INTRODUCTION The infection by the Influenza virus is considered a public health problem, causing severe illness and death, above all, in high-risk population. The vaccination against Influenza has proved to be effective in protecting patients and health professionals from nosocomial infections and in reducing absenteeism due to illness. Pityriasis Lichenoides represent a group of inflammatory skin diseases with a variable clinical spectrum. Cases of Pityriasis Lichenoides related to vaccination are rare, therefore, this work represents an opportunity to report about this syndrome, whilst contributing to the identification and clarification of one of the possible adverse effects of vaccination against Influenza. CASE DESCRIPTION We report a case of 59-years-old health professional man, who attended an Occupational Medicine consultation due to the arising of a three days evolution erythematous papules on the trunk, abdomen and upper limbs, associated with pruritus, after carrying out Influenza vaccine (Influvac TetraÒ), as part of the seasonal flu vaccination program at the Occupational Health Service. The diagnosis of Pityriasis Lichenoides induced by the Influenza vaccine was considered due to the clinical and histopathological data. DISCUSSION Amongst the general literature, there are few reported cases of Pityriasis Lichenoides in connection with Influenza vaccination. The most frequently associated vaccines are the anti-measles, anti-mumps, and anti-rubella, and only one case is reported with direct link to the vaccine against Influenza. The article has the particularity of focusing on a case over a health professional which carries a greater risk of exposure to the virus, resulting from professional activity. Nevertheless, is a chronic patient (diabetic) and at a higher risk of serious illness/complications. CONCLUSIONS Despite being a rare syndrome, we emphasize the right for a correct recognition, diagnosis and approach to this disease. Furthermore, the adherence to Influenza vaccination is strongly linked to the fear of adverse effects, which makes it crucial to train professionals involved in Influenza vaccination for correct counseling and follow-up in the vaccination process. KEY WORDS: Influenza, Vaccine, Pityriasis Lichenoides, Health-care Worker, Occupational Health, Work Medicine.

Introduction/framework/objectives There are several cancers that can be associated with some characteristics of the Work. Regarding the oncological pathology of the Kidney, there are not many publications. The aim of this review was to summarize what has been reported on the subject to date, in order to enhance the performance of Occupational Health and Safety Teams working in possibly targeted sectors. Methodology This is a Bibliographic Review, initiated through a search carried out in January 2022 in the databases “CINALH plus with full text, Medline with full text, Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effects, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, Cochrane Methodology Register, Nursing and Allied Health Collection: comprehensive, MedicLatina and RCAAP”. Content Kidney Cancer, at the level of non-occupational etiology, may be associated with tobacco, obesity and high blood pressure (metabolic syndrome), as well as Cystic Kidney Disease, male gender, older age, black ethnicity and family history. It is believed that tobacco can explain 20 to 30% of it in men and 10 to 20% in women; being the dose-dependent relationship. The association with arterial hypertension also seems to be dose-dependent and more intense above 160 and 100 mmHg for systolic and diastolic, respectively. There are several working conditions capable of enhancing it; even so, studies sometimes do not consider the possible influence of biasing variables, such as smoking, including passive. Discussion and Conclusions Although without absolute consensus, this cancer seems to be enhanced by exposure to Radon/Uranium, Asbestos, Pesticides, derivatives of Fuels and various Chemical Agents (such as tri and tetrachlorethylene, dinitrotoluene and lead). Thus, the most targeted professional sectors could be mining; civil and naval construction, demolition sector; agriculture; production, packaging and distribution of relevant chemical agents; refineries and filling stations; as well as dry cleaning, printing, car and aircraft mechanics, maintenance, metallurgy, drivers and road pavers. It would be pertinent for some Occupational Health and Safety teams to initiate research projects in this context, for subsequent dissemination of conclusions, in order to advance knowledge and provide a healthier and safer work environment. KEYWORDS: kidney cancer, occupational health, occupational medicine and safety at work.

