Invasive Beatmung und prolongiertes Weaning 侵入性节育和长时间断奶

Mechanical ventilation is used as a life-sustaining tool in case of severe respiratory insufficiency. Weaning from the respiratory support is included in the process and the ability to breathe spontaneously independently. Prolonged weaning is the most difficult procedure. This process involves medical side effects, which should be counteracted by means of osteopathic approaches. For the evaluation of osteopathic influences in weaning, single-case studies in mixed method design were caried out. Osteopathic treatments were performed based on defined sequences of techniques. Quantitative data collection of medical measurement parameters was carried out in pre-post design. These were supplemented by standardized questionnaires regarding the patient's condition, as well as guided interviews. The results showed a supportive influence of osteopathic treatment on the weaning process.

Der Gesundheitsbegriff bei A.T. Still A.T. Still 的健康概念

„To find health should be the object of the doctor. Anyone can find disease.” Still challenged his followers in 1899 in Philosophy of Osteopathy [1] to find health as he understood it. The aim of the study was to examine the historical background and meaning of Andrew Taylor Still's concept of health. Since language and definitions of terms are a well-known problem in osteopathy, the methodological approach of this study could also be applied to other terms in order to establish a common language in osteopathy in the sense of science.

Strain Relief – Teil 3: Technische Ausführung 应力消除 - 第 3 部分:技术设计

Bone is elastic and malleable. However, if a bone does not return to its original shape after trauma, chronic traction, pressure or torsion, pain will remain in the bone and in the non-stretchable fascia, tendons, capsule and ligament structures involved. Following the introduction of the theoretical basis of a new manual method for the treatment of chronic pain in the musculoskeletal system with the strain-relief-concept in part 1 (issue 4/2023) [1], the second part (issue 1/2024) [2] dealt with the practical application of the concept to the lower extremity. This time it is shown how the bones of the upper extremity can manually be freed from the strain, thus successfully reducing or even eliminating pain.
