This article aims to inform in a playful way, through a game, about the loss of biodiversity, the risks of extinction of bees and how this affects today's society. Bearing this problem in mind and seeking to reach future generations, the work refers to a design project that results in an educational board game with the theme of bees, with the target audience for children between seven (7 ) to twelve (12) years. The realization of the project was based on design methods followed by guidelines that were applied during the Project Methodology discipline of the product design course at UFSC. The work shows the project's actions and the result of a game that places bees related to characters from Brazilian culture and proposes a playful teaching, which can be used inside and outside the classroom, providing a dynamic of questions and answers about knowledge. of the subject and its problems.

One of the most commonly used methods for determining total organic carbon (TOC) content is dry. In some cases, however, the method is not possible due to specific sample conditions, such as the high tendency to combustion. Samples with such characteristics when inserted in the equipment go into instant combustion, making it impossible to read properly. Thus, the Walkley Black Method, by the wet route, becomes a viable alternative. In this sense, the objective of the research was to study and compare the results and effluent generation of dry way methods, by LECO equipment and wet pathway method, Walkley Black, in 4 types of solid samples. The RESULTS of TOC by wet and dry way methods were similar for 4 of the 5 samples. In the evaluation of the effluents generated, the analysis by the LECO equipment generated a smaller amount of effluents than by the Walkley Black method, besides having a easiest treatment.

In architecture and design, new materials can be used to create more durable, sustainable, and aesthetically pleasing products that are lighter and stronger. Through biomimetics, this study analyzed 4 tropical fruit structures - orange, passion fruit, cocoa and pomegranate - to generate a new structure with damping and energy dissipation properties with the aid of scanning electron microscopy (SEM), micro-computed tomography (Micro-CT) and three-dimensional computerized reconstruction. As a result a bio-inspired structure was developed based on the cell wall arrangements found in the mesocarp (albedo) of the orange - Citrus sinensis. Through this developed structure it was possible to make computational tests and its prototyping in resin through digital fabrication. Thus, the development of bio-inspired materials for better impact absorption and damping is important because it can help improve the safety and effectiveness of a wide variety of products, from sports equipment to medical equipment, in addition to contributing to sustainability and energy efficiency, points of great interest for various areas of knowledge and contribution to the exploration of new materials.

Although 3D printing has benefits to produce orthoses, it is a technology that is not yet widespread within the Unified Health System (SUS). Considering aspects such as the high demand for the pediatric population, the delay in the delivery of orthoses in the public service, and the high cost of new technologies for this application, the aim of this study was to describe a method of making an ankle-foot orthosis using additive manufacturing. and to analyze its advantages and disadvantages, aiming at a possible implementation in clinical practice. This experimental descriptive study followed a development process that included the 3D printing of two experimental versions of an orthosis, made from a pediatric model. Preliminary results in relation to costs and production time indicated benefits, but also the need to improve the virtual modeling and printing process, which should be explored in greater depth by the authors.

One of the problems of creating processes for local communities is how to organize collective actions for artisanal production, commonly carried out to generate income in these contexts. To resolve this issue, tools are sought to improve systems. For this, this article has the question “how can Design act on the organization of local productions, to achieve Sustainability?”. Thus, it brings the identification of contributions of Strategic Design to the stimulation of communities acting in collectives to generate income, related to sustainable development. The selected method was the narrative bibliographic review, combined with databases used by graduate programs in Design. As a result, recommendations were found for collective practices, to achieve the Social Dimension of Sustainability, discussing planning, which unites the vernacular knowledge of artisanal production with the systemic organization of Design.

This article addresses the digital representation of textile materials, in the context of academic collections. The objective that guided this research was the mapping of possibilities for the digital presentation of fabrics, which attend to their properties and, in this way, meet the demands of users of virtual material libraries. Qualitative and descriptive research was applied with a literature review and a survey of virtual collections of different natures that include a digital presentation of fabrics.

With the growing environmental degradation observed in the last century, there was a sharp loss of benefits generated by ecosystems for human societies. Socio-environmental problems have been increasingly addressed through the perspective of ecosystem services. The impact of anthropic actions has direct consequences on the quality and quantity of natural resources. This fact highlights the need to conserve natural resources. The implementation of a Payment for Environmental Services (PSA) mechanism encourages the conservation of the environment and its biodiversity through financial rewards for maintaining conserved natural areas. The creation of a Priority Areas (PA) can be considered an important strategy for the preservation and valuation of natural resources. In this way, the objective of this work is to evaluate scenarios for the implementation of a Payment for Environmental Services (PES) program at UC REVIS Nascentes do Saí, located in the municipality of São Francisco do Sul/SC. The present research is in the development phase, in this way the theoretical framework and the methodological composition will be presented together with the expected results in the development of the work.

This article consists of a survey of forms of discontinuity in jewelry design, from ecodesign and design for sustainability concepts, with the objective of contributing to the search for the reduction of the environmental impacts generated by this chain, in addition to disseminating what been carried out in different contexts of the country. For this, a bibliographic review and a systemic survey were carried out in publications of a magazine and annals of a meeting on sustainability from 2018 to 2022, in addition to the annals of the last International Symposium on Goldsmithing, Jewelry and Design (II SIDGEM) in order to seek reports and research on discontinuities in jewelry design, through the keywords: jewelry design, jewelry, sustainability, jewelry and gems. From the survey, fourteen articles were selected that served as a basis for the selection of relevant cases for this article and the construction of the summary table presented at the end.