Introduction/framework/objectives There are work circumstances that can increase the oncological risk and Breast Cancer is no exception to this situation. However, knowledge on this subject is not particularly abundant among workers and/or Occupational Health and Safety teams professionals. This review was intended to mitigate this issue. Methodology This is a Bibliographic Review, initiated through a search carried out in January 2022 in the databases: “CINALH plus with full text, Medline with full text, Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effects, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, Cochrane Methodology Register, Nursing and Allied Health Collection: comprehensive, MedicLatina and RCAAP”. Content Night shifts are chronodisruptive, probably due to decreased melatonin production. Other researchers add that night work and/or nocturnal exposure to light disturbs the circadian rhythm and hormone secretion (with emphasis also on prolactin, glucocorticoids, adrenocorticotropic hormone, corticoliberin and serotonin). However, there is no consensus that night shifts imply lower levels of prolactin secretion and that this is associated with Breast Cancer. Some studies may be biased due to having studied night shifts versus exposure to light during these shifts (the latter being the situation that presents evidence of moderately increasing the risk of this Cancer). In addition, more recent investigations consider more possibly biasing variables. It is believed that nocturnal exposure to light implies changes in the production of melatonin and vitamin D. However, others consider that these data are not supported by robust scientific evidence or free of controversy, even due to the difference between the different types of night shifts. In 2007, the IARC published some data on this possible relationship- namely that night shifts were probably carcinogenic to humans (group 2A), and/or that there was evidence of an association between oncological processes and night shifts, probably for Breast Cancer in particular, based on sufficient evidence in animals and limited evidence in humans. Discussion and Conclusions Most of the bibliography on the subject emphasizes night shifts and/or exposure to light during them as a work etiology, although without full consensus between causality and/or pathophysiology. Pesticides, solvents and products included in kitchen fumes (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons), aldehydes and polycyclic aromatic amines) are also mentioned. It would be an asset for some Occupational Health and Safety professionals, with adequate logistical capacity, to investigate the area, subsequently disclosing the conclusions covered. Keywords: breast cancer, occupational health, occupational medicine and occupational safety.

Introduction Brucellosis is a zoonosis caused by a gram-negative coccobacillus bacterium of the genus Brucella, which can be transmitted by direct contact with animals or their secretions. Is an acute or subacute systemic disease that generally starts two to four weeks after inoculation. Its symptoms are nonspecific, but typically are presented with fever, night sweats, arthralgias or asthenia. Although being endemic in underdeveloped countries, is still an underdiagnosed and underreported disease. Case Report This is a 28 year old veterinarian assistant male, with close and frequent contact with cattle, sheep and goats. He is unaware of having ever been submitted to an aptitude test for work and, as personal protective equipment, uses gloves and a rubber apron only. He was observed in the hospital emergency department, due to recurrent testicular pain and constitutional symptoms. Serology test showed a borderline IgG for brucellosis. Therefore, the case was notified in the National System of Epidemiological Vigilance. The patient was treated with doxycycline and rifampicin, and the testicle was surgically removed. The surgical piece accused Brucella spp, which confirmed the diagnosis of brucellosis with orchiepididymitis. Discussion Considering that the symptoms of brucellosis are unspecific, a detailed clinical history, including occupational exposure/background, is fundamental for the diagnosis. The incidence of cases associated with occupational exposure is relevant, being veterinarians and large animal veterinary assistants among the professional groups with higher risk. Low adherence to personal protective equipment and lack of knowledge may be factors that perpetuate the infection. It is essential to facilitate access to Occupational Health services to ensure the health surveillance of these workers. Conclusion Brucellosis is one of the most neglected zoonosis worldwide, however, it’s one of the three most