SUMMARY his work aimed to assess the influence of removal of seminal plasma (RSP) and caffeine supplementation upon quality and fertilizing ability of Egyptian buffalo-bulls’ spermatozoa post 6 days of hypothermic preservation at 5ºC. Semen samples were collected from five buffalo-bulls pooled, then separated into two main parts. First part was centrifuged (washed) twice to remove the seminal plasma, then the sperm plugs were re-suspended in camel skim milk extender to a volume equal to that of semen pre-washing. Second part was non-centrifuged (unwashed). Both washed and unwashed semen were diluted (1:4) with camel skim milk extender containing 10% egg yolk supplemented with caffeine at different concentrations (0,5,10 and 15 mM) and gradually cooled to 5°C then preserved at this temperature for 6 days. Data elaborated that RSP enhanced (P<0.01) sperm motility, head-to-head agglutinated spermatozoa and conception rate percentages, while dead, abnormalities and acrosomal damage percentages of spermatozoa , as well as, leakage of ALT, AST, hyaluronidase and ALP enzymes to extracellular fluids of spermatozoa were reduced (P<0.01) post-RSP . The best (P<0.01) semen characteristics, enzymatic activities and fertilizing efficiency of buffalo-bulls’ spermatozoa were registered with washed diluted buffalo-bulls semen supplemented with 10 mM caffeine. Conclusively, removal of seminal plasma is a simple, effective, and easily practicable technique, which supplies a helpful alternative to semen preserved in liquid status, especially when administrated with 10mM caffeine for optimizing quality and fertilizing efficiency of buffalo spermatozoa that can be useful for artificial insemination in Egyptian buffaloes.

SUMMARY he current study was designed to investigate the effects of dietary Spirulina inclusion at different levels on growth performance, antioxidant status, carcass traits and blood hematology of broilers subjected to cyclic heat stress. A total of 150 one-day-old Ross broiler chicks were randomly divided into three experimental groups with 5 replicates with 10 birds for each. The first group was provided with a basal diet and served as a control. Meanwhile, others were fed a basal diet supplemented with Spirulina at a concentration of 1 or 2 g/kg diet, respectively. The experiment was conducted during hot climate of July with ambient temperature of 30 ± 1 ◦C, Spirulina supplementation to heat-stressed broilers was able to alleviate the negative impacts of heat stress on the final average daily gain, body weight and feed conversion ratio, with the best impacts on the chickens fed Spirulina at level of 2 gm/kg diet. Further, Spirulina supplementation significantly affected blood lipid profile by reducing serum total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and increasing high-density lipoprotein (HDL) levels. While the thyroid hormones T3 and T4 were increased by Spirulina supplementation. In addition, spirulina supplementation at 1 or 2 g improved carcass dressing percentages. It concluded that dietary Spirulina supplementation at 1 or 2 g/kg diet to broilers reared under heat stress conditions can effectively improve broiler production performance, blood constituents and physiological status.

SUMMARY his study was intended to investigate whether dietary supplementation with different levels of nano-selenium (NSE) may reverse the negative influences of lead (Pb) contamination on growth, whole body composition, Pb residue in the tissues, and blood components in Oreochromis niloticus . The fish (n=180; 16.97±0.71 g) were allocated randomly into six equal groups as follows; the first group was fed the control diet, and the second was fed on the control diet contaminated with 80 ppm Pb (LW). From the third to the sixth groups (NSE0.2, NSE0.3, NSE0.4, and NSE0.5) were fed LW diet fortified with NSE at 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, and 4.0 mg nano-selenium/kg diet, respectively for 112 days. Results showed that fish LW group displayed significantly impaired growth performance, feed intake, feed conversion, and blood biochemical (P≤0.01) compared with fish in the control group. In contrast, fish groups NSE0.2, NSE0.3, NSE0.4, and NSE0.5 had significantly increased final body weight, daily weight gain, relative growth rate, survival rate, and daily feed intake compared with fish in the LW group. Furthermore, feed conversion and Pb bioaccumulation in fish tissues as well as serum contents of creatinine, AST, and ALT were significantly decreased (P≤0.01) in enriched NSE groups compared to the LW group. However, a significant increase in the values of hemoglobin, total protein, and albumin was observed in all NSE supplemented groups. The maximum enhancement was noted in NSE0.5 in most of the tested parameters. In conclusion, supplementing O. niloticus diet with NSE at 0.2 to 0.5 mg/ kg diet ameliorated the negative impacts of Pb toxicity on growth indicators, Pb residue in the tissues, and blood components.

