The main objective of this article is to detect the principles of the effect of Biblical images in the play “Kankinys” (“Martyr”) of Oskaras Korsunovas. The play mentioned (based on the play of modern German dramatist Marius von Mayenburg) was chosen as a suitable one to examine Biblical images: it reflects one of the main images of Christianity – the image of Martyr. The play analysis includes the principles of postmodernistic aesthetics applied by director O. Korsunovas. This is almost the first attempt to discuss the effect of Biblical images in Lithuanian contemporary theatre in order to mark future possibilities to work in this direction, especially relating to religious or Biblical images used in plays defined as a part of postmodernistic aesthetics

The article provides a survey of the results of several of my studies published in French and dedicated to the role of Philo of Alexandria’s exegetical works in the history of philosophical exegesis. My aim is to prove two statements which contradict traditional views among the historians of philosophy, namely: a) that the exegete of the Jewish Scriptures Philo of Alexandria (ca 25 BC – 45 AD) should be considered as one of those who initiated philosophical interpretation of non-philosophical texts; b) that the philosopher Plotinus (ca 205–270), who has studied in Alexandria for a long period of time, probably knew Philo of Alexandria’s exegetical works. For the possibility to consecrate myself to a thorough analysis of the exegetical development of the formula of Theaetetus in the Platonic tradition, I am grateful to the Research Council of Lithuania which financed my research project „Philo of Alexandria and Greek philosophical culture“ (MIP-064/2014).

The project of the Assisted Reproduction Law of the Republic of Lithuania is evalu- ated in the aspect of human dignity as well.

The article deals with the conception of anatheism in R. Kearney“™s hermeneutics of religion. Anatheism, which is described as a “˜secondary faith beyond faith“™, inevitably transforms the conception of eschatology. The anatheÂistic faith appears not only as a refusal of ontotheological image of God, but also as a response to the question “˜who “˜is coming“™ after the “˜God“™s death“™“™. The aim of the article is to highlight the conception of eschatology, developing the idea of returning God, Who May Be , analyzing the relation between anatheism and Deity as Persona and describing the features of anatheistic faith.

The public discourse often declares abortion as the right of choice that belongs exceptionally to the pregnant woman. However, the termination of pregnancy is related to the interests of the child, father and mother. There is a lack of studies that would show the importance of father’s role during crisis pregnancy. The research has revealed the need of help for both parents of the conceived but not yet born child. The participants of the research have acknowledged the need to legalise the responsibility and rights of the father on the state level.

The article discusses the activities of the Marians’ pastoral care in Lithuania and in exile during the early Soviet reoccupation 1944/45–1953. The activities of the monasteries were influenced by Soviet reoccupation which started in 1944. During this period, the rights of the congregation and the activities of the clergy were restricted. Active priests were sent to prison and exiled, the monasteries were abolished and the property of religious orders was confiscated. The Marians were having a tough time trying to remain faithful to their vocation, even when it was officially forbidden. Most of the Marian priests were acting as diocesan priests, some brother monks were helping with churches. The priests, who had been convicted because of political motives, were bearing testimony when suffering in prison. The ones who were in exile were serving the congregation as much as possible, even at risk.
