Laboratory study about the influences of sediment concentrations on water quality monitoring of Yellow River in Lanzhou 泥沙浓度对黄河兰州市水质监测影响的室内研究

The relationships between sediment concentration and the conventional pollutants in Lanzhou section of the Yellow River, and the influences of sediment on water quality parameters were investigated in this paper. The results indicated that: (1) the total CODMn of water sample, both in the muddy water samples and water samples under pretreatment with acid, increased significantly with increasing sediment concentration while the ones without pre-treatment did not increased significantly; (2) with the increase of sediment concentration, the NH3-N of the water sample increased significantly, and the changes under pre-treatment with acid were more significantly than the ones with no pre-treatment; (3) with the increase of sediment content, the BOD5 of water sample increased significantly, the changes under agitate conditions were more remarkable than static conditions. The BOD5 of water sample increased significantly with increasing solid concentration, and the changes under agitate conditions were more significantly than the ones under static conditions.

Effect of land use and land cover change on ecosystem services in Naidong County on the Tibetan Plateau, China 青藏高原乃东县土地利用/覆被变化对生态系统服务的影响

Land use and land cover change (LUCC) on a regional scale is one of the major research topics in global climate change studies. In recent years, an increasing number of researchers have highlighted the significance of case studies in understanding LUCC patterns and processes. The Tibetan Plateau ecosystem is a typical fragile ecosystem that is extremely difficult to restore once it is damaged. Thus, studies on LUCC and its effects on the environment have great theoretical and practical significance. In this study, LUCC and changes in ecosystem services in Naidong County on the Tibetan Plateau, China between 1988 and 2000 are investigated. LANDSAT Thematic Mapper (TM) of 1998 and Enhanced Thematic Mapper Plus (ETM+) images of 2000 are used to detect LUCC, and then changes in the values of ecosystem services delivered by each land category are investigated. Finally, the contribution of various ecosystem functions to the overall value of ecosystem services is discussed. The results show that the enhancement of forest areas is the most prominent characteristic of change in land use, specifically the conversion from 659.23 ha of wetlands, 501.51 ha of grasslands, and 163.07 ha of desert to forests from 1988 to 2000 in study area. The total value of ecosystem services in Naidong County declined from yuan 1655.16 million to yuan 1640.21 million between 1988 and 2000. This decrease can be largely attributed to the loss of wetlands (valued at yuan 36.58 million), whereas the ecosystem services value of forests increased by yuan 25.60 million during that period. The sensitivity analysis revealed that the contributions of gas regulation, soil formation and erosion control, biological diversity, and raw materials to the total value of ecosystem services increased over the 12-year period. Moreover, the contributions of waste treatment, water conservation, climate regulation, recreation and culture, and food production significantly decreased during the same period.

Surface water quantity and quality assessment in Xi'an moat river, China 西安护城河地表水数量与质量评价

Urban river, as an important component of urban ecological system, has many roles in urban ecological construction. Statistical and trend analysis of surface water quality from Xi'an moat river have been performed to provide a framework for sustainable water resources management. The trend analysis was performed using the non-parametric Spearman correlation and tested for statistical significance using the Student's t-test. Weekly surface water quality data from 28 stations on Xi'an Moat River have been analyzed. Apart from the statistical and trend analyses, the quality of the Xi'an moat river was assessed for other urban uses, according to the national, Environmental quality standards for surface water (GB 3838-2002). The important information has been gained from this analysis, especially on the identification of significant temporal and spatial trends of water quality parameters and the status of river water quality according to the water quality standards. The analysis indicated that the quality of the river water is, on average fair, and the river water could be used with caution for water quality standard for landscape and recreation area purposes.

