This paper presents a single-chip implementation of an audio D/A converter for the new Universal Serial Bus (USB)'. By using an asynchronous D/A converter module, the device converts USB audio PCM streams at any sampling frequency between S kHz and SS kHz to a highquality analog output signal.

The temporal content of a video is best specified by the camera and object motion parameters in the sequence. In this paper, we propose a novel camera operation detection algorithm based on spatio-temporal images and Hough transform. This algorithm is simple and computationally efficient.

A Study Of Head Wear And Head Contamination In Consumer VCR's 家用录像机头戴与头部污染的研究

~~~ ~ Head wear and head contamination of video heads is investigated in order to improve the reliability of the headtape interface. The location of deposits and the shape of the wear scar are studied, and the wear rate and contact pressure along the head surfiice are determined using the so called "micro-indentation technique". I. Introduction Video cassette recorders based on magnetic recording technology have become very common throughout the industrial world. Recent efforts have been directed toward improving the reliability of VCR's. These efforts have shown that the reliability of VCR's is closely related to head wear and contamination. Although the importance of head wear and head clogging is well known[',21, few experimental studies have addressed the relationship between head wear and head contamination. In this paper we have investigated the location of deposits on the head surface and the development of the wear scar. We have used the "micro indentation technique" in conjunction with Atomic Force Microscopy to determine the wear rate and contact pressure over the head as a function of position and time.

htrduction Dolby Surround is a major surround sound for a movie and has expanded to home video system. But it requires five speaker arrangement for left (L) , right (R) , center (C) and two surround(S) channels. Placement of two rear speakers with connection wire causes uncomfortable situation in a living room. Wehaddeveloped3D-PHONICwhichcreatedsound image around a listener with only two fkont speakers. ThecombinationofDolbySurroundand 3D-PHONICenables2 speakerstoreproduceDolby Surround easily. This technology has beennamed "Dolby Pro Logic 3D-PHONIC" and has implemented in our TV and audio products, and PC sound card by a licensed company.

This paper describes an optical pick-up with a liquid crystal shutter that can read both DVDs and CDs. The pick-up has an objective lens with a numerical aperture (NA) of 0.6, which is designed for DVDs. By changing the beam size which enters the objective lens using a liquid crystal shutter, it can read both DVDs and CDs.

Digital Video Signal Processing For WM Camcorders WM摄像机的数字视频信号处理

We have developed a new LSI system for 8mm camcorder using digital video signal processing. The use of analog LSIs has limited the low supply voltage design and low power consumption. By replacing most of VCR signal processing to digital LSIs and applying some new techniques, we made it possible to reduce the supplied voltage and to cut the power consumption down to 5 0 % of our conventional systems. As the result, since digital video processing system has much more compatibility with video memory systems, it became easier to apply digital memory features to camcorder models in most price ranges. A Novel TV/FM Front-end For Multimedia Applications 一种用于多媒体应用的新型电视/调频前端

This paper describes a new ,front-end technology for high performance TV and FM radio signal processing in multimedia applications. I t presents the principles of the combined video signal (TV) and sound signal (W and radio) demodulation using PLL techniques. This novel front-end demonstrates that FM radio and television I reception can be successfilly merged into one module , resulting in applications with reduced size and lower cost. INTRODUCTION tion, gain control, demodulation, switching, limiting and two PLLs are implemented on a single chip in an SSOP28 or SSOP20 package. The high level of integration achieved with the new advanced circuit design has resulted in a dramatic reduction of IC pin count, peripheral components, and factory alignments. On-chip functions of the IC (Fig.1) include: A vision IF (VIF) section with PLL for true synchronous demodulation of the video modulated IF signal A sound IF (SIF) section for QSS signal processing, together with an AM demodulator for the AM sound and a PLL for demodulating the FM sound IF signals Additional stages for FM radio detection which are combined with the TV sound IF circuit. This paper describes a novel RF concept which is capable of receiving both broadcast television and FM radio signals, and is intended for applications in desktop personal computers. Compared to solutions using separate-radio and TV tuners, the module allows for a considerable reduction in total cost and board space. The cost saving is achieved by sharing key components and other circuitry needed for channel selection and demodulation of broadcast television and FM radio. Multistandard true synchronous VIF-detection ( p o d Major features of the IC include: 5 V supply voltage and low power consumption in power-down mode Small SSOP20 or SSOP28 SMD package neg. modulation) [I] Multistandard SIF demodulation (AM/FM); optional QSS Alignment-free, highly linear, low noise PLL FM demodulator, switchable between TV FM IF and radio IF Alignment-free AM detector (Secam L). Receiving FM radio with a television tuner has been demonstrated before, but always with mediocre performance. In this respect the novel TV/FM front-end can be considered a breakthrough; the quality of the FM audio delivered is more than adequate, and competes with that of * an average Mini HiFi system and or separate radio modules available on the market. A novel feature of the RF module design is a new IC2 with circuitry for both radio and television demodulation. The front-end is designed for a single 5 v Power SUPPlY using an internal D C D C COnverter to generate the tuning voltage. TV/FM FRONT-END The complexity of the circuitry and the number of components used were minimized by merging TV and FM signal processing in a single module (Fig.2).
