/The aim of this paper was to present a case of a ten-year-old boy suffering from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, to describe the symptoms of the disorder and to present cognitive-behavioral treatment with psychopharmaceutical therapy. A boy aged 10 years and 4 months came in for an urgent examination to a child and adolescent psychiatrist due to worsening anxiety difficulties, and a psychiatric examination established a diagnosis of obsessive-compulsive disorder. An obsessive thought of threatening content came to mind in the daily functioning of the boy, and the goal of his compulsions was to reduce the elevated level of anxiety and prevent some frightening event, which was not specified. The boy was then included in cognitive-behavioural treatment with psychopharmacological therapy prescribed by the child and adolescent psychiatrist. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the treatment was adapted to the new circumstances and during the pandemic the treatment was maintained via video call. In the treatment of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder in children and adolescents, timely diagnosis and involvement in treatment, as well as the involvement of parents in the therapeutic process are of utmost importance. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy has shown success in reducing the boy's anxiety difficulties, which is in line with numerous scientific studies, so cognitive-behavioural therapy is considered the therapy of choice in the treatment of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder in children and adolescents. The current health crisis has changed the way psychotherapy is provided in the world, which requires further adaptation to the new conditions, both for therapists and recipients of psychotherapeutic services.

Social networks are virtual spaces currently connecting over 3 8 billion users worldwide The number of users and the number of different social networks is constantly growing, which indicates that technology-mediated daily life has become an integral part of life in the 21st century It is indubitable that there are many advantages to technological progress, but the question remains whether the use of social networks necessarily contributes to the wellbeing and quality of life of every individual Over the last decade, a growing number of studies have attempted to clarify the connection between the use of social networks and mental health In the context of social networks, the most-studied factor is the subjective assessment of time spent on social networks and the type of social network use in those periods (active/passive use) In the context of mental health, the anxiety and depression have been most extensively studied, while self-esteem, fear of missing out, social comparison, and loneliness have shown themselves to be mediators/moderators in the association between social networks and mental health However, it is extremely important to place existing research in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic This review article presents the main findings in this field with the clear conclusion that further longitudinal and experimental studies are required to clarify the causal direction of this relationship and the potential protective and risk factors, especially in the context of the alterations in the importance of social networks in maintaining social contacts during the pandemic © 2020 Medicinska Naklada Zagreb All rights reserved

According to studies conducted so far both in Europe and globally, the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) produced a significant negative impact on population mental health in the affected countries within just a few weeks This paper is part of a larger research project conducted in Croatia titled Some aspects of mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic The study was conducted on a sample of 1482 respondents with an average age of 33 3 years (SD = 12 2) The focus of this paper was the correlation between various aspects of the pandemic and risk vs protective factors for population mental health The Pandemic Aspects Questionnaire and Questionnaire of Sociodemographic Data were used as research instruments The results showed that respondents significantly differed in their assessments of risk and severity and in how closely they followed the updates in the media, in their perceived fear of infection, and in health literacy levels with regard to general demographic variables (sex, marital status, number of children, number of household members), but also in their risk characteristics such as age, self-isolation measures, and chronic disease The results and practical implications are discussed in detail © 2021 Medicinska Naklada Zagreb All rights reserved
