For polarization-independent and low-crosstalk switching operation a Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI) type photonic switch using Multi-mode interference (MMI) couplers, an optimal structure was investigated. As a result, the combination of high-mesa and middle-mesa waveguides was found to realize low-crosstalk of -30 dB and polarization-independent semiconductor high-speed photonic switch.

10 GE optical layer protection evaluation using PLZT optical switches 基于PLZT光开关的10ge光层保护评估

The frame loss periods of the optical layer protection switching using PLZT optical switches, which can provide 10 ns order switching time, is evaluated. Experimental results show that 60 mus guard time after switching is required for 10 Gbps Ethernet which uses commercial available XFP modules.
利用PLZT光开关提供10 ns的阶数交换时间,对其光层保护交换的丢帧周期进行了评估。实验结果表明,采用商用XFP模块的10gbps以太网交换后的保护时间为60 μ s。

Expansion of dynamic range of all-optical intensity equalizer based on effective self-phase-modulation by using pre-chirped signals 基于预啁啾信号有效自调相的全光强度均衡器动态范围扩展

To cope with a large intensity fluctuation of optical signals in optical networks, we expand the dynamic range of our proposed all-optical intensity equalizer by using effective self-phase modulation with pre-chirped signals. We have numerically confirmed a remarkable effect of proposed SPM alleviation method by pre-chirped signals for achieving a large dynamic range beyond those of the conventional SPM-based techniques.

For ASON/GMPLS multi-domain networks, three routing models, such as per-domain routing, ASON hierarchical routing, and PCE-based routing, have been being standardized. We compare these three routing models in terms of path-computation capabilities, online path-planning capabilities and inter-domain confidentiality.

A bidirectional WDM-PON exploiting reflective semiconductor amplifiers at the optical network unit (ONU) and a multiwavelength RZ pulsed signal comb at the Central Office (CO) is presented. The reflective SOA acts simultaneously as downstream modulation eraser, upstream amplifier and modulator, thus making the ONU wavelength-independent.