Study on soil stable infiltration characteristics at different depths in Dongliao River Basin, Northeast China 东辽河流域不同深度土壤稳定入渗特征研究

Based on infiltration experiments in the central Dongliao River Basin, the multifractal analysis method was used to investigate the spatial variability of soil stable infiltration characteristics (SSIC) at different depths and the correlation to soil physical properties. Then the conversion models of soil stable infiltration characteristics at different depths were established. The results showed that soil stable infiltration characteristics at different depths were multifractal. The spatial variabilities of soil stable infiltration rates at the depths of 30cm and 50cm were mainly caused by those of clay content, organic matter content and soil moisture content at the depth of 10cm at point scale. The multi-scale analysis results showed that the soil stable infiltration rates at the depths of 30cm and 50cm had the most significant correlation to soil moisture content at the depth of 10cm, soil bulk density, organic matter content and total N content. Two conversion models of soil stable infiltration characteristics at the depths of 30cm and 50cm were established with smaller computational errors, based on multifractal theory. The correlation coefficients of two models were 0.996 and 0.958 respectively, corresponding to RMSE of 0.048 and 0.050.

Introduction of rain harvesting treatment in northwest villages of China 中国西北农村雨水收集处理的介绍

Surface water and ground water is extremely needed in arid and semi-arid northwest area of China, and rainwater is the only potential recourse. Nevertheless, conventional water treatment processes and methods have high technique requirement. What's more, the operation, maintenance and management of the processes are often complicated, it is only suitable for large-scale and centralized water treatment mode, thus finding the appropriate rainwater treatment process is what we need to solve immediately. Considering that the quality, seasonality, spatial and temporal heterogeneity of the rainwater is unstable, we remove the pollutants by using hydrocyclone desander-artificial ecological sewage interception system-rough filtration-slow filtration process. Practical application shows that this process has a good removal effect of turbidity, chroma, organic compounds, N-NH4, bacteria and other microbiology indexes. Also, this process has the characters of low investment cost, low maintenance cost which eases the operation. All indexes of effluent can meet the Grade Standard of Drinking Water Quality in China. Thus, there is a good prospect for the process in northwest villages of China.

Study on allocation analysis of water resources in Qaidam Basin 柴达木盆地水资源配置分析研究

In order to meet the demands of water resources in the water shortage areas in Qaidam basin and accelerate the development of economy in this region, it is necessary to allocate analysis water resources in the water shortage areas reasonably and receive the largest social benefits with limited economic investment. In this paper, through studying the principles, models and methods of water resources allocation analysis, based on the water sustainable development ideas and analysis the behaviors of water resources utilization and development in the Qaidam basin, simulate the water resources allocation analysis in level years and provide a basis for allocation decision making of water resources.

Use combination aeration membrane bioreactor for urban sewage processing, when influent CODCr, BOD5, NH3-N concentration ranged:53.15~978.50 mg/L, 28.23~431.55 mg/L, 4.14~37.78 mg/L, when the hydraulic retention time (HRT) for 4 h, 6 h, 8 h, CODCr, BOD5 and NH3-N the average removal efficiencies were: above 90%, above 95%, above 90%, the best HRT for 6 h. Changes of chemical fractions of Cd in the mixed substrates of constructed wetland 人工湿地混合基质中镉化学组分的变化

Five mixed substrates for constructed wetland were constructed to absorb Cd in water, and different Cd fractions were monitored during the operation period. The results indicated that there were significant differences in the Cd concentration of each fraction among the mixed substrates at the end of the operation. The Cd in exchangeable fraction among different substrates had significant variation. Compared to the other three fractions, the Cd concentration in organic matter and residual fractions was relatively steady and low. The Cd in exchangeable, carbonate and Fe-Mn oxide fractions was dominant in the total Cd, while the organic matter and residual fractions were only small part of it. The Cd concentration in all fractions increased with increasing operation time, and the changes of organic matter and residual Cd were relatively not obvious.

By appropriate assumption and simplification, the law of the movement and dispersion with water and the attenuation and transformation of pollutants in rivers is described, with mathematical models given respectively, based on which, the one-dimensional mathematical equation of pollutants in rivers is obtained, the turbulence self-purification model of pollutants in rivers is discussed, and finally the example is given.
