Associations between participation and personal factors in community-dwelling adults post-stroke. 中风后在社区居住的成年人的参与情况与个人因素之间的关联。

Purpose: To examine associations between post-stroke participation and personal factors, including demographic characteristics, self- and threat appraisals, and personality variables.

Methods: An exploratory cross-sectional study with purpose-designed survey was completed online or via mail. The survey was comprised of demographic and health-related questions and multiple questionnaires, including the Stroke Impact Scale Version 3.0 (SISv3) (participation/perceived recovery), Community Integration Questionnaire (CIQ) (participation), Head Injury Semantic Differential III (pre- vs post-stroke self-concept/self-discrepancy), Appraisal of Threat and Avoidance Questionnaire (threat appraisal), Life Orientation Test - Revised (optimism) and Relationships Questionnaire (adult attachment style) that measured variables of interest. Sixty-two participants, aged 24-96 years who had experienced a stroke (one or multiple events) and had returned to community living, completed the survey. Associations were examined using correlations, and univariate and multiple linear regression analyses.

Results: Regression analysis showed that greater participation, measured using the CIQ, was associated with younger age, female gender, lower self-discrepancy and higher perceived recovery, explaining 69% of the variability in CIQ participation. Further, greater participation on the SISv3 was associated with lower self-discrepancy and higher perceived recovery, explaining 64% of the variability in SISv3 participation.

Conclusions: Results indicate that personal factors, particularly self-appraisals like self-concept/self-discrepancy, in combination with perceived recovery may be important in explaining a large portion of variance in post-stroke participation. Specifically, findings highlight the interrelatedness of self-concept change, perceived recovery and post-stroke participation. Further longitudinal research is needed to clarify the directionality of these associations throughout the hospital-to-home transition.

Transverse Orbital Angular Momentum of Spatiotemporal Optical Vortices 时空光涡旋的横向轨道角动量

Spatiotemporal optical vortices (STOVs) are electromagnetic wave packets that transport a phase line singularity perpendicular to their propagation direction. We address the problem of the transverse orbital angular momentum (OAM) ``per photon"actually transported by STOVs propagating in free space or non-dispersive media, the most frequent experimental situation. Unlike longitudinal vortices in monochromatic light beams, STOVs do not carry any net transverse OAM about a fixed transverse axis crossing its center. However, STOVs transport an intrinsic transverse OAM per photon about a moving, transverse axis through its center, and an opposite extrinsic transverse OAM. Their applications would thus preclude setting particles at rest into rotation, but STOVs could transmit their intrinsic transverse OAM to photons of other waves. The intrinsic transverse OAM per photon of an elliptically symmetric STOV of frequency $omega_0$ and topological charge $l$ is $gamma l/2omega_0$, where $gamma$ is the STOV ellipticity. Thus circularly symmetric STOVs ($gamma=1$) carry half the intrinsic longitudinal OAM of circularly symmetric monochromatic light beams with a vortex of the same $l$ and $omega_0$. We show that the formula $(gamma+1/gamma)l/2omega_0$ for the intrinsic transverse OAM in Phys. Rev. A 107, L031501 (2023) yields infinite values and is not conserved on propagation for a particular STOV. When STOVs lose their elliptical symmetry upon propagation, they preserve the intrinsic transverse OAM $gamma l/2omega_0$ despite the phase singularity may split, the split singularities may disappear, or even change the sign of their topological charges.

A Fast Computation Method of Bands and Band Field Solutions of 3D Periodic Structures Using Broadband Green's Function-multiple Scattering Theory 基于宽带格林函数-多重散射理论的三维周期结构能带和带场解快速计算方法

|We extended the previous 2D method of BBGF-MST (Broadband Green’s function-Multiple Scattering Theory) approach to 3D problems in periodic structures. Band Structures and Band Field Solutions are calculated. A feature of BBGF is that the lattice Green’s functions are broadband so that the coefficients of the spherical wave expansions are calculated rapidly for many frequencies. These are then used for speedy calculations of the matrix elements of the KKR (Korringa-Kohn-Rostoker) eigenvalue equation. Using BBGF-MST, a low order matrix eigenvalue equation for the bands is derived. For the (cid:12)rst two bands, the dimension of the KKR matrix equation is only 4 by 4. With the use of BBGF, the CPU requirement for the BBGF-MST technique is 0.27 seconds on a standard laptop for solving the KKR eigenvalue equation. Numerical results of the band diagrams are illustrated. Higher order spherical waves are next used to calculate the normalized band (cid:12)eld solutions for the entire cell.

Optically Transparent and Mechanically Flexible Coplanar Waveguide-fed Wideband Antenna Based on Sub-micron Thick Micro-metallic Meshes 基于亚微米厚微金属网格的光学透明、机械柔性共面波导馈电宽带天线

|An optically transparent and (cid:13)exible coplanar waveguide (CPW)-fed wideband antenna is proposed and demonstrated experimentally based on sub-micron thick micro-metallic meshes ( (cid:22) -MMs). Due to the high visible transmittance (83.1%) and low sheet resistance (1.75 Ω/sq) of the silver (cid:22) -MM with thickness of only 190 nm, the transparent CPW has very low insertion loss and provides a good feed to the high-performance transparent antenna. The measured S 11 spectrum of our antenna matches well with that of the opaque counterpart. The measured fractional bandwidth is 22% from 3.4 to 4.25 GHz. Based on numerical modeling, whose accuracy is experimentally veri(cid:12)ed, the radiation efficiency and peak gain of our transparent antenna at 3.45 GHz are calculated to be 89.7% and 3.03 dBi, respectively. Besides the good optical and electromagnetic properties, our transparent antenna is also highly (cid:13)exible. Despite the sub-micron thick (cid:22) -MMs, the transparency, radiation efficiency, and mechanical properties of our transparent antenna are obviously superior to those of the transparent antennas reported previously, and the overall size and radiation gain are also comparable. Therefore, our transparent antenna has an excellent comprehensive performance, showing great potential for practical applications as well as the emerging applications in the (cid:12)eld of (cid:13)exible and wearable electronics.
