Based on the ideas of A.T. Still, the founder of osteopathy, and his own biomechanical model, J.M. Littlejohn developed a method known as General Osteopathic Treatment (GOT). This method was later further developed by J. Wernham, a direct student of Littlejohn, into Body Adjustment and subsequently into Total Body Adjustment (TBA). However, in addition to a few publications on GOT, only a small number of low-evidence studies have been conducted to date. Nevertheless, GOT offers current and future osteopaths not only the opportunity to reflect on the historical foundations of their discipline, but also provides them with a diagnostic and therapeutic approach that allows the ideas of the “founding fathers of osteopathy,” A.T. Still and J.M. Littlejohn, to be applied in everyday practice.
This 2nd part of the article presents the state of research from 2015 to the present and is followed by a discussion in which the author shares his experiences with General Osteopathic Treatment (GOT) and Total Body Adjustment (TBA) as both a lecturer and practitioner.
