The main objective of the current study is to explore the understandings of school leaders in Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor (PMDG) about the concept of integrated Islamic schools in the present day. Using a qualitative case study approach, 10 school leaders from PMDG were interviewed. They included six school leaders, three senior teachers, and one senior staff who have important roles at PMDG and involve directly in students’ activities. Based on a thematic analysis, the findings revealed five main themes, namely (1) combining Islamic and modern education, (2) building school and community relationships, (3) integrating theory and practice, (4) producing open-minded persons, and (5) producing future education leaders. This study concludes that Indonesian Islamic schools combine pedagogy of learning based on Islamic principles and worldwide values. In terms of leadership and capacity building, a new strategy is enforced to produce well-balanced human beings for the success of both religious and worldly affairs.

This paper highlights and discusses the various forms and procedures involved in the registration process of waqf land and suggest the Waqf New Form (WNF) as a solution to the issues that arise in the registration of waqf land in Malaysia. The study sought to answer the following two research questions: What issues arise in the method of waqf land registration in Malaysia? In what ways can such issues be resolved? Design/methodology/approach: This study employed a qualitative research approach and used content analysis to analyse data. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with lawyers, academicians, and executive officers from the Department of Land and Mines (DLM) and the State Islamic Religious Council (SIRC), and reviewed documents were collected mainly from the Department of Waqf, Zakat and Hajj Malaysia (JAWHAR). The study found the WNF to be a solution to the issues that arise in waqf land registration. It was developed to address the current waqf issues such as problematic registration methods, lengthy and complicated procedures, interference in the civil court jurisdiction, and idle waqf land. The WNF resolved the flaws of the previous waqf land registration system in Malaysia. The WNF will provide solutions to the current registration system within the National Land Code, 1965 (NLC), which will secure property rights in the future

Studies on student interest on any given course has been given attention by a number of researchers. Usually, these studies focus on factors that influence student inclination to learn a course. Student interest in a course generates various outcomes, such as encouraging student performance, and this performance is measured through student participation in lectures, course-related activities, and student motivation and drive to study a course. For core university courses such as Islamic and Asian Civilisations or TITAS, a study on student interest in the subject is highly relevant. A highly-positive interest in the course will realise one of the significant aspects of the government agenda; to unite the multi-ethnic groups in Malaysia. Therefore, this study is conducted to measure the interest of students of Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) towards TITAS. This study uses the quantitative research method, through descriptive analysis of student interest in TITAS, with questionnaires as the research instrument of choice. The findings show students have a very positive response to this course, thus proving that student enthusiasm and interest in learning the course is very high.

This study aimed to examine whether organizational size plays a role as a moderator of the relationship between halal standards practices and organizational performance. The study was also conducted to look at organizational performance differences for multinationals and medium-sized enterprises among halal food entrepreneurs in Malaysia. A total of 241 organizations through the Internal Halal Committee for the multinational (n = 69) and medium-sized enterprises (n = 172) in Malaysia were involved as respondents in the cross-sectional survey method using selected survey tools. Reliability and validity of the questionnaire were performed and cronbach's alpha values were within the generally accepted range (0.87 to 0.94). The data were analyzed using IBM Statistical Package For Social Science (SPSS) software version 21.0 The study findings show that i) organizational size acts as a moderator between the relationship between halal standard practices for halal operations and organizational performance; ii) significant differences in organizational performance for multinationals and medium-sized enterprises. Studies have found that organizational performance is influenced by a chain that interacts with each other starting from input, which then translates into process and ultimately results that are also supported by internal control of the organization. Indeed, the aspect of the practice of halal standards should be given attention by all parties in making Malaysia a halal hub that remains international. At the same time, further studies on halal food should also take into account the scope, methodology and respondents of the research involved in developing knowledge in this area.

This article is the result of an academic based research into Rātib al- ‘Aṭṭas. Ratib or Islamic chant is an essential element in an order (or school) of Sufism. However, the debate on the correlation between the aforementioned Ratib and moral development has not yet been specifically appraised, nor has it been proved by practical means. The objective of this research is to identify the correlation between the practice of Rātib al- ‘Aṭṭas by practitioners and their moral development. This research used quantitative methodology (research survey) involving practitioners of this Rātib in the state of Johor region as the respondents. These 350 respondents were from four different zones of Johor. The data were analyzed by descriptive and inferential means (correlation t-test). The findings of this research have shown that Rātib al- ‘Aṭṭas has a significant connection between moral development and establishment of several moral values of the practitioners in Johor who were truly diligent in undergoing this practise based upon an accurate practice module, sincere and pure intention and consistency. It is hoped that from this research, Rātib al- ‘Aṭṭas will be generally accepted and will receive recognition from the institutions involved.

The pervasive use of the internet and mobile phone among the age group 5 – 17 years old makes learning through these media an attractive proposition. Mobile learning presents a flexible and inventive way of learning as well as the new normal. On the other hand, learning Sirah is an essential part of every Muslim in the world in order to understand what has happened in the past regarding our beloved prophet and to learn from his behaviour and follow his sunnah. However, past studies shown that the traditional learning approach seems dull and not interesting enough. Mobile learning thus offers a new solution in learning the Sirah and similar subjects most students find of low interest and dull. The study used a quantitative approach using survey for data collection; and was divided into two phases: Sirah Game Prototype Design and Usability Evaluation phase. The ADDIE model was adapted as a model to guide instructional design process and development of the Sirah mobile applications with five phases throughout the process. An evaluation model consisted of seven components namely Game Usability, Mobility, Learning Content and Playability, Satisfaction, Efficiency was implemented. The findings suggested that students are highly interested in the use of the games for learning, able to learn Sirah subject in better ways by using the games and learning with games was found as enjoyable way to learn. This study adds more to Islamic digital content and enhances the learning approach for Sirah subject. We hope to contribute more towards Islamic digital content in the future for the benefit of our ummah and community.

This study was conducted with the aim to explore the teaching and learning practice among preschool Islamic Education teachers. Eight participants from four public and four private preschools participated along the research process including interview, observation and document analysis throughout a number of teaching and learning sessions. This qualitative research had been done in the area of Johor Baharu district. Data were analysed using NVivo software version 12. The validity of the data was obtained through triangulation of different sources of data, long duration of data collection which was six months and validated by the participants of the research. Meanwhile, the reliability of the data was obtained through trail audit and experts validation based on Cohen Kappa correlation validation. From the finding, eight elements of teachers’ preparation before the teaching and learning sessions were found, and they are; preparing the Annual Lesson Plan, timetable, Daily Lesson Plan, referring to module, teacher and students’ classroom preparation, preparing activity, teaching aids and teachers’ personality. It is a hope that this Teaching and Learning Preparation Model will be a guide for teachers and lecturers in Malaysia.

Cultured meat is one of the most promising idea in food technology and it is expected to be in the market in the following years. One of the main obstacles is the acceptance of consumers that follow their religious teaching about food consumption, including meat. This article will discuss the religious perspectives on cultured meat, especially from the Islamic Law view. This study has implemented qualitative research and applied document analysis from the collected data of various sources. The result shows that there was high probability of cultured meat acceptance in the majority of the religions if the production complies with their religious meat dietary teaching. Further research must be done to investigate the acceptance of cultured meat among religious followers.