SUMMARY his study was conducted with the objective of evaluating the nutritional and production aspects of partially replacing berseem hay (BH) with cassava ( Manihot esculenta ) hay (CMH) “leaves and thin twigs” in Barki ewes’ diets in terms of ruminal fermentation, milk production & it’s composition, some serum characteristics and lambs’ performance. Forty late pregnant Barki ewes with an average live body weight of 53.40±4.20 Kg were assigned to four experimental (n=10 each) diets, i.e. Control [40% berseem hay “BH” plus 60% Concentrate Feed Mixture “CFM”] or [25, 50 and 75% replacement of BH by CMH] plus the CFM for a period started 4 weeks before the expected lambing date and lasted post lambing until 8 weeks of lactation. The results showed that replacement of 75% BH with CMH resulted in increasing (P<0.05) the fractional volatile fatty acids; VFA (Acetate and propionate) and total VFA concentrations compared to other diets. Ruminal NH 3 -N concentrations and total protozoa were decreased (P<0.05) with 50 and 75% CMH replacement compared with the control. Milk yield as well as milk fat, protein and lactose percentages were improved (P<0.05) by replacing 75% of BH with CMH rather than other treatments. Serum total protein, albumin, globulin and urea-N slightly decreased in CMH groups than those in the BH group, while creatinine and liver enzymes (AST & ALT) were slightly increased. Also, the level of 75% replacement of BH with CMH significantly improved lambs growth rate and weaning weight compared with other diets. Thus, using 75% CMH as a replacement of BH provides a promising source of forages for sheep with positive impacts on rumen fermentation and ewes’ productivity.

SUMMARY ates that have been discarded are rich and inexpensive source of energy and represent a promising replacement for costly concentrates in livestock feeding. This research evaluated the impact of increasing levels of discarded dates as a substitute for yellow corn grain on intake, nutrient digestibility, and performance of lactating Barki ewes. Twenty multiparous lactating ewes (38.2 kg ± 1.18) were randomly divided into four groups (five ewes per group). The feeding trial lasted for 60 days, followed by the digestion trials. Ewes were fed a diet of concentrate feed mixture and fresh berseem clover at 70:30 on dry matter basis. Discarded dates (DD) were introduced at levels of 0, 25, 50, and 75% as a replacement for corn grain (CG) in the concentrated feed mixture (CFM) of the experimental groups (R1; control, R2, R3, and R4), respectively. Replacement of CG with DD affected the chemical composition of the ration, resulting in an increase in crude fiber content and a decrease in crude protein content. However, DD had no influence on dry matter intake, nutrient digestibility coefficients, or nutritive values (TDN, DCP, and SE). Increasing the inclusion level of DD led to a significant improvement in digestible crude fiber content and a decrease in digestible N-free extract content. Actual daily milk yield and energy corrected milk were unaffected by DD. However, ewes fed on DD at 75% numerically produced less milk yield and milk constituent yields. Also, there was no significant effect of DD on ewes’ BW or lambs’ average daily gain. In conclusion, discarded dates can serve as an alternative energy resource for feeding lactating ewes up to 75% of yellow corn without any adverse effect on the animals’ performance.

The current study was performed to evaluate the protective effect of eggplant fruits against neurotoxicity induced by Aluminum chloride in rats. Thirty-six adult male albino rats with " Sprague Dawley " strain weighing (150±10 g.) were used and split into two major groups, the first group (6 rats) fed on a basal diet and kept as a negative control. The second group of 30 rats received 17 mg/kg b.w. from ALCL3 was dissolved in saline and given by gavage daily (for 28 days) and divided into five subgroups:Sup group (1): was fed on basal diet (and served as positive control). Sup group (2, 3): were fed on basal diet + (5&10%)white eggplant dried fruits. Sup group (4, 5): were fed on basal diet + (5&10%) of purple eggplant dried fruits for28 days. Body weight gain (BWG), Feed intake (F.I.), feed efficiency ratio (FER), another relative brain weight were computed at the finish of the experiment. Assessment of brain tissues wasanalyzed for antioxidant/enzymesmarkers, biochemical analysis were done to determine a phenolic compound in white and purpl

The present work was conducted to study the comparative among whey protein, amino acids and chia seedsinenhancing the performance of endurance sports in rats. The chemical composition and fatty acid content of chia seeds were analyzed. Forty-eight albino rats (Sprague Dawley Strain) (150±5g) were divided into four groups (12 of each). The first main group fed on basal diet for 28 days and served as -ve control group. Groups from 2-4 were fed on a basal diet containing 10% whey protein, amino acids and chia seeds, respectively for 28 days. All 4 groups had the same swimming protocol for 28 days. The chemical composition of chia seeds showed that the highest content was carbohydrates followed by fats and protein with values of 39.5, 30 and 21, respectively. Chia seeds fatty acid contains the highest value of linoleic acid followed by γ-linolenic acid. Feeding rats led to a significant increase in creatinine kinase, lactate dehydrogenase, serumalkaline phosphatase (ALP), ammonia, and

The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of sodium benzoate (SB) and apple juice containing SB on male rats after storage for 2 and 4 months in the sunshine. High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) was used to determine the concentration of sodium benzoate (SB) in the apple juice during each of the three storage stages (starting time, after 2 & 4 months). Ninety-nine white male rats were divided into three stages (starting time, after 2 & 4 months), each stage containing 3 groups (11 rats each): control group, aqueous SB solution, and apple juice containing SB. Biochemical factors "kidney functions," biomarker oxidation in brain tissues, such as glutathione (GSH) and malondialdehyde (MDA), as well as the brain and kidney histological examination, were evaluated / stage. Other biological factors included feed intake (FI) and the weight gain of the rats (BWG). The findings showed that at the three storage stages, the G2 rats' FI and BWG levels were considerably higher than those of the healthy rats' G1 levels. Throughout the many
