Aim: Although many tests evaluating visual perceptual impairment have been developed in the clinic, it is seen that the tests within Turkish validity and reliability are insufficient. Visual Object and Space Perception (VOSP) Test, which evaluates visual and spatial perception separately, is distinguished from other visual perceptual tests as a sensitive battery. In our study, it is aimed to analyze Turkish cultural adaptation, validity, and reliability of VOSP Test, which evaluates visual-spatial functions in stroke survivors and healthy individuals. Methods: Twenty-seven stroke patients with right hemisphere lesions and 54 healthy individuals were included in our study. Criterion validity method has been used to examine the validity. Internal consistency, Cronbach alpha and test-retest methods have been used for the reliability of the test. Results: Eighty-one participants [45 (55.6%) female] have been included in our study. The mean age was 46.04±14.74 years. Turkish version of the VOSP test has been found to be sufficient and reliable according to the Cronbach Alpha Coefficient (0.923). Conclusion: In the light of the findings of our study, it has been concluded that the Turkish version of the VOSP Test is a valid and reliable measurement tool and that this test can be benefited by scientific and clinical studies.

Because Rubeola (measles) infection is not observed in our country after eradication and is especially on the agenda again after migrations, pathologists may find it challenging to histopathologically recognize cases of Rubeola lymphadenitis and establish an accurate diagnosis. Here we describe the histopathological features of a rare Rubeola case. A 15-year-old Syrian migrant male patient was admitted with a complaint of lymph node swelling in the postauricular region for 2 months. Lymph node excision was performed with a preliminary diagnosis of lymphoma. The excised lymph node was subjected to a routine pathological examination in our clinic. Histopathological examination revealed that the basic structure was preserved under the thick fibrous capsule in the lymph node. Warthin-Finkeldey-type giant cells attracted attention in the interfollicular areas. The appearance compatible with lymphoproliferative neoplasia was not detected. The relevant clinic was informed that there were histological signs of Rubeola lymphadenitis upon detection of Rubeola IgM positivity in the examination, the case was evaluated as Rubeola infection. Rubeola was a common deadly infectious disease in the past century before the vaccine was developed. Today, there has been an epidemic again due to vaccine hesitancy, migration, and sociocultural conditions. Because it is exceptionally rare, we hope that the case we present will provide insights to pathologists for recognizing cases of Rubeola lymphadenitis and making precise diagnoses.

Background and Objective In critical cases, electrolyte disturbances such as hypophosphatemia have been shown to be associated with mortality and in our study, we aimed to examine the relationship between hypophosphatemia, a symptom disorder with COVID-19, and death. Material and Methodology This study is a retrospective, cross-sectional investigation that encompasses patients diagnosed with COVID-19 and subsequently admitted for treatment at our hospital. Based on their serum phosphate levels, the patients were bifurcated into two distinct categories: those with serum phosphate levels below 2.5 mg/dl, classified as hypophosphatemic, and those with levels above this benchmark, categorized as non-hypophosphatemic. The comparisons drawn between these two cohorts were facilitated using a range of statistical methodologies, and the resulting findings were subsequently analyzed and interpreted within this framework. ackground Regional anesthesia applications have become popular in lower extremity surgeries. Ankle peripheral nerve block is applied by two methods. These; It is a peripheral block that is performed using USG-assisted and anatomical landmarks that do not require the use of USG. In our study, we aimed to compare these two methods applied in foot surgeries retrospectively Methods Peripheral block patients performed with the USG-guided (group 1) were 20, anatomical landmarks- guided (group 2) were 20. In both groups, 40 cc of anesthetic mixture was used (bupivacaine + lidocaine). The recorded information of the patients were as follows: Block application time (BAT), surgery readiness time (SRT), duration of surgery (DoS), duration of block anesthesia (DBA) and intraoperative-postoperative VAS score. The results of the VAS applied to the patients postoperatively were obtained. Patients were contacted by phone and asked if they were satisfied with the anesthesia. Results The BAT and DBA values of the patients in Group 1 were high. SRT and VAS 6 values of the patients in group 2 were high. No significant difference was found between the groups in other parameters. No additional dose of anesthetic was needed in group 1 during the intraoperative period. In group 2, local additional dose was administered to 3 patients. Conclusions Peripheral block preparation USG-guided takes a long time. However, it is more comfortable during surgery. USG-guided peripheral nerve block is more advantageous when the possibility of prolonging the duration of surgery for any reason and early postoperative pain control are considered.

