Museumification of a mosque: Kazakhstani discourse of public spaces 清真寺的博物馆化:哈萨克斯坦对公共空间的论述

Public consciousness often replicates established notions of what public spaces mean, endowing them with familiar characteristics and features stemming from their openness or closedness to the interaction of individuals or the communication of communities. At the same time, as various processes and changes in culture and everyday life show, public spaces, violating our habitual notions of them, demand their reconsideration, as if insistently offering us new and unexpected scenarios of their own transformations and hybridizations. It is especially interesting to trace this to the examples of changes in urban life, where, in our opinion, the probability of the intersection of different practices influencing the construction of the discourse on new public spaces seems to be the highest. The article presents some reconsideration of the role and place of the mosque in Kazakhstani society, in the discourse on public space based on statistical data from 1990 to 2021, as well as field data collected between December 2021 and March 2022. The main focus is to trace the emergence of cultural memory beyond the boundaries of museums, the museification of Kazakhstani mosques, and wider public space. The authors have fixed a new tendency to the openness of religious space in Kazakhstan, when mosques perform not only the usual cult rituals and ceremonies, but also become a new public space, a place of complicity of state, religious and cultural institutions. As individual cases, we analyzed collaborations among representatives of various local communities aimed at expanding the functions of mosques, including their use for broader social communication and the translation of religious values and narratives of cultural memory

“Survival strategies” in history methodology 历史方法论中的“生存策略”

The article considers the meaning of the term “survival strategy” in historical science, prospects, and practices of its use in the study of traumatic historical experiences, including the history of the famine of 1932-1933. The term “survival strategy” is widely used in ecology, economics, history, psychophysiology, and psychotraumatology. Even though survival strategies during the Holocaust, Holodomor, and Great Famine in China are a topic that is still popular but there are works in which this term is included in the title, there is no clear definition of this term in historical science. The article considers the meaning of the term “survival strategy” in historical science and analyzes the prospects and practices of its use in the study of traumatic historical experiences, including the history of the famine of 1932-1933. The methodological basis of the study is an interdisciplinary approach. The methodology for defining the concept of “survival strategy” is based on the work of biology, genetics, ecology, trauma psychology, psychophysiology and neurobiology, and economic theory. Practices of using the terms “survival strategy” in historical science are analyzed. Thus, as we can see, the concept of “survival strategy” has taken its place in historical science and is widely used in practice, in the study of the history of traumatic experiences, such as the Holodomor of 1932-1933. An interdisciplinary approach allows the successful use of the methods of natural and social sciences in the historical humanities.

History and development trends of Egyptian cities in the 19th century 19世纪埃及城市的历史与发展趋势

Egypt has always attracted the attention of researchers as one of the oldest centers of civilization; many historical, geographical, cultural and religious studies have been devoted to its study. Taking into account the fact that the Arab Republic of Egypt occupies a leading position in the modern Arab East, more attention in historical and cultural studies is paid to the problems of the formation of Egypt, the history of its political, socioeconomic, cultural, literary and religious movements of modern and modern times. However, the processes of urbanization in Egypt today are on the periphery of sociocultural research, they are not given due attention. The beginning of the 19th century and the reforms of Muhammad Ali, as well as the construction of the Suez Canal, can be considered a conventional starting point for urbanization. The scientific article shows a direct relationship between the construction of the Suez Canal and the processes of Europeanization of the country launched by Muhammad Ali and his successors. The creation of large European cities, the impetus for the development of which was given by the construction of the Suez Canal, was subjected to a detailed analysis.

In the article, the authors made an attempt to briefly analyze the main aspects of the socio-demographic development of the South of Kazakhstan in period 1926-1939. The cardinal political and socio-economic processes that took place in Kazakhstan (resettlement of wealthy peasants and Kazakh sharua, forced collectivization, political repressions, the famine of 1930-1931, etc.) had a direct impact on the socio-demographic development of the republic. In the South, despite all the tragic events of these years, there was a slight increase in population. The proportion and number of urban residents grew, mainly due to the capital of Kazakhstan - Almaty and regional centers. But on this indicator, the South lagged behind the population of other regions of Kazakhstan. The exception was the Almaty region. The southern region of Kazakhstan traditionally remained an area with a predominance of the Kazakhs. A significant number of representatives of the Turkic-Muslim ethnic groups, mainly Kazakh-speaking, also lived here. The growth of polyethnicity continued due to the growth in the number of Russians and Ukrainians. It led to the reduction of the Kazakhs in the urban population and industrial sectors of the economy. Southern Kazakhstan remained a predominantly agrarian region; social structure of the population was formed with a high proportion of collective farmers and a small representation of workers and employees.

Archival evidence as a source of memory representation on the history of political repressions 档案证据作为政治压迫历史记忆再现的来源

Historical memory as a way of storing and broadcasting past events, being an integral part of human culture, determines many interdisciplinary research approaches. The authors focused on the history of political repressions that left the deepest imprint in the public consciousness of the Kazakh community. Despite the fact that the historiography of the proposed topic has fundamental works, serious scientific publications, new discoveries and interesting results, not all sources of the history of political repressions have become the object of scientific research. The presented author's research for the first time introduces into scientific circulation fragments of the archival evidence of S. Baibulin’s case, a native of Kazakhstan, who was arrested in the city of Kyiv in 1937, convicted by the Special Council and repressed by the NKVD of the Ukrainian SSR. The case of S. Baibulin was deposited in the archives of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). The authors presented a source study analysis of the archival evidence, demonstrated the possibilities and methods of extracting information in order to form the framework / frame of the personal memory of the victim of political repressions. The uniqueness of the scientific content of the article lies in the opportunity to get acquainted with the structure of the archival evidence, as a source of memory representation on the history of political repressions in the focus of the presented ego-documents. Such a representation of memory can be considered as the practice of public commemoration of the victim, whose personal data remained only in a single source - an archival evidence. The authors’ goal was restoring historical justice for the victim of political terror, despite the presence of rehabilitation in accordance with the Law of the Ukrainian SSR "On the rehabilitation of victims of political repression in Ukraine" dated April 17, 1991, S. Baibulin, as a repressed person, does not appear in the camp lists of Belomor-Baltic Forced Labor Camp where he served time, and his data are not included in the lists of those rehabilitated, neither in Ukraine, nor in Kazakhstan.

