Pax sovietica - the unique world of the Soviet state 苏式和平——苏联国家的独特世界

The article analyzes the formation of the image of the USSR as a unique phenomenon in Russian and world history in the political, cultural, and media practices of the Soviet Union and the Russian Federation. The research uses the methodology of historical memory studies, i.e., the study of historical consciousness, collective memory, and historical memory. The methodology used made it possible to analyze two stages of the formation of the «image of the USSR» - the Soviet (self) representation of the 1930s and the Russian (re)design of the 1990s - 2020s. When considering both stages, attention was paid primarily to the desire to characterize the Soviet phenomenon as a unique phenomenon of world history, the most progressive version of the existence of man, society, and the state. «Soviet civilization» in the case of the 1930s was interpreted as the optimal model for all mankind, in the case of the 1990s - 2020s as an integral component not only of modern Russian society but also of the widely understood «Russian world». The author concludes that the image formed in the 1930s is mainly used in modern Russian memory policy. There is a noticeable tendency to replace the concept of «Soviet» with the concept of «Russian», even though Russia was not the Soviet Union, just as the Soviet Union was not Russia. The next aspect is related to the dynamism of the Soviet model. The socio-economic and political system has evolved both because of the plans of the ruling elites and because of the influence of society on the elites. Global development trends and geopolitical competition also had an undoubted influence. «Soviet civilization» is very difficult to fit into the dichotomy of «socialism - capitalism» because of the vagueness and controversy of both concepts. Russian nostalgia for the USSR is a special case of post-communist (post-socialist) nostalgia idealizing the image of a bygone social order. However, the Soviet past in the Russian interpretation turned out to be a more «useful past» than it appears in historical and mythological variations of other countries.

«Orbulak battle»: myths and facts 《奥布拉克之战》:神话与事实

A huge influence on the internal and external political situation of the Kazakh Khanate was exerted by the militant Mongol-speaking tribes of Kalmaks (Oirats), who in the 17th century. founded the "last nomadic empire" (V.V. Bartold) of Central Asia - the Dzungar Khanate. The article deals with issues related to the battle of the Kazakh-Uzbek troops with the troops of the Dzungar Khanate in 1643, which is known in modern literature as the "Battle of Orbulak". As a result of the study, the author states the presence in the scientific and popular science literature of a number of myths regarding this battle. According to historical materials, this year the Kazakh ruler Zhangir, at the head of a small squad, heroically stopped the advance of the Dzungar army to the Kazakh lands. Later there was a major battle of the already united Kazakh-Uzbek army with an enemy many times greater in number. In this battle, the united army of the Turkic peoples under the leadership of the Kazakh Khan Zhangir and the Uzbek rulers won a brilliant victory. However, these events did not take place in the Orbulak area in Zhetysu, as is commonly believed in modern Kazakh historiography. They probably took place in the vicinity of Tashkent, as indicated in "Silsilat as-salatin". This explains the quick approach of the Uzbek troops to help the Kazakhs. Also, the participation in this battle of such Kazakh batyrs as Shaprashty Karasai, Argyn Argyntai, Alshyn Zhiembet, Kanly Sarbuk, Naiman Kekserek, Dulat Zhansygul, Suan Eltindy is not confirmed by historical materials. The materials for this article were published documents of the 17th century Russian-Mongol relations, the records of medieval Muslim historians, the results of special research works and others.

About visual sources on the history of the Alash movement 关于阿拉什运动历史的视觉资源

The author considers the array of photographs accumulated in recent decades as a valuable visual source for additional study of the history of the Alash movement. Visual images-messages have a good potential, since they contain denotative and connotative layers of communication. The interdisciplinary nature of such works, the increased interest of society in visualizing the history of Alash is noted. The use of photographs and other figurative evidence is considered as an addition and a means of a deeper understanding of the past only when included in the social, political, and cultural context. The necessity of using such a method of forming visible representations of the history based on fundamental theoretical approaches and methodological tools is also emphasized. The author draws attention to the use of visual artifacts, considering the information and developments of specialists in the history of technology, including photography, cinema, fine art in general. The main attention is paid to the complex of photographs collected in the illustrative publications of B. Mursalim. Based on the analysis of a complex of photographs, concentrated mainly in a few illustrative publications, approaches to classification, introduction to the historical context and interpretation of documentary photographs as a means of supplementing and illustrating in scientific research are proposed. The main results and shortcomings in the visualization of the history of Alash through photographs are highlighted.

