Physiological and growth responses of grapevine rootstocks (Vitis spp.) to organic and synthetic mulch application in arid ecology under the effect of climate change 气候变化影响下干旱区葡萄砧木对有机和合成地膜的生理和生长响应

Agricultural applications in food production have great significance in alleviating the adverse influences of environmental stressors on grapevines. In this context, mulch applications are known as environment-friendly sustainable implementations for efficiently benefiting from limited water sources. Moreover, mulches have many other beneficial effects such as quality assurance, yield improvement, ripening modulation, soil amelioration, erosion prevention and weed control. Therefore the present investigations were performed in an arid ecological condition to reveal the effects of easily available organic mulch (straw) and synthetic mulch (plastic ground covering) on physiology and growth features of worldwide popular grapevine rootstocks (41 B, 99 R 44-53 M and Rupestris du Lot). Saplings of each rootstock variety were transplanted to experimental vineyard at the end of the winter season with the spacing of 1.5 x 3.0 m within and between the rows. Mulch applications were carried out at the transplanting date. Mulch applications provided significant water retention with the higher effect of organic mulch in the soil. Stomatal conductance, leaf temperature and chlorophyll content were generally increased due to mulching. They also significantly improved the leaf and shoot growth of the rootstocks in many cases. Finally, both two mulch applications could be recommended as modern techniques in viticulture to prevent the agricultural water loss and support the plant growth. However, the organic mulch could be employed for organic and/or sustainable grape production or areas where the straw is easily available as residues of animal production.

Evaluation of technical efficiency of Hungarian and Croatian livestock sectors using DEA on FADN data 利用DEA对FADN数据评价匈牙利和克罗地亚畜牧部门的技术效率

The different sectors of the livestock industry play an important role in meeting the increasing demand for animal products in both Hungary and Croatia. The general objective of this study was to investigate and compare the efficiency of the livestock sectors in Croatia and Hungary using the Data Envelopment Analysis method. In this paper, the technical efficiency of the dairy, beef, broiler, sheep and goat, and pig sectors from 2014 to 2017 is investigated based on the Farm Accountancy Data Network database. This paper compared farms of different size classes based on the Standard Production Value for more detailed insights. Among the five main livestock sectors, Hungary performs better in terms of farm technical efficiency in the dairy and beef sectors, while Croatia has higher efficiency scores in the sheep sector. The performances in the pig and broiler sectors are almost the same in both countries. Moreover, in the Hungarian poultry, pig, sheep and goat sectors and the Croatian dairy, beef and pig sectors, the technical efficiency of small-sized farms is better than that of medium-sized farms.

Probiotics and prebiotics in arterial hypertension 动脉高血压的益生菌和益生元

There is growing evidence that a disturbed microbiota, a complex ecosystem, is associated with the development of numerous diseases, including arterial hypertension. This complex cardiovascular disease is the result of not sufficiently clear role that genetic and environmental factors play in it. Not only does the treatment of hypertension include a drug therapy, but also it includes a variety of non-pharmacological measures based on dietary intervention. Probiotics and prebiotics are besides the nutrition the most commonly used substances that are aimed at maintaining a healthy microbiome or restoring the balance in case of disturbed bacterial homeostasis in disease. Although many studies have confirmed the effects of an imbalance in the gut microbiota (dysbiosis) in the last decade, the benefits of dietary intervention with probiotics in people with hypertension need to be supported by stronger evidence and further clinical trials in order to be ultimately confirmed.

Seasonal changes in diet affect fatty acid composition of Jersey milk in organic production system 在有机生产体系中,日粮的季节变化对泽西奶脂肪酸组成有影响

The aim of this study was to determine effect of diet-based seasonal changes on fatty acid composition of Jersey milk in mountain region of Croatia. Bulk milk samples (200 mL) were collected during total-mixed ratio (TMR)-based, intermediate and pasture-based diet. Fatty acid composition of milk was determined by gas-chromatography. We found that pasture-based diet has positive effect on fatty acid composition of Jersey milk considering human nutrition. During pasture-based diet, Jersey cows produced milk with lower ( P <0.05) saturated fatty acid and higher ( P <0.05) polyunsaturated fatty acid content. Namely, regarding individual fatty acids, milk produced during pasture-based diet had lower ( P <0.05) C16:0 and higher ( P <0.05) C18:2n-6, C18:3n-6 and conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) content than milk produced during TMR and intermediate diet. Milk produced during pasture-based diet can be valuable source of health-beneficial PUFA in diet.

Parasitoids of the invasive Nezara viridula (Linnaeus) in Bulgaria 保加利亚侵入性病毒线虫的拟寄生物

The southern green stink bug Nezara viridula (Linnaeus) is a polyphagous species that causes economic damages to many crops in Bulgaria. The aim of this study was to identify the parasitoid species that could suppress the populations of Nezara viridula . A lot of agricultural crops were inspected in the region of Plovdiv, Bulgaria, for the presence of egg parasitoids and imaginal parasitoids of the pest. Egg masses and adults of Nezara viridula were collected during the field surveys in 2019-2021 in Southern Bulgaria. The only parasitoid species emerging from adults of the green stink bug was Trichopoda pennipes (Tachinidae), which is reported for the first time in Bulgaria. The rate of parasitism at field conditions ranged from 2.83% to 35% in the different generations of the host. The egg parasitoids were from family Scelionidae – Trissolcus basalis (Wollaston), Eupelmidae – Anastatus bifasciatus (Geoffroy), and Encyrtidae - Ooencyrtus telenomicida (Vassiliev). It was found that at field conditions the rate of parasitism of the eggs in 2020 and 2021 was respectively 7.77% and 0.25% in May, 34.32% and 17.23% in June, 72.3% and 80.51% in July, and in August – reaching 100% and 89.79%.

