Aim: This study focuses on the nonlinear characteristics of two linearly stable equilibrium states within a theoretical hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) dynamics model. Methods: The conditional nonlinear optimal perturbation method, the Lyapunov method and the linear singular vector method are employed. Results: By utilizing the conditional nonlinear optimal perturbation method, it is determined that the two linearly stable equilibrium states (namely the free disease and disease HFMD states) also exhibit nonlinear stability. It is found that the stabilities of the free disease and disease HFMD equilibrium states differ in terms of returning to their original states. Conclusion: It is discovered that nonlinearity plays a crucial role in reinstating the original equilibrium states.

Aim: At present, COBAS human papillomavirus (HPV) and Aptima HPV screening are widely used to detect HPV infection. In this study, we compared and analyzed the positive rates of DNA and mRNA (n = 10,128 women). Methods: After HPV screening, colposcopy was performed. Subsequently, pathological analysis was conducted on the screening results. Results: In Aptima HPV 16 group, the proportion of pathological lesions ≥CIN2 was 32.69%, while in COBAS HPV group, it was 24.18% (p < 0.05). Aptima HPV other risk types and COBAS HPV other risk types, the proportion of cases ≥CIN2 was 12.42 and 5.79%, respectively (p < 0.001). Conclusion: The results illustrated that the Aptima HPV test detects more accurately clinically relevant lesions than the COBAS test.

Aim: Our study aimed to assess the response to direct-acting antiviral drugs (DAAs) among hepatitis C virus (HCV)-infected patients who also had other comorbid conditions. Materials & methods: The data was examined based on a variety of categories, encompassing age, gender, liver function enzymes, tumor markers and comorbid conditions. Results: In conclusion, DAAs demonstrated relatively effective results in HCV/hepatitis B virus coinfected patients, with a 78.2% sustained virological response rate, and 55.5% among HCV monoinfected patients in our study sample. However, some challenges remain, as we observed certain adverse effects associated with DAAs. Conclusion: In the past, interferon-based treatment regimens were the primary options against HCV; however, their limited success led to the development of DAAs drugs that reportedly cause adverse outcomes occasionally.

The global pandemic due to severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), has led to ∼6.9 million deaths and affected ∼767 million people globally. The approved vaccines have contributed significantly in reducing disease severity and mortality. However, new infections post vaccination and the lack of specific antivirals have encouraged the research using multiple approaches to design novel therapeutics against COVID-19. Recent studies on the applications of RNAi against coronavirus provide substantial evidence on the prospects of this technique against SARS-CoV-2. Progress in the field of computational analysis and applications of multiple delivery methods also promises safe and effective implementation of RNAi against COVID-19. This review deals with the possible applications and challenges of RNAi against SARS-CoV-2.

Aim: Describe the utility of an inverse reinforcement learning pathway to develop a novel model to predict and manage the spread of COVID-19. Materials & methods: Convolutional neural network (CNN) with multilayer perceptron (MLP) modeling functions utilized inverse reinforcement learning to predict COVID-19 outcomes based on a comprehensive array of factors. Results: Our model demonstrates a sensitivity of 0.67 in the receiver operating characteristic curve and can correctly identify approximately 67% of the positive cases. Conclusion: We demonstrate the ability to augment clinical decision-making with a novel artificial intelligence (AI) solution that accurately predicted the susceptibility of transplant patients to COVID-19. This enables physicians to administer treatment and take appropriate preventative measures based on patients' risk factors.
