Object, theme, purpose of work. The article is devoted to one of major problems of typology of document: general classification of document. A research purpose is to optimize the chart of general classification of document, specify some terms and offer material for a further discussion for development of typology of document. Method or methodology of realization of work. The research methodology is based on the information and communication approach, which allows to determine the features of the classification of the document, which ensure the fixation of information in the document and its transmission in society. The study is aimed at developing a general theory of the document, so take into account primarily the features inherent in all documents, regardless of their purpose. A comparative analysis of various concepts of the general classification of the document and the proposed terms and concepts is carred out. Presenting main material. The classification of the document is considered on the following blocks of facets: Types of the document on features of the information carrier; Types of the document on features of fixing of the information (creation of the document); Types of the document on sign means of fixing and transfer of the information (on a signaling component); Types of document on the possibilities of perception of information (perceptual component); Types of the document according to its information component; Types of the document according to the circumstances of the document’s existence in the external environment. The composition of the blocks has been revised; some facets have been added, others have been removed from the general document classification table. The names and definitions of certain types of documents have been clarified. Industry of application of results. Research results will be drawn in educational and practical activity in science and industries, related to information and documentation. Conclusions. As a result of research the signs on which it is necessary to carry out the general classification of the document, names and sequence of blocks from which the general multifaceted classification consists, the characteristic of separate types of the document are specified. A promising direction for the further development of the general classification of the document should be both the solution of problems inherent in this classification, and the wider popularization of already achieved results, their implementation in various fields of document science.

The article is devoted to the representation of letters of well-known Kyiv historians I. O. Gurzhii and I. D. Boyko to the Odessa colleague S. I.-Ya. Borovоy. These letters for the period of the first half of the 1960’s are stored in the State Archives of Odessa region, in the fund of personal origin of Professor S. I.-Ya. Borovоy. The letters are a valuable source for studying the scientific biography and communication network of historians of the 1960s. Little-known archival documents were first published – correspondence with the Odessa historian of Kyiv colleagues who worked in various structures of the USSR Academy of Sciences in the 1940s and 1960s. These sources reflect their activities and connections with a colleague from Odesa. The purpose of this archeographic exploration is to update little-known archival sources, which significantly supplement the information about cooperation and personal contacts between Odessa and Kyiv historians, whose biographies and certain aspects of their scientific activity are revealed in the comments. The letters shed light on their scientific plans and creative laboratory of correspondents, views on social and cultural issues. The article examines the informative possibilities of letters from leading Kyiv historians of this period on the situation in historical science and the socio-cultural situation in the country as a whole. The epistles of these historians are of undeniable interest in the history of Soviet historiography, in particular, and the history of historical science. The provided materials reflect separate fragments of professional activity of two scientists and their personal and scientific communicative communications with some representatives of the Soviet scientific community. Epistles allow to reproduce some details of the history of Soviet historical science, certain episodes of the biography of a number of Soviet scientists of those years against the background of the events of the socio-cultural environment. The letters of scientists, despite the presence of powerful personal qualities, are characterized by high organization of the text, the ability to see the main things in events, extreme clarity in assessing the situation and expressing their opinions. The publication of the letters is accompanied by fairly complete comments on their content and introduces into scientific circulation a valuable historical source.

The article deals with the history of the institutions where meteorological and geomagnetic research originated and developed in the south of Ukraine in the second half of the 19th – early 20th centuries as well as their close ties with the history of the Department of Physical Geography, Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of the Novorossiysky University. Professors of Novorossiysky University V. I. Lapshin and F. N. Shvedov were those to whom the Department of Physical Geography owed its appearance. Teaching meteorological disciplines and scientific observations were initially conducted by the staff of the Department at the meteorological station of the University. In 1894, thanks to the efforts of prof. A. V. Klosovsky a special Meteorological observatory was constructed in the area of the Small Fountain of Odessa. In 1905, geomagnetic measurements were launched. Research works at the Magnetic Meteorological Observatory were carried out under the guidance of a number of scientists-geophysicists, M. A. Aganin, S. G. Popruzhenko, I. Ya. Tochidlovsky and P. T. Pasalsky being the most famous. In 1920, the University was closed and Observatory was transformed into an independent Odessa Geophysical Observatory. As soon as the Odessa State University was restored in 1933, the Observatory was given back to its Alma mater. However, since the postwar years it has been a part of the Odessa Hydrometeorological Center of the Black and Azov Seas.
I. Lapshin和F. 1894年,由于a. M. a. Aganin, S. G. Popruzhenko, I. Ya。

Aganin, S. G. Popruzhenko, I. Ya. Tochidlovsky and P. T. Pasalsky being the most famous. In 1920, the University was closed and Observatory was transformed into an independent Odessa Geophysical Observatory. As soon as the Odessa State University was restored in 1933, the Observatory was given back to its Alma mater. However, since the postwar years it has been a part of the Odessa Hydrometeorological Center of the Black and Azov Seas.","PeriodicalId":115102,"journal":{"name":"Library Mercury","volume":"48 19","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120836652","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

