A priori and a posteriori error estimates of H1‐Galerkin mixed finite element method for parabolic optimal control problems 抛物型最优控制问题的H1 - Galerkin混合有限元法的先验和后验误差估计

In this exposition, we study both a priori and a posteriori error analysis for the H1‐Galerkin mixed finite element method for optimal control problems governed by linear parabolic equations. The state and costate variables are approximated by the lowest order Raviart‐Thomas finite element spaces, whereas the control variable is approximated by piecewise constant functions. Compared to the standard mixed finite element procedure, the present method is not subject to the Ladyzhenskaya‐Babuska‐Brezzi condition and the approximating finite element spaces are allowed to be of different degree polynomials. A priori error analysis for both the semidiscrete and the backward Euler fully discrete schemes are analyzed, and L∞(L2) convergence properties for the state variables and the control variable are obtained. In addition, L2(L2)‐norm a posteriori error estimates for the state and control variables and L∞(L2) ‐norm for the flux variable are also derived.

Optimal Control of One-dimensional Cellular Uptake in Tissue Engineering. 组织工程中一维细胞摄取的最优控制。

A control problem motivated by tissue engineering is formulated and solved in which control of the uptake of growth factors (signaling molecules) is necessary to spatially and temporally regulate cellular processes for the desired growth or regeneration of a tissue. Four approaches are compared for determining 1D optimal boundary control trajectories for a distributed parameter model with reaction, diffusion, and convection: (i) basis function expansion, (ii) method of moments, (iii) internal model control (IMC), and (iv) model predictive control (MPC). The proposed method-of-moments approach is computationally efficient while enforcing a non-negativity constraint on the control input. While more computationally expensive than methods (i)-(iii), the MPC formulation significantly reduced the computational cost compared to simultaneous optimization of the entire control trajectory. A comparison of the pros and cons of each of the four approaches suggests that an algorithm that combines multiple approaches is most promising for solving the optimal control problem for multiple spatial dimensions.

This paper presents a theorem on necessary conditions for optimal control problems containing monotonicity constraints that bear on a joint function of the control variable, the state variable, and the time. These constraints are often found, under continuity and piecewise smoothness assumptions for the endogenous variables of the problem, in various economic fields that include monopoly regulation, non‐uniform pricing, implicit contracts, and optimal taxation. After applying our theorem to a general incentive provision model, we show its usefulness in relaxing the standard continuity and smoothness assumptions, for the case of two screening problems among those that have received more attention in the literature. A switching control strategy for the attenuation of blood glucose disturbances. 一种用于血糖干扰衰减的开关控制策略。

In this computational study we consider a generalized minimal model structure for the intravenously infused insulin-blood glucose dynamics, which can represent a wide variety of diabetic patients, and augment this model structure with a glucose rate disturbance signal that captures the aggregate effects of various internal and external factors on blood glucose. Then we develop a model-based, switching controller, which attempts to balance between optimal performance, reduced computational complexity and avoidance of dangerous hypoglycaemic events. We evaluate the proposed algorithm relative to the widely studied proportional-derivative controller for the regulation of blood glucose with continuous insulin infusions. The results show that the proposed switching control strategy can regulate blood glucose much better than the proportional-derivative controller for all the different types of diabetic patients examined. This new algorithm is also shown to be remarkably robust in the event of concurrent, unknown variations in critical parameters of the adopted model.

This paper investigates the relaxed non-quadratic stability conditions, fuzzy observer designs and ∞ controller designs for discrete-time Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy systems based on a relaxed approach in which fuzzy Lyapunov functions are used. First, a new relaxed condition of non-quadratic stability is presented, which is shown to be useful in designing fuzzy controller and observer. Second, new fuzzy observers based on the relaxed non-quadratic stability conditions have been proposed. Then, a sufficient linear matrix inequality (LMI)-type condition is proposed to guarantee the existence of the ∞ controllers based on the fuzzy observers designed. It is shown that the controller and observer parameters can be obtained by solving a set of LMIs that are numerically feasible with commercially available software. Finally, the effectiveness and less conservativeness of the proposed approach are demonstrated by two examples

An order reduction problem for the state estimation of singularly perturbed linear systems is shown to be a well-posed problem, whereas the corresponding order reduction control problem is ill-posed. This observation plays an important role in the concept of multimodeling and in the slow—fast decomposition control problem for singularly perturbed linear stochastic systems.

The linear quadratic Gaussian (LQG) optimal control problem of single-input-single-output (SISO) analogue and digital systems can be solved using Wiener-Hopf techniques of spectral and partial factorization. A new form of the Wiener-Hopf result is derived, followed by a description of how the solution is implemented in Program CC, a user-friendly, command driven, computer-aided-control-system-design (CACSD) package.

A model is formulated and solved to investigate the optimal introduction of a new production process when the unit cost of the old process increases with cumulative output and the new process is subject to two learning curves. Capital costs of the new process come down with cumulative experience of installation of new capacity, and operating costs are reduced as operating experience accumulates. Demand is assumed to be constant. Because of an upper limit on the rate of expansion of capacity, conversion to the new process takes place gradually over an interval. It is shown that an equivalent, constant capital cost of the new process may be calculated before solving the model; the same may be done for the operating cost in some cases. An example with oil from the Canadian tar sands as the new process is solved, and extensions to the model are discussed.

Boost–glide range-optimal guidance† 助推-滑翔段最佳制导†

A simple guidance scheme is proposed which approximately optimizes the range of the glide phase of a boost-glide vehicle's trajectory. The scheme requires only altitude, flight-path angle, and attitude measurements for implementation. The guidance law provides an attitude command based on the actual flight-path angle and on a calculated flight-path angle associated with that of an equilibrium, constant-dynamic-pressure, glide of maximum lift-to-drag ratio. By proper weighting of these two inputs, an approximately optimal guidance control is realized. Two examples are given which demonstrate the trajectory characteristics for a high-performance aircraft and for a missile-type vehicle.

This paper considers the relation between controller designs for the same linear system achieved with two different quadratic performance indices. These indices differ only to the extent that one has frequency weighting on the control whereas the other has the inverse frequency weighting on the state. The feedback controllers are constructed by augmenting the given plant and by solving a modified LQG problem for the augmented system. The main result is that whereas the optimal controls as time functions can be the same, the optimal controllers are different. Filtering results are also obtained.
