A novel printed S-shaped monopole antenna for tri-band wireless local area network (WLAN) operation is presented. The antenna consists of two meander radiating strips leading to generate two separate resonant modes where the first mode is for the 2.4 GHz-band and the second mode is for the 5.2/5.8 GHz-band operation. The proposed antenna has a measured impedance bandwidths of 2.24-2.64 GHz and 4.95-6 GHz, and owns good radiation characteristics across the impedance bandwidths, with a compact size of 28 x 15 x 1.6 mm3 including the ground plane.

This paper proposes a new design method for predicting anti-jam capabilities of the whole digital communication receiver based upon behavioral-level simulation techniques. Detailed design procedure is presented to describe particular design of the bit error ratio (BER) specifications of the radio frequency (RF) receiver of a direct sequencing spread-spectrum (DSSS)/binary phase shift keying (BPSK) system. This method is validated by employing the behavioral modeling in advanced design system (ADS) of Agilent company.

In this paper the properties of the transmitting waveforms and the footprints with the linear-end wire bow-tie antenna are measured and simulated by the FDTD method. The results of the simulations and the measurements are contrasted. The two types of results are in basic agreement. These results are beneficial to the deep studies about the linear-end wire bow-tie antennas.

The system performance is analyzed using a new modulation scheme called time-hopping(TH) MN-ary biorthogonal pulse amplitude position modulation(MN BPAPM) for ultra wideband(UWB) systems with asynchronous multiple- access interference (MAI) in an additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel. Closed-form expressions of symbol error rate (SER) and channel capacity are provided, then the simple expressions are obtained. The performance of TH MN BPAPM and MN-ary orthogonal PPM(MN OPPM) schemes are compared in terms of the SER in the end. It is shown that the TH MN BPAPM provides better performance with lower demodulator complexity that the TH MN OPPM system. Meanwhile, for the TH MN BPAPM system, the larger N leads to lower system SER and higher channel capacity.

A solution on velocity compensation for a dual-channel stepped-frequency testing radar is presented. The target's radial velocity was estimated real-timely by using high resolution range profiles of the target from two bands respectively, and then compensation was carried out to get the target's real location for automatic target range tracking. An effective method to calculate target's real location avoiding complex computation in direct compensation procedure is discussed. Experimental results are also given and analyzed in this paper.

This paper describes the 3D spherical antenna measurement system for a passive antenna measurement, CTIA (Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association) OTA (Over The Air) testing and characterizing of mobile MIMO (Multiple-Input Multiple-Output) terminals. The measurements of the monopole box are performed for the calibration of the proposed measurement system. Finally, the proposed system is able to measure the experimental model of MIMO terminal with adapting the diversity antenna system.

In this paper, the differences between circular synthetic aperture radar (CSAR) and traditional linear synthetic aperture radar are briefly analyzed with mathematical model of CSAR introduced. To verify the conclusion that CSAR can get much higher resolution than traditional linear SAR can, even with the same radar parameters, we present an approximation method using linear spotlight SAR to simulate CSAR and show the simulation results. How to fuse spectrums of all subapertures is described in detail.

A novel synthetic transmission line and its coupling structure are shown in this paper. By connected strips in different layers with periodic metallic vias, it provides a stronger coupling with effective broad-side than conventional edge coupling. This paper presented the analysis method and the design process of directional coupler. A broadband directional coupler with three-sections is designed and measured.

A microstrip reflectarray antenna is a flat reflector antenna which consists a thin reflecting surface made up of many individual elements and an illuminating feed. This kind of antenna has many good characteristics than traditional parabolic reflectors, such as low profile, easily deployable, lower manufacturing cost and scannable beam. A 200 mm-diameter microstrip reflectarray antenna is designed by using MOM-based commercial EM software FEKO. The maximum right hand circularly polarization gain is 19 dB and the sidelobe level is -18 dB at 8 GHz. The aperture efficiency is 40% and the circular polarization axial ratio is 2 dB.

In this paper, the effect of array aperture distribution errors is considered and discussed, and a low sidelobe planar array antennas is synthesized. Through theory analyzing and calculating, the low sidelobe design method is obtained, and the design criterion is given. Furthermore, the results that considered the effect of array aperture distribution errors are compared with the ideal results that obtained from the Taylor line source method. It is shown that the sidelobe levels (SLLs) are enhanced because of the effect of feed aperture distribution errors. Thus the design method has a better application.
