Nowadays, only a minority of people disagree that climate change is happenning (and is bad!), but to have a real debate it is important to look beneath the hype and clearly understand the energy system in today's context. For example, just what is the situation with the world's current energy resources? And how does renewable energy currently fit into the mix? In part 1 of this article, Yogi D Goswami sums up current thinking and looks at the figures. (Part 2 will be published in the next issue).
