Introduction Teleworking is a reality for many workers around the world, and although it has advantages, there are recent studies indicating that it can have a negative impact on workers’ mental health, increasing the risk of anxiety, depression and stress. Methodology A literature search was conducted in March 2023 in the Scopus, SciELO, PePSIC, PsycInfo, PubMed, Applied Social Sciences Index and Abstracts (ASSIA) and Web of Science databases. Contents Telework allows the execution of work tasks without the need to physically move to the workplace. It is a practice that has advantages such as greater flexibility, autonomy, cost reduction and increased productivity, but can also have disadvantages and psychosocial risks for workers. The COVID-19 pandemic was a milestone of revolution in several aspects worldwide and, in this particular context, it marked a massive adoption of the Telework model by several companies. However, it is imperative to define strategies to prevent psychosocial risks and implement a sustainable model in order to ensure the physical and psychological well-being of individuals. The selected articles highlight as the main psychosocial risk factors the “work-family” conflict and its and demands. Discussion and Conclusions It is important that all health professionals, and in particular occupational health physicians, recognize the main psychosocial risks associated with Telework. Only through the development and implementation of preventive measures will be possible to minimize the consequences of telework and ensure a healthy working environment for all employees. Keywords: Psychosocial Risks, Telework, Occupational Health, Mental Health, Occupational Medicine, Occupational Nursing.
方法于2023年3月在Scopus、SciELO、PePSIC、PsycInfo、PubMed、Applied Social Sciences Index and Abstracts (ASSIA)和Web of Science数据库中进行文献检索。

Introduction/framework/objectives Latex allergy is recognized as a widespread health problem that assumed serious proportions in the 1990s. Although preventive measures have markedly decreased its incidence, recent studies have shown that it remains an important health problem in certain population groups, particularly in developing countries. This work aims to provide a comprehensive review of the current status of occupational latex allergies. We summarize various aspects of this condition, such as prevalence, risk groups, latex allergens, the diagnostic approach, prevention, and treatment. Methodology A bibliographic review was carried out in January 2023 in the following databases: PubMed/Medline, Cochrane Library, Evidence-based Medicine, Canadian Medical Association, Practice Guidelines and National Guideline Clearinghouse. Content Repeated exposure to latex in an occupational context can lead to worker sensitivity, with a significant clinical and socio-economic impact. We summarize various aspects of this condition, such as prevalence, risk groups, latex allergens, the diagnostic approach, prevention and treatment. Discussion and Conclusions The history of latex allergies has demonstrated that potent allergens such as Natural Rubber Latex proteins can cause rapid immunoglobulin-E-mediated sensitization and clinical allergies, reaching serious proportions in highly exposed individuals. Occupational exposure has a decisive influence on the allergen sensitivity profile, with important clinical and therapeutic consequences. The effectiveness of secondary prevention measures is limited. Thus, it is essential to implement early primary prevention measures in individuals belonging to risk groups, to avoid or minimize exposure to latex allergens. KEYWORDS: Healthcare Professionals, Latex allergy, Latex gloves, Latex hypersensitivity, Natural rubber latex, Occupational diseases, Occupational health, Occupational Medicine.

Estará a legislação adequada à realidade atual?

