Abstract. Carbon steels are willingly used due to the favorable price-performance ratio. They usually do not operate in a non-corrosive state. However, there are products that are hard to protect against corrosion in their entirety. These products include pipes. It is easy to protect the outer layer of the pipe against aggressive environment. The problem with protection is caused by their inner surface. Typically, the working medium is the protective factor, usually filling the internal volume of the pipes completely. It happens, however, that corrosion occurs as a result of long storage of pipes in warehouses, usually in the open air. They are also used as working elements with partial liquid filling. They are then exposed to the environment. One of the corrosive agents is NaCl. The paper presents the results of corrosion rate tests of samples taken from R35 pipes in the environment of a 5% aqueous solution of NaCl at 10oC. The analyzes were carried out based on the determination of mass losses. On the basis of the tests carried out, the relationship between the rate of corrosion and the soaking time of the samples was determined. It was confirmed that on the basis of roughness parameters it is possible to draw conclusions about the suitability of steel for further operation.

Abstract. Nowadays activated carbon is a material generating great interest, as it is characterized by a vast surface area due to a high number of pores in its structure. Therefore, the main purpose behind its use is the filtration of impurities from air and water that can be adsorbed with high efficiency. Activated carbon can be easily modified as well. The paper describes activated carbon modification with copper-, manganese-, silver- and zinc salts. The effects of the selected impregnates and their concentrations were examined. The products included 5 adsorbent samples: four universal adsorbents, impregnated with all the above-mentioned salts, and one specific adsorbent sample, designed to adsorb lead(II) and mercury(II) ions and impregnated with zinc- and silver salts only. The premise was to obtain pure drinking water. Properties, such as bulk density, methylene blue number or iodine number were determined for the modified activated carbons. To test the efficiency of an improved adsorbent, an experiment with water highly contaminated with Pb(II) and Hg(II) was carried out, and its results revealed that absorption efficiency for these heavy metals exceeded 99.9%. The adsorber samples were also observed under a digital microscope to compare their appearance.

Abstract. Quality and safety of products and services are very important factors influencing customers' decisions about the purchase. They affect the level of customer satisfaction, but also their safety during consumption. A great deal of information about customers' perceptions of products can be inferred from the complaints they file. Complaint indicators can easily be used to analyze the quality of services available on the market. The purpose of the research was to analyze complaints filed by customers of a chosen e-shop from Poland. The analysis was based on data from January 2017 to December 2021. An analysis was made of the number of complaints filed in relation to the number of orders placed. The percentage of complaints recognized by the manufacturer and the reasons for filing complaints were presented. This analysis should be a starting point for the researched e-shop for improvement measures to raise the level of customer satisfaction.

Abstract. The paper concerns issues related to the fabrication and microstructural analysis of carbon and glass fiber-reinforced epoxy composites. For the purposes of the tests, ring samples of carbon fiber and glass fiber were fabricated, each sample being made of the same amount of material. The rings were produced by circumferentially wrapping fibers onto a rigid core. During winding, the fiber tension was changed for each sample to investigate whether the amount and distribution of fibers in the composite depending on the force applied. The applied tension forces ranged from 18 to 138 N. In the next stage of tests, small fragments were cut out of the rings, cutting perpendicularly to the arrangement of fiber bundles. The cut elements were then embedded in epoxy resin. The microsections prepared in this were ground using a grinding disc with a gradation of 80 to 4000 and then polished, washed and dried. After these treatments, microscopic photos of the tested surfaces were taken. Observations were made using a NEOPHOT 32 microscope with an integrated camera and a KEYENCE VHX microscope. The volume fraction of voids and discontinuities in the matrix, as well as the volume fraction of fibers, were determined by measuring the percentage of the surface areas occupied by the appropriate components of the composite. On each cross-section of individual samples, photographs were taken in three planes parallel to the composite layers and three planes perpendicular to the fibers in the matrix system. The image analysis method was used for verification, in which it is assumed that the assessment of fiber distribution in a two-dimensional section is representative of its volumetric distribution. This method is mainly used to analyze the distribution of fibers with a constant cross-section. The most important conclusions from the conducted analyses allow the authors to state that in both composites the fibers in the matrix are highly packed and that there was no significant and noticeable effect of fiber tension during winding on the "packing" density of fibers in the composites.

Abstract. The need to protect the Earth's resources necessitates pro-ecological activities. One of the aspects of these activities is the rational management of post-production and post-consumer waste. One of the materials whose production significantly pollutes the natural environment is concrete. On the other hand, the analysis of the literature carried out in the work showed that it is a material that can absorb a significant amount of processed waste used as a substitute for cement or aggregate. These are polymer materials of various origins, residues from biomass combustion and, above all, steel slag, which has long been used in construction in various forms. One of the types of this material is lumpy steel slag, which has been used for years mainly in road construction as a replacement for crushed stone in the construction of the road base. The paper presents instrumental tests of the influence of the lump slag content used as a replacement for basalt aggregate on selected parameters of concrete (compressive strength, water absorption, volume density). The research showed that such a modification of the mixture composition does not significantly change the tested parameters. The lump slag can therefore be successfully used in the production of normal and heavy concrete.

Abstract. Ergonomics is an interdisciplinary science that applies to various aspects of our lives, extending beyond the workplace. Ergonomics enhances work, education, and leisure activities for lifelong well-being. This article presents the ergonomic principles of the preschool child's world that influence the correct psychophysical development of the child. A quantitative study was conducted in seven non-public kindergartens in the Silesian voivodeship, using direct interviews and elements of overt observation. The study aimed to identify strengths and weaknesses in the ergonomics of kindergartens' organizational and technical spaces, specifically focusing on legal requirements for safe and ergonomic working conditions for children up to the age of 6. The results highlight the challenges faced by designers and kindergarten directors in creating an ergonomic environment for children, revealing numerous difficulties in this area. There is increasing recognition of the importance of ergonomic and safe organizational and technical conditions in early childhood education. The obtained research results are a valuable contribution to a larger study on ergonomics and safety in Polish pre-schools, scheduled for the coming years.
