This article is a report of the research developed by the first author in her master degree in social and institutional psychology, having as its theme the researcher’s meetings as clown and as psychologist with the workers in the spaces of permanent education practices in mental health. Such meetings take place from the interventions of the clown Dulcinóia, embodied in the researcher through the mask of the red nose, both at the permanent education practices in mental health and in the exercise of the research. These interventions were termed laugh-clinic interventions. Thus, the relationships of clown techniques with mental health from the lived experiences and possible inventions on different ways of working and caring in this context are discussed. The experiences are narrated and developed from the methodology of the essay on the lived scenes. As a conclusion, we highlight the importante of clown´s figure presence and sign of humor as producers of possible transformations and extention of the look on mental health work.

In the current phase in which the consumer society is present, the values of hedonism, the incessant search for happiness through the acquisition of material goods, the denial of suffering, leisure, lightness and hyperindividualism are quite marked. The growing process of detraditionalization of society has made the subject at the same time free and unstable. With the weakening of the ordering capacity of institutions such as church and school, the subject tends to seek in the consumption of goods and services a source of security, in addition to the use of medications that relieve the psychic suffering generated by this helplessness. Considering that the medicalization of psychic suffering reaches large scales in this phase of contemporary society, the present work proposes to investigate the factors of the culture of hyperconsumption that function as devices that favor the process of generalized medicalization. It was based on a bibliographical research in which some actors were observed that spread the medicalizing discourse, such as advertising, hegemonic psychiatry and the pharmaceutical industry. The information presented and organized in the research results in the finding that medicalization is the product of both the interests of the pharmaceutical industry and the demand of the hyperconsumer for happiness, well-being and absence of suffering.

In this paper, the film City of God, by Fernando Meirelles, is the trigger for a reflection on barbarism in Brazilian outskirts. Captured in its narrative plot, the middle-class spectator is encouraged to move from a passive position, insofar as he is entangled in the violence that the film denounces. From a methodological point of view, this film analysis consists of a psychoanalytic research supported on the way Freud listens to a visual work in The Moses of Michelangelo. In this sense, a formal element of the City of God’s composition – a 360º panoramic view – seems to allude to the genocide of the country’s black youth. From a psychoanalytical reading, we suggest that this circuit of repetition indicates the filicide in culture: the extermination of new generations orchestrated by power structures in order to sustain positions of jouissance. In the deadly circuit in which young black Brazilian people from the periphery are swallowed, it is a matter of describing what is regularly repeated, but also the possibilities of inscribing a difference.

This conference was held on October 23, 2020, virtually, at the invitation of the Après-Coup based in New York and had the intends to show how the current Brazilian government has been using the language and aesthetics of the Third Reich in its statements to the nation and its institutional advertisements, in accord with its stance toward fascism. This development does not, however, seem to be exclusive to Brazil: the fascist state of mind has been spreading in other “democracies” across the planet.

Life and work on the refugee journey are among the latest contemporary challenges that instigate to look and to research. In order to enhance the discussion, it was considered pertinent to pay attention to the experience of looking at the image. We took the woodcut Day and Night, art by Maurits Cornelius Escher, which alludes to the migratory movement of birds, because it also provokes the look, given the characteristics that the artist imprints on it. The concepts of smooth and striated space, by Deleuze and Guattari, imbricated in a reference regarding the refugee situation, were taken as the theoretical basis for the discussion. The conversation between image and theory broadened the look beyond bureaucratic, legal and statistical issues, often associated with studies about refugees and allowed pointing out relationships of continuity and coexistence in their ways of living and working. It is understood that, by provoking the experience of the look, the image can be captured, cut, reduced, enlarged, twisted, in an effort of meaning not necessarily obvious.

In this article, we question the mother’s relationship with her child from the equivalence child = phallus. In this sense, it is the clinical consequences of female sexuality for every subject that are posed. For each subject, the relationship of woman / mother with castration is fundamental. From the Hans case, we will investigate the mother’s relationship with her child when the child is in the place of the imaginary phallus and what the consequences are. Hans provides a paradigm of the Oedipal version of the mother from the identification of the child as an imaginary phallus that responds to the mother’s desire and from the encounter with maternal castration, insofar as her mother’s position in sexuation, that is, as woman in relation to her father is not evident. It is essential to collect these effects in this case to highlight the structural challenge facing the child.

This article is the product of a research on mental health care in a Family Health Integrated Unit (USF) in the city of João Pessoa-PB. It occurred in the second half of 2015 and used cartography as a device for tracking events, affections and encounters serving as analyzers for the production of this care. Its micronarratives were produced by individual consultations, team meetings and home visits, which were debated on collective discussions and registered in a field diary. Its synthesis is given here, in a Narrative in Four Acts of a Care Occurrence produced, meant and captured by all those involved in the research. It is discussed, through it, the potential of Primary Care in Psychosocial Care Network (RAPS) and the still persistent misconceptions of the centrality of psychiatric knowledge-power in the reproduction of madhouse practices. It is concluded that immersion in an affective-existential territory expands and enriches both the production of care and health research.

In the present work, we seek to carry out an analysis of the potential and possibilities of CAPS ad as an offer of care to people who make harmful use of alcohol and other drugs and its performance with the network, from an experience report in a CAPS ad of a city located in the interior of the state of São Paulo. This is an excerpt from a master’s research, in which we used Cartography as a methodological option. As the main challenge encountered, we present the network’s mismatches, both in its protocols and in the look at the use of alcohol and other drugs. We also evidenced the potentialities and inventiveness that make possible the creation of networks/rhizomes autonomous of the dominant networks, which operate intensifying the effects of the capitalist mode of production. We understand, therefore, the CAPS ad as a provisional institutional arrangement, or as a strategy, which, in its offerings, can become a network of emancipation, as well as a rhizome, susceptible to constant changes. The power of Psychosocial Care is, therefore, in the inventive dimension present in relationships and encounters and in breaking with the fragmenting processes of care, in order to guarantee the expansion of access to services for people who suffer so much from the effects of a society like ours
