Pre-distortion using optical phase control by optical power monitoring is proposed to mitigate waveform degradation from SPM in dispersion-compensated fiber transmissions with BPSK-SSB modulation. The numerical evaluation confirmed that the pre-distortion can increase the fiber input power 15 dB compared to the noequalization case.

In order to solve the wavelength resource reserve collision problem in distributed wavelength assignment senario for PCE/GMPLS-based WSONs, a half-centralized wavelength assignment scheme has been proposed, which efficiently avoids the collision by adding several functions to PCE and does some extensions to the GMPLS signaling.

An incremental capacity allocation with topology augmentation problem is investigated to maximize the number of backup path provisioned services in WDM mesh networks. Numerical results show that all the services can be provisioned a backup path with little number of new links added to the existing topology.

Successful 112Gbit/s PDM-CSRZ-DQPSK transmission with coherent detection and digital electronic DSP post processing is reported over a 1730km SSMF plus 300km DCF field installed DWDM-system. A modular network approach with co-propagating 10Gbit/s WDM-channels is achieved.

We have proposed a modified all-optical SPM-based 2R-regenerator by using an imbalanced nonlinear optical loop mirror (I-NOLM). Research results show that Q-factor and extinction-ratio(ER) of the degraded signal can be improved more with the modified regenerator compared to a conventional SPM-based regenerator.