ABSTRACT Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the Turkish validation and verification of the Nottingham Clavicle Score (NCS). Study Design: A validation study. Place and Duration of the Study: Alanya Training and Research Hospital, from April 2017 to December 2021. Methods: Sixty-eight patients who underwent surgery due to clavicle fracture or acromioclavicular separation were included in the study (12 females, 56 males; average age: 37.1±13.3 years). The Turkish version of the NCS (NCS-Tr) was designed, which described the stages recommended by Beaton. Each patient completed the NCS-Tr twice at 7-10 day intervals to evaluate the test-retest reliability based on the interrater correlation coefficient, and Cronbach’s alpha was evaluated for internal consistency. Additionally, the Oxford Shoulder Score (OSS), Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder, and Hand (DASH), Constant Score, and SF-36 Health Survey tests were completed by each participant to assess the correlation with the NCS-Tr. Results: The main score of the NCS-Tr was detected as 79.71 ± 20.37. The other mean scores of CS, OSS, and DASH were found as 84.14 ± 21.47, 38.34 ± 12.43, and 17.84 ± 22.47 respectively. The translation and adaptation of the NCS-Tr for a Turkish context required no major cultural adaptation. Internal consistency was high (Cronbach’s alpha, 0.933). Test-retest reproducibility was excellent (q = 0.941, p

Background: There is serious distrust and hesitation in Turkish society against the concept of brain death and related cadaveric organ donation. In this study, we investigated the attitudes of health workers about organ transplantation from cadavers. We also evaluated the effects of race, religiosity and political conservatism parameters on the attitudes of the research group. Methods: A total of 491 participants between the ages of 18-70 who are hospital employees in different fields were included in this study. An Organ Donation Attitude Scale (ODAS) was applied to the participants, which specifically evaluates organ donation from cadavers, and the relationships between the emerging trend and the demographic characteristics of the participants, their education, the task they took in the hospital, ethnic and sectarian origins, religiosity and political conservatism characteristics were evaluated. Results: ODAS scores of our sample group did not show a significant relationship in terms of age, gender, ethnic origin and sect. On the other hand, there was a significant difference in the attitude toward organ transplantation in terms of education levels, the position that they work in the hospital, and the geographical region where the person came from. There was a negative relationship between cadaveric organ transplantation and religiousness and a positive relationship with liberal political views. Conclusion: The attitude towards organ transplantation from cadavers in our country is complex in a way that cannot be explained only by education. A conceptual study of cultural, religious and other different social aspects is necessary for our country.

An Organ Donation Attitude Scale (ODAS) was applied to the participants, which specifically evaluates organ donation from cadavers, and the relationships between the emerging trend and the demographic characteristics of the participants, their education, the task they took in the hospital, ethnic and sectarian origins, religiosity and political conservatism characteristics were evaluated. \u0000Results: ODAS scores of our sample group did not show a significant relationship in terms of age, gender, ethnic origin and sect. On the other hand, there was a significant difference in the attitude toward organ transplantation in terms of education levels, the position that they work in the hospital, and the geographical region where the person came from. There was a negative relationship between cadaveric organ transplantation and religiousness and a positive relationship with liberal political views. \u0000Conclusion: The attitude towards organ transplantation from cadavers in our country is complex in a way that cannot be explained only by education. A conceptual study of cultural, religious and other different social aspects is necessary for our country.","PeriodicalId":7003,"journal":{"name":"Acta Medica Alanya","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84680488","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