Issues of formation of the Kazakh-Russian border in the 1920s-1930s. 20世纪20年代至30年代哈萨克斯坦-俄罗斯边界的形成问题。

This article examines the problem of the formation of the border between Kazakh autonomy and the Russian Federation. During the critical period of the 1920s, when the issue of delimitation of territories was raised, the Kazakh lands were managed by several centers: Kirrevkom, Sibrevkom and Turkestan Republic. During this period there was an active activity of the Kazakh intelligentsia, which within the limits of their authority defended the territorial interests of the people, at that their unity in this matter was noted, despite the old ideological contradictions. It is necessary to note that the big contribution in business of inclusion of the native Kazakh lands and preservation of them as a part of new autonomy was made by many leaders of Alash movement. It was A. Baitursynov and M. Seralin who were able to defend the issue of the inclusion of Kustanai uyezd into the Kazakh ASSR. It is known that some of the Alash leaders for a positive solution of the territorial issue specifically went to Moscow for negotiations with Lenin and Stalin. As a result of their active position, most of the Kazakh territories were included in the Kazakh autonomy formed in 1920 on the terms of the Bolsheviks. In the 1930's the process of delimitation of lands between the Kazakh autonomy and the Russian Federation continued. During this period, the process of complete delimitation between the two Soviet republics went on gradually until it was formalized in the position that was fixed in 1936, when Kazakhstan received the status of a union republic. As a result of the activities of various administrative-territorial commissions, the border issue was almost completely resolved. However, some shortcomings, in the form of interspersions, remained. Thus, during the Soviet period the issue of territorial delimitation was not finally resolved.

Сrimean Tatars: deportation and fate of the people in Kazakhstan Сrimean鞑靼人:驱逐出境和哈萨克斯坦人民的命运

The article is devoted to an urgent and insufficiently studied problem. It is the deportation of the Crimean Tatars to Kazakhstan during the Great Patriotic War. The author presented a historiographic review of the literature on the forcible resettlement of certain ethnic groups to the territory of Kazakhstan, which showed the lack of today works entirely devoted to the Crimean Tatars, who, at the behest of the leadership of the totalitarian state, ended up in Kazakhstani lands. In this regard, the purpose of this article was to disclose the process of deportation and residence in the conditions of special settlements of the Crimean Tatars during the war and in the post-war period in Kazakhstan. The author introduced into scientific circulation the materials of the State Archives of the Almaty Region, the Central State Archives of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the State Archives of the Karaganda Region, and the Archives of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, published in various collections of materials and documents. The article discusses the reasons for the resettlement of the Crimean Tatar ethnos to the East, shows how the betrayal and desertion of individual people were blamed on the whole people, as the country’s leadership for the security of its southern borders, within two days they carried out an operation to send old people in freight cars, women and children to the eastern lands. Part of the Crimean Tatars ended up in Kazakhstan. The author, relying on documents and archival materials, examines the resettlement of «Crimeans» in Kazakhstani lands, their living in special settlements, the lack of rights and freedoms, the possibility for children of deported Crimean Tatars to master only technical specialties necessary for the development of the economy of the Kazakh SSR. The number of «Crimeans», their knowledge of their native language, was witnessed by the data of the 1970 and 1999 population censuses, which the author cites in the article in dynamics and in comparison. In the conclusion, the conclusion is presented that, despite all the difficulties of the fate of the whole people, the Crimean Tatars were able to adapt and actively engage, together with representatives of other ethnic groups, in the creative work for the development of Kazakhstan.

Digitalization as a new vector for the development of Kazakhstan 数字化是哈萨克斯坦发展的新载体

The definition of a new vector of socio-economic development of Kazakhstan, actualized a number of problems related to the search for new models of their own self-organization. At the same time, special interest began to be shown in the digitalization of society. For the most part, digitalization takes place without its proper preliminary scientific and theoretical justification and the development of methodological and applied knowledge. Understanding the process of digitalization of society is also taking place within the framework of philosophical discourse, which seeks to integrate approaches that have developed in various fields of scientific knowledge. Today, the development of a digital society is one of the main problems studied by modern philosophers. President K. Tokayev, in his Message to the people Kazakhstan in 2021, emphasized that the basic element of all reforms and the key tool for achieving national competitiveness is digitalization. The elimination of the digital divide marks a new stage in the development of social Kazakhstan on the principles of justice. Digitalization is primarily a socio-political and socio-humanitarian problem. Therefore, new strategic tasks have been set before the scientific community, to determine what can give the country entry into the path of its «digitalization». Thus, Kazakhstan needs a kind of digitalization model, where, along with the spread of digital technologies, the demand for social justice will grow. This indicates that in modern scientific knowledge there is an interest in various aspects of the digital society, its advantages and consequences for people's life. At the same time, the problem of digitalization of society provides a basis for its further research and building social justice. This article analyzes government programs and world rankings in the field of digitalization.
