This study deals with actual trends and developments in the research of community interpreting in the global, but also in local context. In the general introduction we try to define the term community interpreting according to the latest trends in this field. Our goal is to set some basic features, which can help to create a universal definition of the actual content of the term community interpreting. In the next part we concentrate on the development in the world and try to analyse the most significant research projects in the field. Finally, we show a short overview of the most important initiatives in the local context en introduce our own starting research, which will be focussed on the analysis of the actual state of community interpreting in Slovakia.

Abusing and insulting are verbal actions that are implemented in language in different ways. Specificity of abusing and linguistic means of expressing them results from many aspects of sociolinguistic and pragmatic nature. It is the concrete use of a given insult in the sitatuion context that launches its meaning in its entirety. The subject of the article are sociolinguistic and pragmatic aspects that influence usage and meaning of insults. Research material are zoonotic insults in German and Polish. The aim of the analysis is to indicate similarities and differences in the indicated scope.

The learning and teaching of German as a foreign language at universities seems to be a very suitable place, which offers a wide space for the memory-historical approach in the context of a culture-reflective foreign language teaching. The main purpose of this paper is to examine how the concept of the Places of Memory can be used in this lesson. Initially, the concepts of collective and cultural memory as well as (the) culture of remembrance are included, which are central for the concept of Places of Memory from the point of view of common scientific theories. Afterwards, the concept of Places of Memory will be briefly presented and in the following some reflections on the didactic potential of this concept will be represented by means of a concrete example. The example is anchored in the context of high school, specifically in teaching German as a foreign language, and the discourse space is represented by the Czech city of Brno, specifically the Jewish cemetery.

The literary region of South Bohemia is prominently represented on the Atlas of World Literature by Adalbert Stifter – some may also remember Hašek's "Budweiser Anabasis", an important element of Schwejk's wanderings into war. However, one of the most notorious father-figures in world literature, Hermann Kafka, comes from a small town in southern Bohemia, Wosek. This article would like to proceed in two directions. First, to reconstruct the world of origin of this father, a socialisation that in many ways also remained imprinted in the Kafka family. Hardness against oneself, the will to rise, physical presence and potency were qualities that Hermann Kafka acquired in this milieu and permanently "exemplified" to his son. The son repeatedly invoked this vitality of origin in many texts, not least in the "Brief an den Vater". On the other hand, the article will show the extent to which this Wosek world was incorporated into Franz Kafka's texts, for example, the extent to which the atmosphere of the village in the "Castle" novel reflects the concrete Wosek conveyed by the father, however alienated. This part is intended as a suggestion for further analyses.