common in Portugal. This case report urges the healthcare professionals to acknowledge these less known work-related diseases, in particular zoonosis, that are often underdiagnosed. The professional risk assessment and the implementation of protective measures are fundamental in reducing occupational risk, being the assessment of working conditions by a qualified safety technician required. Thus, Occupational Health teams play a leading role in preventing professional illnesses, promoting health, implementing preventive measures and reducing morbidity and mortality. ABSTRACT Introduction Burnout Syndrome is not classified as a disease or medical condition, but as an occupational phenomenon, characterized by emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and decreased sense of professional fulfillment. It is an increasingly frequent health problem among doctors, having become a factor of great wear and tear, especially after the enormous impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on these professionals. Objectives/Methodology This review aims to identify contributory factors, characteristics and consequences of Burnout syndrome in physicians, as well as assessment tools and strategies to address this problem. For this, a literature review was carried out, through a search in february 2022 in the PubMed database, including articles published between january 2007 and february 2022, in Portuguese and English, that addressed the Burnout syndrome in physicians. Mesh descriptors were used: Burnout syndrome; physicians; strategies. Forty-three articles were selected for full reading. Results Burnout syndrome is an increasingly present reality in our society, namely in the medical profession, having gained special attention, especially after the enormous impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. This phenomenon compromises both the health of these professionals and the quality of medical services provided to patients, culminating in an increase in the frequency of medical errors and health costs. Discussion/Conclusion Given the growing number of doctors suffering from Burnout, it is urgent to review this syndrome and its framework in this particular professional class, in order to find solutions that allow not only an improvement in the quality of life and work of doctors, as well as an increase in health gains. Solutions have been proposed, and the best approach to this problem seems to be the conciliation between individual methods and strategies with organizational strategies. Occupational health has a key role in the active and early identification of this problem in these professionals, in order to signal it in a timely manner and to be given adequate guidance. Keywords: Burnout syndrome; physicians; COVID-19; strategies; occupational health.

Introduction/framework/objectives There are oncological pathologies in which it is believed that some occupational exposures can modulate their appearance. The aim of this review was to summarize, in a succinct and practical way, what most relevant and recente data was published on the subject, in the international literature, in relation to Gastric Cancer (GC). Contents Gastric Cancer is the fifth most common and the second or third deadliest. Pathogenesis includes a complex interaction between genetic, microbiological, environmental and dietary factors, as well as alcohol, tobacco and socioeconomic status. The possible association with occupational issues is insufficiently investigated; references are found for wood, aromatic amines, pesticides/herbicides, coal, chromium, cadmium, lead, asbestos, solvents, nitrogen oxides, ionizing radiation/rádon and Helicobacter Pylori. The most relevant activities in this context are stone extraction, mining; agriculture, fishing; ceramics, textiles, food, rubber, leather and cosmetics production; traditional Chinese medication; laundry (traditional and dry); as well as stations with dust and/or high temperatures (metallurgy, foundry, boilermakers) and fire departments. Discussion and Conclusions There are some sectors/tasks/agents associated with Gastric Cancer with greater or lesser consensus in the international literature. All Occupational Health and Safety professionals working in these areas and all workers involved must be aware (at least briefly) of the associated conditions, in order to mitigate the risk. It would be interesting to assess their knowledge on this topic and understand, among the most relevant sectors at the national level, which concrete protection measures (collective and individual) are taken and what their respective effectiveness appears to be. KEYWORDS: gastric cancer, stomach cancer, safety at work, occupational health and occupational medicine.