Dombra phenomenon in the Kazakh reality 哈萨克斯坦现实中的东布拉现象

The dombra is one of the most widely used musical instruments, which originated in ancient times and is still preserved today. The dombra is widespread among the Turkic peoples from Altai to Anatolia. According to archeological excavations and stone monuments, the origin of the dombra dates back to the ancient Turkic era. The origin of the dombra was the Altai Mountains, the golden cradle of the Turkic peoples. According to the research of the well-known turkologist Sartkozha Karzhaubayevich, an ancient dombra-like musical instrument found in a cave of the ZhargalantKairkan ridge in the foothills of the Mongolian Altai Mountains has two strings and nine keys. In the ancient Turkic period, the dombra instrument was widely used, as can be seen in the images of a man holding a dombra, carved on the balbal stones, the handles of weapons such as swords and daggers. This article is devoted to the problems of philosophical analysis, which can be used to identify reliable information about the phenomenon under study. In addition, this article summarizes the characteristic features of traditional Kazakh culture, as well as the features of the existence of folk musical genres. The historical data of the dombra phenomenon in the culture and musical creativity of the postSoviet era and its influence on the development of the activities of the Kazakh people are considered. The article also describes the varieties of dombra of standard factory manufacture, defines the features of the structure and manufacture of dombra – the most common folk musical instrument in Kazakhstan, the types of dombras, the physical and mechanical properties of strings made of guts, and polymer material. The results of the study allow us to delve into many current problems that have not been fully solved: leveling cultural differences between different ethnic groups, preserving the self-identity of the nation in the era of all-consuming globalization

In addition, this article summarizes the characteristic features of traditional Kazakh culture, as well as the features of the existence of folk musical genres. The historical data of the dombra phenomenon in the culture and musical creativity of the postSoviet era and its influence on the development of the activities of the Kazakh people are considered. The article also describes the varieties of dombra of standard factory manufacture, defines the features of the structure and manufacture of dombra – the most common folk musical instrument in Kazakhstan, the types of dombras, the physical and mechanical properties of strings made of guts, and polymer material. Repressed residents of Irgiz 受压迫的伊拉克居民

The article analyzes the political activity and fate of the Alashorda figures and the figures of the Soviet government from the Irgiz region, who were subjected to Stalinist repressions in the 30s of the twentieth century. Alashorda figures from the Irgiz region entered the struggle for the interests of the nation, advocated the unification of the Kazakhs into a single state. Stalin's repressions did not spare even those who honestly served in the leading structures of the Soviet government. They were falsely accused, convicted, imprisoned and even sentenced to the heaviest sentence - execution. The instruction of President K. Tokayev on a thorough study of the issues of famine and repression made it possible to carefully study and analyze the cases of many Alashorda figures who were closed under the heading “secret”, “top secret”. During the preparation of the article, the reasons and course of the charges brought against such Alashorda figures, as Abdirazak Bashbaev, Kainazar Bekmurzin, Kuanysh Zhubanov and others, were convicted under article 58, paragraphs 2, 8, 9, 10, 11 of the criminal case of the RSFSR, as well as Zhashik Erubaev, Zholbosyn Akshulakov, who worked in the leading structures of the Soviet government. The article is compiled from archival documents that were once closed under the heading "secret".

In the modern development of independent Kazakhstan, despite the global economic crisis, the pandemic, and other difficulties, scientists pay special attention to the problem of differentiation of the pages of our history that have not yet been opened and thoroughly studied. And particular importance among them is attached to famine in Kazakhstan in the 1920s and 1930s and the history of Alash Orda. In connection with the new requirements for the social sciences and increased access to previously closed archival documents, historians make a significant contribution to the elimination of «white spots» in the history of Kazakhstan. In recent years, as a result of activities of the creative community of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the names of many social, political and cultural figures, unreasonably punished during the period of Stalin’s cult of personality, have been returned. The leaders of the national movement in the early 20th century were the leaders of Alash Odra, who defended justice, equality, and national statehood in the Kazakh steppe. The main goals of the Alash movement were the following: preservation of the Kazakh nation, ensuring its integrity, preventing its division into classes and groups; the revival of the Kazakh statehood; return of the seized lands of the Kazakh peasantry; establishment of complete equality of all the nations living in the territory of Kazakhstan; creation of a national military detachment, etc Complete and realistic reconstruction of the past history is one of the main tasks of historical sciences today, including the history of national movements of the late 19th and early 20th centuries that occupies a significant place. This relates, first of all, to the Alash movement in Kazakhstan. In this article, the authors describe West Alash, which was Alash Orda’s part, and Zhahansha Dosmukhamedov, who was one of its leaders, and his hard work on the way to realizing all these goals.
