The development of the technical devices of today is nearly impossible to follow. From all of these devices, drones received the highest publicity. The results of this fast-paced development is certainly favourable to hobby aviators and professional users as well. However this fast spreading brings up many questions on the technical side, for example the safe and stable communication is concerned. The quality of the connection between the drone and its operator hugely depends on the current radio frequency (RF) pollution. The current RF connection in most cases uses a so-called point-to-point connection, but the future direction of development is control, using a mobile network, which offers several new possibilities, other than enhancing range. The article presents the development of communication channels between the drone and its user.

The article performs a comparative study between the image compression technique Local Binary Compressed format (LBC) proposed by the authors [11] and the standard image compression techniques used today (BMP, JPEG, PNG and GIF). The study is carried out for large medical images that need to be stored for longer periods of time. In the study, the most common types of medical images used are: X-rays and ultrasounds images. The effective representation of image format LBC is proven using an image quality index type, the Structural Similarity Index (SSIM).

A significant increase in wireless communication has been observed in the last decade. Traditional fixed spectrum allocation presents limitations to better spectrum utilization. Real-time secondary spectrum market seems to be appropriate approach to eliminating the problem of spectrum scarcity. Economic aspects of the new approach are still only partially investigated. Besides the conventional wholesale market with wholesale price paid for frequency spectrum, we introduce new system of allocation based on tax paid by operators for unused frequency spectrum. We aim to build an agent-based model of the real-time secondary spectrum market to compare two systems of spectrum allocation. We performed parameter sensitivity analysis and robustness against initial conditions. The results of the simulation show different impact on licence owner's revenue as well as operator's revenue.

In this work, an offline signature identification system based on Histogram of Oriented Gradients (HOG) vector features is designed. Handwritten signature images are collected at Yildiz Technical University, from 15 people, 40 samples from each. Before the HOG feature extraction, size fixing and noise reduction processes are applied to all signature images. HOG features are extracted from the noiseless same sized images. In order to prevent the waste of processing time and to eliminate the redundant features, PCA is applied to the dataset. Obtained dataset is used to train the GRNN. As a result, a 98.33 percent test accuracy is obtained by using the proposed method along with two-folded cross correlation.

In the previous paper [1], we have described specification of the domain-specific declarative language for natural language processing and information extraction tasks. This paper extends the previous specification of the language with the extensions, which allow to specify sequences of words and corresponding meta-data annotations in the vocabulary. The paper describes syntax extensions and internal structure of the vocabulary designed for efficient matching and low storage requirements.

The aim of this article is to describe the design, implementation and evaluation of the educational application to support learning of data mining algorithms. The role of the application is to help students to better understand the algorithms such as Naive Bayes classifier, decision trees and association rules. The application also includes a test area that allows students to generate and solve different types of tasks on one hand side and teachers provide an effective way to test students without the need for creating custom tests on the other side. Presented application was evaluated from the perspective of students and teachers of the subject Knowledge Discovery, in order to verify the functionality and usability of the application in the real teaching process.

Defibrillators are electronic sanitary apparatus, used for urgent surgery for restoration cardiac activity. Defibrillator is fast, effective and easy a method surgery and therefore are still more used. Practical education of engineers in this topic is limited, in particular to the potential risk of unwanted defibrillation pulse during operation of the device. Therefore, we designed and implemented own defibrillator having the characteristics of standard defibrillator with the difference that the output energy of the defibrillation pulse is lowered to a level that is safe for students. Although our proposed defibrillation pulse generator is responsible for its quality parameters of commercial devices is composed of standard electronic components, so that it could implement every student himself on solderless field.

This article reviews and demonstrates the necessary abstraction levels of interoperability for enhanced healthcare systems integration. Defined interoperability levels are mapped against the Open System Interconnection Model layers resulting in bridging the classical and the modern methodology. The clinical integration of eHealth consumer electronic technology is assessed according to the aforementioned terminology and methodology. The Cloud-based Open Telemedicine Interoperability Hub is demonstrated, summarized and validated as a link between classical healthcare information system architecture and emerging eHealth consumer electronics technology. This scientific research program is the manifestation of the trilateral cooperation among the University of Debrecen Faculty of Informatics, Semmelweis University 2nd Pediatric Clinic Department of Pulmonology and an industry partner. The demonstrated interoperability framework relies upon and intends to extend health level seven international standard for open healthcare systems interoperability. The novelty of this research is, that the presented Open Telemedicine Interoperability Hub is embedded in hybrid Cloud Architecture, and therefore it delivers the necessary highly improved transactional processing capacity that other contemporary technologies lack.

This paper deals with hybrid modelling and control of cyber-physical systems, which are part of a recently introduced phenomenon Industry 4.0. As a case study we look at a hydraulic system with hybrid dynamics represented by coupled tanks. The dynamical system contains two discrete modes, specifically with and without interaction. The nonlinear hybrid system was modelled using s-functions and then its linear description was created in the discrete PWA representation with the help of HYSDEL modelling framework. Both s-functions and HYSDEL are part of MATLAB/Simulink environment. After validation of the discrete PWA representation in comparison with the nonlinear hybrid system, LQR synthesis with reference trajectory tracking was designed for both discrete modes. Subsequently optimal control designed on the linear hybrid system in the discrete PWA representation was verified on the nonlinear hybrid system.

The aim of the experiment is to evaluate an effect of industrially used plasma sprayed coatings of the TBC on the heat transfer into the refractory material designed for aeronautical applications. This study uses basic structural material of combustion chambers — components of turbine engines highly thermally stressed during the operation by flow of hot gasses. Using the hot gasses from the gas burner, the operational conditions inside the combustion chambers are simulated. The use of the TBC coating shows positive effect on the alloy overheating reduction. The results demonstrated decrease of the temperature with values in the range of hundreds of °C for materials covered with the TBC. This phenomenon can contribute to the development of the new types of aircraft engines with higher operational temperature and better fuel economics.
