. The intention is to show how the film can illustrate ethical and Christian values, and relate these values to children’s self-development. Thus, it may contribute to realizing the idea of self-formation emphasized in documents of reference for schools and kindergartens in Norway. The authors use main features of the film to demonstrate that it dramatizes a development from classic virtue ethics towards a more Christian ethics. The analysis is informed by virtue ethics, both as it was developed in antiquity, and as it was Christianized by philosophers such as Soren Kierkegaard. In the authors’ reading, Disney’s Pinocchio demonstrates that self-development in this respect requires an ability to recognize evil and choose the good. The article also points to how the artistic use of animation techniques contribute to illustrating the thematic structure, connecting to forms of storytelling that children are already familiar with.

This study is a descriptive comparative investigation study to com- pare the level of couple role performance, depression and family strength of multi-cultural couples, and to identify the correlation between these. The re- search subjects were 354 people of multi-cultural couples in Korea. The data was collected from May 13, 2013 to August 30, 2013, and analyzed through SPSS WIN 21.0 program. The result of this study, all multi-cultural couples appeared a positive correlation for couple role performance and family strength (wife r=.54, p<.01, husband r=.71, p<.01), and a negative correlation for de- pression and family strength (wife r= -.27, p<.01, husband r= -.16, p<.05). Therefore, it is necessary to improve the performance of couple roles and family strength for multi-cultural couples, and to provide professional management in order to identify the incidence of depression at an earlier time.

Data fusion is usually performed prior to classification in order to reduce the input space. These dimensionality reduction techniques help to decline the complexity of the classification model and thus improve the classification performance. The traditional supervised methods demand labeled samples, and the current network traffic data mostly is not labeled. Thereby, better learners will be built by using both labeled and unlabeled data, than using each one alone. In this paper, a novel network traffic data fusion approach based on Fisher and deep auto-encoder (DFA-F-DAE) is proposed to reduce the data dimensions and the complexity of computation. The experimental results show that the DFA-F-DAE improves the generalization ability of the three classification algorithms (J48, back propagation neural network (BPNN), and support vector machine (SVM)) by data dimensionality reduction. We found that the DFA-F-DAE remarkably improves the efficiency of big network traffic classification.

We investigated the factors influencing relationship control in the dating relationships of college students. The data were collected from 184 college students at 4 four-year universities and 2 two- to three-year colleges located in D city from July to October 2015. Stepwise multiple regression analysis was performed to determine factors influencing participants' relationship control. We found that gender and attachment anxiety were the strongest influencing factors of relationship control in college students. In other words, male college students were more likely to control their partners than were female college students, and when attachment anxiety was higher, there was a risk of increasing relationship control. These findings should be considered in developing interventions for college students focusing on management of relationship control.

This article is based on the results of the research project "The Music of Possibilities", developed by music educators at the SKUG Centre, a resource centre for Adapted Music Education in Tromso. We first show how Assistive Music Technology can create new opportunities for aesthetic expression for students with disabilities, with the aim that they will be able to actively participate in their own musical education. We then present relevant research on Assistive Music Technology, and aim to show how opportunities for participation in music education can be created, when teachers use these technological innovations as a musical instrument in an art didactics context. Finally, we present the results of qualitative research interviews and participant observation with disabled children and young adult learners. We also collate the experiences of teachers, programmers, technologists, musicians and scientists who have long experience of conducting music lessons using Assistive Music Technology, with the aim of presenting some of the knowledge they have gained from working within the field.

The framework is proposed where matter can be seen as related to energy in a way structure relates to process and information relates to computation. In this scheme matter corresponds to a structure, which corresponds to information. Energy corresponds to the ability to carry out a process, which corresponds to computation. The relationship between each two complementary parts of each dichotomous pair (matter/energy, structure/process, information/computation) are analogous to the relationship between being and becoming, where being is the persistence of an existing structure while becoming is the emergence of a new structure through the process of interactions. This approach presents a unified view built on two fundamental ontological categories: Information and computation. Conceptualizing the physical world as an intricate tapestry of protoinformation networks evolving through processes of natural computation helps to make more coherent models of nature, connecting non-living and living worlds. It presents a suitable basis for incorporating current developments in understanding of biological/cognitive/social systems as generated by complexification of physicochemical processes through self-organization of molecules into dynamic adaptive complex systems by morphogenesis, adaptation and learning— all of which are understood as information processing.