O. Muzychko
The purpose of this article is to cover one of the episodes in the initial stage of publishing Odessa almanacs or collections, the authors of which tried to raise to a new professional level the study of the history and theory of art and methods of familiarizing with public art. The object of our study is the collection “From the world of art and science”. Despite the general failure of the project as a periodical, two issues of the collection “From the world of art and science” should be considered a bright phenomenon of cultural development in Odessa during the era of modernization. In this case, the modernization was reflected in the desire of A. O. Matveev to lay the foundations of scientific art history in Odessa, which N. P. Kondakov did at the highest scientific level at the same time in this city, and combined it with the tasks of popularizing and teaching methods of art. The insufficiently defined collection’s character, either as a purely scientific, or as a popularizing and pedagogical one, probably did not attract representatives of the Scientific Humanitarian elite of Odessa, professors of Novorossiysk University – N. P. Kondakov, literary historian A. I. Kirpichnikov, byzantinist F. I. Uspensky, whose works could raise it to a higher level. The collection helped to familiarize first of all Odessa residents with the latest achievements of Art History thought in Western Europe at that time, because A. A. Matveev richly saturated the text with numerous references to the works of Western European scientists, the presentation of their thoughts. The collection is a source for learning about the development of art history pedagogy in Odessa, because some of its articles were lectures by teachers of the Odessa Drawing School. The elegantly published collection is one of the testimonies about the development of printing in Odessa, the experience of highquality publication of art works. The editor’s interdisciplinary approach and desire to integrate various but related branches of art and Science (History, Art History, Literary Studies, musicology) have not lost their relevance.
P. Kondakov,文学史家a .

V. Sokolov
Victor Sokolov’s article «Genesis and features of the functioning of illegal libraries in Ukraine: historical and socio-political factors» examined the peculiarities of formation, characteristics and peculiarities of illegal libraries, as well as socio-political factors, social conditions and main directions of these collections, mainly in Ukraine. The purpose of the proposed article is to identify and study the characteristics of illegal libraries, study their types, analysis and generalization of information about the peculiarities of the creation and operation of these collections in Ukraine, as well as characteristics of the main forms and directions of their activities. In his work, the author widely used general scientific and historical research methods: comparisons, analogies, deductions, descriptive, analytical, typological methods, as well as historical-comparative, historical-genetic and other methods of scientific research. The author proved that the most developed were the illegal libraries of political organizations and circles, which collected literature from various fields of knowledge, but most of them were publications in the social sciences (history, philosophy, sociology, etc.). Many illegal libraries, including marxist organizations and circles, were interconnected in centralized systems. In terms of the number of books, the funds of some illegal libraries of political organizations can be compared with the funds of public, church-parish, county and township libraries. However, most of them had up to 300 books. However, their activities had a certain impact on the socio-political life of society, on the formation of consciousness, cultural and educational level, mostly, the lower strata of the population. It was found that in the context of police persecution, «employees» of illegal libraries quickly adapted to new circumstances and needs of readers and often changed the forms, methods, principles of work in order to steadily pursue the main line of these collections – to disseminate certain ideas and principles of public life. Illegal libraries often operated under the guise of self-education, literary and artistic, public, women’s, family and leisure, educational and other societies and clubs. In general, they were characterized by the presence of almost all organizational and structural subsystems that had official public libraries: they had a fund of various types of documents, a catalog, a contingent of readers, facilities, library staff and documentation. In illegal libraries, for the first time, active forms and methods of book promotion were born, which were used and researched during communication with users of book collections, whose reading needs were also periodically studied. It was found that illegal libraries, including political organizations and circles, performed both educational and ideological tasks, and organizational (they became organizational centers of political struggle, in particular the premises o

The purpose of the article is to identify activities in providing online services during forced quarantine on the example of public libraries’ activities in Croatia and university libraries in Ukraine. The study aimed to identify, analyse, and characterise online services offered by libraries to establish remote customer service during the forced quarantine. The results of the study are presented in three sections. The first analyses the work of Croatian public libraries; the second, presents the experience of Ukrainian libraries; in the third, there is the case of the Scientific Library of Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts is displayed. The scientific novelty of the article is to identify practices for providing online services by libraries in Croatia and Ukraine during the COVID‑19 pandemic. The study shows that Croatian public librarians, as well as Ukrainian librarians, have demonstrated they can quickly adapt and use digital technologies on behalf of their supporters. Libraries went from developing imaginative practices to create online spaces in a matter of weeks. The result was a massive amount of produced content like workshops for children and adults; streamings of online events, organisation of virtual exhibitions, and collecting verified reference sources for research and learning. Another one of the impacts of this crisis was the accelerated development of digital library services, including online membership registration and the acquisition of e-books by public libraries. Public response was more significant than ever, including following, commenting, and sharing digital content created or shared by public libraries. The study found that the challenges of the COVID‑19 pandemic have intensified the digitisation of Ukrainian libraries and led to changes in activities. University libraries quickly adapted to remote work, offering their users a variety of remote services. The authors hope that the considered practices will contribute to disseminating better experience of libraries during quarantine in general and online services in remote maintenance in particular.
