Hand hygiene is now creating more awareness in the people due to pandemic COVID -19. It plays important role in the prevention, control and reduction of any acquired infection. This can stop the chain of transmission of microorganism and other bacteria from hand to different parts of our body. Herbal medicines have been extensively utilized as effectual remedies for the prevention and management of multiple health conditions. The present research was carried out to formulate and evaluate the poly herbal hand sanitizer using extract and Clove oil. The formulation was evaluated for its physical parameters. It is sure that the combination of ingredients behaves as an effective hand sanitizer.

Suspected growth in the region of base of tongue, pharynx, and larynx need direct/indirect laryngoscopy for establishing Diagnosis and for Staging of the disease. The Covid 19 Pandemic has severely affected these modes of examination because they are Aerosol Generating Procedures and carry very high risk of transmission of the Virus. The Department of Head And Neck Oncosurgery at KCHRC is one of the busiest department at our Institute with an average annual footfall of around 20,000 new patients. The main objective of our study is to know the role of Image Guided Biopsy/FNAC for primary diagnosis in Head and Neck Cancers. Retrospective analysis of prospectively collected data of 35 patients was done from April to September 2020. Histopathological records along with patient’s clinical records were reviewed. Of the 35 patients, 23 patients underwent CT Guided biopsies, 11 patients had CT Guided FNA and one patient had USG guided biopsy. In 23 patients (CT Guided Biopsy), the biopsy was taken from tongue in 16 patients, Larynx in two patient, Pyriform sinus(PFS), posterior pharyngeal wall, RMT (retromolar trigone), lower GBS and Tonsil sites had one patient each. Of the 11 CT Guided FNAC patients, the site of FNA was from PFS in 7 patients, Tongue in 2 patients RMT and soft palate had one patient each. One patient had undergone USG Guided biopsy for PFS lesion. Out of 35 patients, tissue specimen taken was adequate in 33 patients and inadequate in two patients. The results were supported both histologically and clinically. The histological confirmation was found in 88.6% cases (31/35), squamous cell carcinoma was found in 74.3% cases (26/35), no malignancy in 8.5% cases(3/35), no specific lesion in 5.7% cases(2/35), no definitive diagnosis in 2.8% cases(1/35) and in inadequate in 8.5% cases(3/35). Repeat biopsy in one patient revealed no malignancy. There were no post procedure complications noted. Image guided biopsy/FNAC is a safe, reliable minimally invasive technique and can be used for primary diagnosis of Head and Neck cancers without the risk of Aerosol generation in the current Covid -19 Pandemic.

Aim: Cystic lesions in Spleen are common, but a hydatid cyst is uncommon. No doubt, the occurrence of hydatid disease has decreased due to handwashing after contact with canine species, vigorous washing & cooking of vegetables before eating, and stoppage feeding the slaughtered animal’s guts to dogs. Its incidence at unusual sites is about 8-10%. These uncommon sites are Spleen, psoas muscle, pelvic cavity, peritoneum, mesentery, brain, kidneys, bones, muscles and soft tissues. Primary extrahepatic hydatid cysts are uncommon, and primary splenic hydatid cyst (SHC) is even more so. Hydatid disease of the Spleen is known since 1790 as endorsed by Berlot and is caused by Echinococcus granulosus. Materials and Methods: Discussed below is a literature review focusing on the epidemiology, pathology, clinical presentation, investigations, treatment and follow up modalities of splenic-hydatidosis. Results: Our literature review examines dissimilar articles published on this topic and sum up the data

Pulmonary tuberculosis is the most common form of tuberculosis reported in India. Primary tuberculous myositis is a rare entity and involvement of sternocleidomastoid and anterior scalene muscle together has rarely been reported in literature. This diagnosis is very frequently missed due to its rarity and atypical clinical presentation, which leads to delay in treatment. A high suspicion index and a prompt intervention is a must for such a rare clinical presentation of extra pulmonary tuberculosis. This entity should be considered as differential diagnosis for the neck swellings. Here we present a report of three cases of primary tubercular pyomyositis of sternocleidomastoid muscle with one case involving anterior scalene as well. Keywords: Tubercular pyomyositis sternocleidomastoid extrapulmonary Tuberculosis.

Introduction: Foreign body aspiration is a major cause of accidental death in children. Laryngeal foreign bodies in some cases, especially when it is narrow cause little airway obstruction and may even present like upper airway infection. This can delay the diagnosis and even may be mis-treated as laryngitis. Case Report: A child presented to the department of ENT with throat pain and hoarseness of voice but gave a history of foreign body ingestion 1 week before. Though the child presented with laryngitis like symptoms, considering the foreign body ingestion history, diagnostic work-up was done to rule out foreign body in larynx. On X-ray, a radio-opaque foreign body was seen in the larynx above the glottis. He was taken to the operation theatre and under general anaesthesia, foreign body was seen and was piercing the posterior pharyngeal wall. It was carefully removed and pus was seen leaking from the removal site. After a course of antibiotics, the child was apparently normal then. Conclusion: A Laryngeal foreign body shows a wide variety of presentations depending on its size and shape. Hence, the children with laryngitis like symptoms should be investigated for foreign body aspiration irrespective of the symptoms if a history of foreign body ingestion was given. Keywords: Foreign body, Turban Pin, Laryngitis, Misdiagnosed.

