Empirical Model for Estimating Light Pipe Sidewall Scattering Loss 估算光管侧壁散射损失的经验模型

Using a geometric optics approximation for simulations and RMS slope for surface characterization, an empirical model is demonstrated that can then be used to estimate sidewall scattering loss for a range of waveguide parameters.

We demonstrate an integrated wavelength-compact plasmonic ITO-based Mach-Zehnder electro-optic modulator on Si platform, within a miniscule phase-shifter length of 2.5 µm, featuring a half-wave voltage and active device length product of VπL = 95 V·µm.

Based on magnetoelectric coupling in metamaterial, we present a broadband second harmonic generation (SHG). By combining different meta-molecules together, SHG with 2.7 μm bandwidth can be achieve in mid-infrared regime.

Motor inaccuracies in Interference Pattern Structured Illumination Imaging cause phase errors that effect image quality. We demonstrate that phase retrieval algorithms correct the phase errors and improve the resultant IPSII images.

We theoretically demonstrate a long-period grating (LPG) based single-mode fiber to multi-core fiber coupler. The coupling efficiency achieved was 24% of the input power, evenly distributed by all cores, using LPGs of length 4 cm.