Introduction The new challenges and demands of work-related tasks reveal the interest in investing in the promotion of health, well-being and productivity of employees. The occupational nurse has a set of skills to assess professional risks, in particular psychosocial risks, to raise awareness, increase safety and to operate changes that promote healthy environments. The implementation of a mental health and well-being at work program has an impact on the prevention of health problems and in the acquisition of healthy lifestyle habits, with a positive impact on the worker and in the organization. Objectives To analyze the scientific evidence on the well-being and mental health of workers in Occupational Health. Methodology This is an integrative literature review. A search was carried out in the databases Pubmed®, CINAHL®Complete, MedicLatina, MEDLINE Complete, Nursing & Allied Health: Comprehensive Edition and Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews. The sample is made by 25 articles, which met the defined inclusion criteria (2016-2022, in English, Spanish and Portuguese, in the area of health and well-being at work). Results The most reported problems in the work context were depression, anxiety, work overload and professional devaluation. Interventions based on cognitive behavioral therapy have been shown to be effective in reducing symptoms in workers. The involvement of managers in a mental health and wellness program, preferably based on digital format, contributes to healthy work environments. Conclusions Implementing simple and accessible mental health and wellness programs, including encouraging practices such as mindfulness and yoga, can create significant changes, with gains in health and for the organization, for the positive impact on the person and their productivity. Currently, it is essential to promote the articulation between the occupational nurse and the managers of the organizations, because by looking out for the worker’s interest and the improvement of the indicators in terms of mental health, they favor the bond, the performance, the human capital and the productivity. Introduction Health professionals are daily exposed to a set of demands that are often unpredictable and, consequently, have direct implications for their physical and mental health. These demands can come not only from users and family members, but also from working hours and conditions, which are difficult to control or change. According to the World Health Organization, chronic stress in the workplace leads to Burnout Syndrome. In this line of thought, one of the main concerns of Cantanhede’s Arcebispo João Crisóstomo Hospital is to seek and guarantee the general well-being of its employees and to make efforts to ensure a high level of this well-being. Objectives The main objective of this evaluation is to understand the Cantanhede’s Arcebispo João Crisóstomo Hospital health professionals’ levels of Anxiety, Depression and Burnout. Methodology Self-response instruments were used, such as the Anxiety, Depression and Stress Scale (EADS-42) and the Copenhagen Burnout Inventory (CBI) Questionnaire. These instruments were applied to professionals who voluntarily collaborated in the study. After applying them, the results were analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). Results Out of the 62 employees who participated in the questionnaire, 83.9% are female and the most represented professional category is Nursing (38.7%). It should be noted that all the results obtained were considered normative/inferior when compared with the data for the Portuguese population, apart from Burnout, related to work, since it presents moderate values for the male gender and moderate for Nursing professional category. Discussion/Conclusion Cantanhede Hospital has developed several strategies for Anxiety, Depression and Burnout Syndrome prevention and minimization, carrying out periodically an assessment of the health professional’s psychosocial risk. In this sense, the hospital has developed several initiatives, such as concerts, commemorative activities, more structured interventions such as yoga and mindfulness, clarification sessions on Burnout syndrome and even psychological and/or psychiatric intervention, whenever the need is identified. It is important to point out that, always aiming health professionals’ well-being, the continuity of this study is imperative, so it will be replicated in 2024. KEYWORDS Burnout Syndrome, Anxiety, Depression, Stress, Occupational Health, Occupational Medicine.

Introduction Gas stations present several workplace hazards of physical, chemical, ergonomic, biological and psychosocial nature. Repetitive movements, lifting heavy items and poor posture are among the ergonomic hazards, which can lead to various pathologies in the short and long term. Musculoskeletal disorders are one of the most common work-related diseases, contributing to loss of quality of life and decrease labor productivity. Clinical Case Report The authors describe the case of a 54-year-old female worker, a gas station operator, who developed pain and paresthesia in her right hand. She was observed in Occupational Health medical exam and the diagnostic hypothesis of carpal tunnel syndrome was proposed. After the orthopedic examination, the diagnosis was confirmed with surgery indication, which occurred without complications. Upon returning to work, the occupational disease was participated, being recognized afterwards because the linkage between her pathology and professional activity was confirmed. Discussion/Conclusion With this article we intend to alert to the need of notifying occupational diseases whenever there is an association between the activity and the pathology presented, as well as to emphasize the multiplicity of risk factors existing in gas stations, being essential the implementation of surveillance programs to promote workers’ health. KEYWORDS: Carpal tunnel syndrome, Musculoskeletal diseases, Filling station, Occupational health, Occupational disease.