Dairy processing industry in the European Union: Country-group clustering in pre and post-milk quota abolishment periods 欧盟的乳制品加工业:在取消牛奶配额之前和之后的国家集团集群

The European Union dairy processing sector has an important position and role in processing food and drinks in EU28 concerning the share of turnover, value-added, and employment. Its products belong to the most imported and exported items, mainly in EU countries. The article aims to evaluate the competitiveness of the EU milk market with respect to pre-and post-milk quota elimination periods. In addition, the paper identifies similar characteristics of the EU dairy sector, including milk production and processing. Eurostat and FAOstat data from 2008-2018 were used. Based on the clustering of k-means, five groups of EU countries were distinguished. The clustering analysis reveals that the post-communist EU member states are characterised by similar levels of dairy processing industry characteristics. In addition, the article shows that the competitiveness of the dairy processing industry is higher in the old EU member states (Belgium, Germany, Ireland, Greece, Spain, France, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Austria, Portugal, Finland, Sweden and the United Kingdom). The results indicate that the abolishment of the milk quota has not induced visible changes in the clustering of characteristics of the dairy processing industry in EU countries.

In addition, the paper identifies similar characteristics of the EU dairy sector, including milk production and processing. Eurostat and FAOstat data from 2008-2018 were used. Based on the clustering of k-means, five groups of EU countries were distinguished. The clustering analysis reveals that the post-communist EU member states are characterised by similar levels of dairy processing industry characteristics. In addition, the article shows that the competitiveness of the dairy processing industry is higher in the old EU member states (Belgium, Germany, Ireland, Greece, Spain, France, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Austria, Portugal, Finland, Sweden and the United Kingdom). Export of Indonesian cinnamon in international market: competitiveness and performance 印尼肉桂出口在国际市场上的竞争力与表现

The high level of competition in the world cinnamon market causes a downturn in Indonesian cinnamon exports in international market. In 2019-2020, sales of Indonesian cinnamon in international market have experienced a downward trend. This study aimed to analyse the trend of Indonesian cinnamon’s export value in international market in 2001-2020 compared to Sri Lanka, Vietnam, and China, as the main exporting countries, then analyse the factors influencing the export value of Indonesian cinnamon in the United States, the Netherlands, Brazil, Germany, and Thailand, as main destination countries in international market by adding spatial and competitiveness variables. This study utilized secondary data and time-series data. The data obtained in this study were collected from various data sources such as International Trade Centre, World Bank, WTO, UN Comtrade, Artnet, UNESCAP, Pacific Exchange Rate Service, and other publications related to this research. Data on the performance of Indonesian cinnamon in international market utilized HS 1996 with HS code 0906 (Cinnamon and cinnamon-tree flower) in the 2001-2020 range. The results showed that the exports of Indonesia's cinnamon in international market had a positive trend. Indonesia had a very strong comparative advantage, so the potential to increase Indonesia's market share was very open in international market. The model estimation results showed that trade costs had an insignificant effect on Indonesian cinnamon exports in international market, while other variables, namely the GDP of the importing countries, the GDP of the exporting countries, the exchange rate, population, and competitiveness had a significant influence.

The research of sanitary status and virus presence was conducted on three native Croatian grapevine varieties (Kujudžuša bijela, Zlatarica vrgorska and Trnjak crni) that are grown in Dalmatia region. The investigation was done on 492 vines from 31 vineyards. Vines were tested by ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) on four main economic viruses: arabis mosaic virus (ArMV), grapevine fanleaf virus (GFLV), grapevine leafroll-associated virus 1 and 3 (GLRaV–1, GLRaV-3) as a first step in clonal selection of these rare native grapevine varieties. Altogether, 40 vines were free of all tested viruses. The research confirms high rate of virus infection and eroded sanitary status of all investigated varieties. The above indicates necessity of implementation clonal and sanitary selection programme.

Evaluation of some bread wheat genotypes for heat tolerance under terminal heat stress conditions 几种面包小麦基因型在终热胁迫条件下的耐热性评价

Terminal heat stress leads to significant yield reduction in wheat. Thus, the determination of heat tolerant genotypes is of major importance in wheat breeding program. The present study was conducted at Shandaweel agricultural research station, Sohag, Egypt during 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 growing seasons, to evaluate twelve bread wheat genotypes under normal sowing (20 November) and late sowing (30 December) dates, the experiment set up as a randomized complete block design with three replications. Results revealed that late sowing (terminal heat stress) had a significant adverse impact on agronomic, physiological traits and grain carbohydrate content. The genotype Shandaweel 2, followed by Giza 171 and Sids 14 performed better than other genotypes for grain yield under the normal sowing. On the other side, Shandaweel 2 outperformed the tested genotypes under the late sowing. Based on heat susceptibility index (HSI), the cultivars Sids 12, Misr 2, Sakha 95 and genotype Shandaweel 2 showed HSI<1 and they can be labeled as heat tolerant genotypes, while Sids 14, Misr 1, Giza 171 and Misr 3 showed HSI>1 and they can be considered as heat sensitive cultivars. GGE biplot analysis and ranking of genotypes revealed that the new line Shandaweel 2 was the an ideal genotype in terms of yielding ability and stability and it was suitable for planting under normal and late sowing conditions, while Giza 171 was suitable for planting under the normal sowing. The GYT biplot and superiority index showed that Shandaweel 2 and Giza 171 had the best traits profile.
