Notch filters in photonic crystal (PC) structures play an important role in designing integrated photonic circuits. One way to making such filters is cavity waveguide coupling in PC structures. In this work, we introduce a new kind of such filters that contains cavities with open structure.

In the finite element method (FEM), the matrix equation can be solved either using a direct elimination method or an iterative method. The conjugate gradient (CG) is a common-used iterative method. But there are several limits in its application. In order to overcome the disadvantages, a preconditioned conjugate gradient (PCG) method based on the incomplete Cholesky decomposition is introduced in this paper. And this PCG method is applied to the analysis of an electromagnetic wave tool.

Nuclear magnet resonance (NMR) logging is an advanced method in formation evaluation and oil field production. It can provide the porosity, permeability, bound water volume, free fluid volume and oil viscosity. NMR logging is playing more and more important roles in oil and gas exploitation. The antenna is a core of NMR logging tools. It can transmit the electromagnetic wave and receive the NMR signal. As the NMR logging signal intensity and resolution is influenced by the antenna length, the antenna design is very important for NMR sonde design. The more antenna length is, the more signal intensity is, but the weaker vertical resolution is. In order to optimize the antenna design and accelerate the development of NMR logging tools, a FEM mathematic model of B1 magnetic field distribution of NMR logging tools is established in the paper. FEM is applied to solve Bi magnetic distribution of NMR logging tools, which can obtain the currency intensity, determine the sensitive zone, and improve the signal intensity and signal-to-noise ratio.

In this paper, a novel compact broadband dual frequency microstrip antenna is presented. The proposed design consists of a rectangular microstrip antenna with a pair of parallel slots loaded close to the radiating edge of the patch and three meandering narrow slots embedded in the antenna's groundplane. Experimental study was carried out by varying the length of the meandering slot. Using three meandering slots in the groundplane a significant lowering of the both resonant frequencies is obtained with an enhanced operational bandwidth in comparison to standard rectangular microstrip antenna without slots. An increase in the bandwidth is more significant for lower resonant frequency. With the proposed design a size reduction of 50.6% and 30% for the two resonant frequencies is obtained with the measured bandwidths of 12.2% and 4.5% respectively. The two frequencies have an operation frequency ratio of 1.40.

The scattering characteristics of the planar array composed of impedance terminated dipoles are studied by finite difference time domain (FDTD) method. The current distribution on the dipoles and the radar cross section (RCS) of the array are obtained and analyzed. It is seen that the array with inductance terminated dipole tends to give lower RCS. Results of this paper are in agreement with those obtained by moment method.

This paper reports a novel circularly polarized rectenna designed and measured at 5.8 GHz for application involving microwave power transmission (WPT). A truncated corner square patch microstrip antenna used for the rectenna was developed. The axial ratio achieved was 0.3 dB at 5.82 GHz. A silicon Schottky barrier diode is employed as the rectifying device. Measured conversion efficiency results of the rectenna proved that the rectenna is suitable for component of the WPT system.

In this paper, facilities of antenna measurement have recently commissioned a spherical far-field measurement system. The low profile far-field spherical scan system provides significant advantages over the older far-field testing including elimination of problem of simple theta (thetas) and phi (phi) rotary axis with indoor far-field range testing, complete measurement characterization of the antenna, and improved accuracy. The mobile phone under test of far-field range testing has been the plan at the Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association (CTIA) certification program test requirements for performing radiated power and receiver performance measurement. This paper will discuss the antenna and wireless system integration tested with the TRP/TIS and spherical antenna measurement for far-field system. The spherical far-field antenna system applied to total radiation efficiency, mean effective gain (EMG) and diversity gain measurement and applications.

The purpose of this work is to design a wideband DTV (Digital TV) antenna with a multiple-structure of transmission line antenna. A technique of varying the width of transmission line antenna is developed firstly to shorten its length. By adding three individual transmission line antenna with different bands together, a wideband characteristics is achieved in the UHF band. This is suitable for digital TV reception, especially for the DVB-T, which is based on the OFDM, because of its near omni-directional pattern.

The singlet, which contains one resonator and generates one transmission zero, has been introduced as the most basic building block for modular design of elliptic filters. In this paper, we present a computer aided design approach for singlet design. The proposed CAD approach is applied to the design of a singlet with center frequency 28 GHz. It shows good agreement with the synthesized results.

How to reduce the Peak-to-Average Power Ratio (PAPR) in Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) signals has become one of the key problems in OFDM system. By analyzing the reason of high PAPR, a new nonlinear companding method is proposed to reduce the PAPR in this paper. Then we give the optimal value of the parameter in this scheme. At last, our simulation results confirm that the suggested scheme exhibits good performances in both time and frequency domains by comparing with other methods.
