Official Polish data, published by National Institute of Public Health, show that the flu season lasts from October to April of the following year, with the peak incidence between January and March. Since the beginning of the epidemic season 2018/2019, cases caused by influenza A virus constitute 99.1%, with 56.9% cases caused by the virus A/H1N1/pdm2009 and 43.1% - virus A/H3N2/. The incidence of influenza caused by B virus was 0.9% (1,2).

Studies indicate that reduced foetal haemoglobin levels are related to increased neonatal morbidity rates. This study investigated the relationships between sampling‐related blood loss and adult blood transfusions administered during postnatal days 1‐14 and the development of severe neonatal morbidities in extremely preterm infants born before 28 weeks of gestation.

When premature infants are given human milk it needs to be fortified with bovine protein to provide all the essential nutrients they need, including protein (1). The MIRIS human milk analyser (MIRIS AB, Uppsala, Sweden) analyses human milk at the bedside, but concerns have been raised about its accuracy (2).