Introduction An occupational disease is a bodily injury, functional disturbance or pathology that is a necessary and direct consequence of exposure to occupational hazards and working conditions and does not result from the normal wear and tear of the body. The incidence of work-related diseases increases with age, being more frequent in females. Musculoskeletal injuries and paralysis, such as carpal tunnel syndrome, are the types of injuries most often recognized as occupational illnesses. Concerning the most predominant sector, the incidence is higher in industry, followed by construction and in the health area. Health professionals, given their exposure to ergonomic, physical, biological and chemical risks, have a high willingness to suffer from work-related illnesses. Objectives Characterize the profile of occupational diseases reported in a portuguese tertiary hospital, assessing their temporal distribution, the most affected professional category, as well as the type of injury and predominant body region. Methods An observational, cross-sectional and analytical study was realized using the analysis of occupational diseases reported in a portuguese tertiary hospital from January 2012 to December 2021, by consulting the Occupational Health Service databases. Results During the period considered, 610 occupational diseases were reported, of which 78.0% were female. The most affected professional category was nurses (40.8%), followed by operational assistants (28.5%). The year with the most notifications was 2021 (53.9%). SARS-CoV-2 infection was the most prevalent, with 431 cases, followed by musculoskeletal injuries, with 153 cases. Epicondylitis and tendinopathies of the shoulder joint were the most frequently notified musculoskeletal diseases with 39.7% and 24.0% of the participations, respectively. Conclusion Musculoskeletal injuries stand out as the most frequently reported type of injury, if we exclude the impact of SARS-CoV-2 infection, which is easily explained by exposure to the risks inherent in professions in the health sector. Its diagnosis and recognition are of great importance as they allow identifying problems and generate the need to provide a targeted response based on disease prevention and health promotion, among workers and employers. Introduction/framework/objectives The study of cancer and work-related etiology has been increasing, revealing some associations with previously undervalued occupational risk factors. In this sense, it is legitimate to find out whether Thyroid Cancer can be associated with certain occupational characteristics, so that occupational health and safety teams can effectively carry out its work. Thus, the aim of this review is to gather as much scientific evidence on the phenomenon as possible, to promote a healthier and safer work environment. Methodology This is a bibliographic review, initiated through a search carried out in January 2022, in the databases “CINALH plus with full text, Medline with full text, Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effects, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, Cochrane Methodology Register, Nursing and Allied Health Collection: comprehensive, MedicLatina and RCAAP”. Content In recent decades, this pathology has increased to about three times more, becoming one of the most frequent in some countries, which may be associated with the existence of greater medical surveillance and more regular auxiliary diagnostic exams, not least because most of the lesions detected are increasingly small and premature: although other researchers consider that the increase in incidence is real, due to ionizing radiation and worsening of the Body Mass Index. Discussion and Conclusions The work circumstances that seem to be more associated are ionizing radiation, as well as some dust and chemical agents present in demolition areas/collapsed buildings and/or mercury, although without full consensus among researchers. It will be necessary to carry out further studies to prove the etiology of work origin, which will only be possible if the Occupational Health and Safety teams are aware of the problem and carry out epidemiological studies to investigate this potential causality. Keywords: thyroid cancer, ionizing radiation, occupational health, occupational medicine and safety at work.

Introduction The literature highlights the importance of training the basic life support, also in the occupational context, since although most organizations are not prepared, an average of 10,000 cardiorespiratory arrests occur per year in the workplace. From here emerges the need for companies to empower workers to respond quickly and effectively, at least until the arrival of differentiated help. Objectives Identify the strategies and programmes that, in an occupational context, enable workers to intervene in the face of a cardiorespiratory arrest. Methodology Systematic review of the literature according to the methodology of the Joanna Briggs Institute. As inclusion criteria, we defined studies available in full and free text, published from 2002 in Portuguese, English and German. The research was carried out during the month of November 2022 through the EbscoHost using the databases Cinahl with Full Text, Medline with Full Text, MedicLatina, Nursing & Allied Health Collection: Comprehensive and Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews. The research equation was used: (programs or interventions or strategies or education) AND (workplace or work environment or work spaces or office or job) AND (basic life support or cardiopulmonary resuscitation or CPR) AND (occupational health and safety) NOT (healthcare or health care or hospital or health services or health facilities). Results Ten articles identified strategies and programs that enable workers to act in a cardiac arrest. The results attest to the importance of simulation, including using virtual and augmented reality, demonstration, role-playing, gamification, the use of mobile applications due to their accessibility and ease of use, theoretical face-to-face sessions and practices in groups and individuals with trained instructors ensuring feedback, offering a kit of materials with instructions and also involving community resources and all hierarchical levels of the companies. Options such as dissemination of statistical data, testimony from occupational health professionals and survivors can be useful as awareness-raisers. Conclusion It reinforces the need to implement training programs and strategies for workers that are effective and allow for improved outcomes in the event of cardiorespiratory arrests. It is believed that organizations that are committed to promoting a safe environment and empowering their workers, assuming this social responsibility, can have positive impacts for all stakeholders, for the company itself and for society in general, as they contribute to the resource management. Keywords: Community Participation; Cardiopulmonary resuscitation; Health strategies; Review.
使用研究方程:(计划或干预措施或策略或教育)AND(工作场所或工作环境或工作空间或办公室或工作)AND(基本生命支持或心肺复苏术或CPR) AND(职业健康与安全)NOT(医疗保健或保健或医院或卫生服务或卫生设施)。

Introduction Healthcare professionals are exposed to a multitude of occupational risks that can lead to work-related injuries, resulting in implications both at the hospital management level and community level. For the development of a preventive safety culture, it is essential to analyze the causes that lead to their occurrence. This study is a descriptive and analytical analysis of the work-related injuries that occurred in a hospital unit, characterizing them and relating them to occupational risks. The target population of the study consists of healthcare workers from a tertiary hospital in the north of Portugal. Aims Analysis of the work-related injuries recorded by the Occupational Health Service in a Portuguese tertiary hospital. Methods Retrospective observational study between January 2017 and December 2022. Data were obtained from the Occupational Health Service software. Results A total of 1279 work-related injuries were recorded from 2017 to 2022, of which 93,8% took place in the facilities of the Hospital Center. The majority of them (82,8%) occurred in female workers. A higher number of work-related injuries was observed among healthcare assistants (43.2%) and nurses (35.5%). The mechanical risk was found to have the highest incidence (46,4%), followed by biological (26,3%) and ergonomic (22,4%) risks. The upper limb (46,3%) and lower limb (22,4%) were the anatomical regions most affected by the accidents. Most of the lost days resulting from work-related injuries were in the range of 3 to 30 days (58,8%). Discussion and Conclusion Work-related injuries presented a variable distribution throughout the studied period and most of these took place within the Hospital Center. The mechanical risk, which is essentially responsible for musculoskeletal injuries, was the leading cause of injury, followed by biological risk, in accordance with the literature. There was a significant increase in the number of work-related injuries related to psychosocial risks, which is directly related to violent behaviors against hospital staff making it urgent to develop preventive measures in this area. Due to the morbidity caused and the consequent absenteeism, work-related injuries contributed to a significant loss of productivity. Therefore, it is essential to keep investing in preventive policies and improvement of the work conditions in the healthcare sector. Introduction/framework/objectives Testicular Cancer usually appears at earlier ages than other oncological pathologies, therefore, it is more likely to be diagnosed in the active population. It is suspected that part of the cases may have an occupational etiology, so it will be relevant to develop efforts for its early diagnosis and prevention. In this sense, this review intends to highlight the most relevant publications on the subject, to facilitate the work of occupational health teams. Methodology The research and bibliographic review were carried out in January 2022, in the databases “CINALH plus with full text, Medline with full text, Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effects, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, Cochrane Methodology Register, Nursing and Allied Health Collection: comprehensive, MedicLatina and RCAAP”. Content It is most frequent in developed countries; corresponds to 1% of all cancers diagnosed in men, considering all age groups. Incidences have been increasing to nearly double over the last four decades in most countries, possibly due to some occupational and/or environmental exposures. Discussion and Conclusions Occupational issues that seem to be more related to this cancer are contact with some chemical agents (namely pesticides, asbestos, solvents and heavy metals); as well as ionizing radiation. Thus, some of the most relevant sectors will be agriculture, civil construction, demolitions, industry with the production of chemical agentes, paper and plastics, laundries and firefighters. It would be relevant for some Occupational Health and Safety teams to dedicate some time to investigating these issues, enhancing global scientific knowledge on this topic and, in particular, deepening the national level (global incidence, more relevant sectors/professions/tasks, as well as collective and individual protection measures most used and effective). KEYWORDS: testicular cancer, asbestos, pesticides, occupational health, occupational medicine, occupational safety.

Introduction The labor rights of pregnant women are of great relevance for the doctors that follow the pregnancy, as well as for the Occupational Health doctors. For them to be able to ensure work safety for this vulnerable group, they need to have a good understanding of the work laws. The multidisciplinarity between the two medical specialties can constitute an important alliance in the identification of specific labor risks, and the orientation of the worker. Methodology This is an review of the portuguese legislation conducted in november of 2022, regarding the Portuguese Work Code, complemented by the Practical Guide of the Subsidy of Specific Risks, from the Social Security Institute. Contents Pregnant workers must be considered a susceptible group for specific risks and there must be taken measures regarding their health and security, from various points of view. This cannot result in disadvantage in the work market and it cannot affect the equality of treatment between men and women. It’s the pregnant women right that the work conditions are evaluated, and, if needed, adapted by the employer, so the safety of the mother and the fetus is guaranteed. Discussion and Conclusions It’s important for health professionals to be informed about the work rights of pregnant women. The collaboration with Occupational Health professionals is essential in the right identification of specific work risks, so that the pregnancy can proceed without exposured to such risks and, in the case of such exposure, they can be rightly adjusted. Keywords: Labor rights; Pregnancy; General and Familiar Medicine; Occupational Medicine; Occupational Health.