The past century has witnessed a vast progress in the field of cancer chemotherapy. Angiogenesis is the foundation of cancer existence. Metronomic chemotherapy by definition is the administration of low dose chemotherapy at regular intervals with no long-standing drug free intervals with the aim to achieve continual blood levels of the chemotherapeutic drug, without the severe toxicity profile or the long-standing drug free breaks as seen in maximum tolerated dose (MTD). We conducted a study with the aim to see the role of metronomic chemotherapy in head and cancers at a teritiary care of south India. Materials and Method: We did a retrospective analysis of patients diagnosed with cancer of the head and neck who received metronomic chemotherapy in a tertiary cancer care centre for one year. A total of 46 patients were included in the study. Patients who were at least 18 years old and who had received metronomic chemotherapy for cancer were included in the study. The subjective response was assessed based upon the patients symptoms and clinical examination, and objective response was assessed using radiological modality wherever available. The study was conducted after having been approved by the institution review board. Data and Statistical Analysis: The Chi Square test was performed to identify the statistical significance between metronomic chemotherapy and the variables analyzed and confidence interval was calculated. Results and Observations: In our study we had 46 patients who were diagnosed with head and neck cancer on metronomic chemotherapy and met the criteria and gave informed consent for participation in the study. The mean age of patients was 57.16 years with 33males and 13females. Introduction: Oral cancer is considered s one of the commonest cancers affecting the Indian population. In our study we studied this knowledge in the healthcare system to evaluate their knowledge regarding oral cancer. In India most often the common man seeks help of a known person or a relative in the medical field than the doctor for an initial opinion, this is possibly due to the fear and the social stigma associated with the disease. Therefore the authors of this study felt the need to educate the students well early in the course of the disease about oral cancer. So decided in the present study we decided to study the knowledge attitude and practices of undergraduate students of various health care divisions regarding oral cancer at the level of interns before they finish internship. Materials and Methods: This was a prospective cross-sectional study conducted at the medical colleges of Karnataka. The second year students of the medical, paramedical and nursing colleges were the target population of the study. The study was conducted between 2014 December and 2017 December. There was a questionnaire consisting of various questions in regard to oral cancer which participants who were willing to part-take in the study had to fill before and after being taught regarding the disease. The data was analyzed. Results: Among the participants the nursing professionals had a better understanding of oral cancers than the medical and paramedical students before they taught. Conclusion: In conclusion, the lack of knowledge amongst the participants’ is indicative of the fact that only a few people have effective the disease early decrease the morbidity of oral cancer. Veins in the head and neck are known to show considerable variations. These variations could be troublesome while performing surgeries or invasive procedures. This is a report of an aberrant posterolateral tributary to the internal jugular vein. A total of six cases were noted during our routine neck dissections. Documentation of the same is recommended, as the presence of the posterolateral tributary is of great clinical significance to the head and neck surgeons, maxillofacial surgeons, general surgeons, critical care physicians and interventional radiologists in order to avoid an inadvertent injury to the vessel. Extensive literature search has failed to reveal any case series reporting this additional tributary. Discovery of this additional tributary has great practical implication. Through this manuscript we aim to add to the literature and make the clinicians and the surgeons academically well aware of the rare presence of the posterolateral tributary, which one might encounter during their routine procedures and make them more competent to perform these procedures. Keywords: Internal jugular vein, Anteromedial tributaries, Posterolateral tributary.

Sarcomas are malignant neoplasms arising from connective tissue. They represent roughly 1% of all cancer cases reported. Overall, only 4-9% of all liposarcomas occur in head and neck region. A small uncommon group of soft tissue tumours are distinguished by their unique and consistant ability to produce an overwhelming abundance of myxoid ground substance along with the proliferating cells that constitute the tumour. Grossely all these neoplasms have a variable gelatinous quality. Because of the voluminous stroma most of these tumours have some findings that overlap with one another. Nonetheless each tumour has a composite set of morphologic, immunophenotypic, ultrastructural and genotypic features exclusive to itself.26 (Wakely 1999) Hypopharyngeal localization is rarely described in the literature. Golledge et a111 (1995) reviewed the literature and reported 76 cases of liposarcoma of head and neck including 4 cases of their own. 38% of liposarcomas of head and neck involve larynx and /or pharynx.78% of these laryngeal pharyngeal cases arise in the supra glottic region and were well differentiated. Han et a113 (2014) reported a total of 37 cases of Laryngeal liposarcoma reported in English or French literature. Although more common in other areas, it is rarely found in the aero-digestive tract. Liposarcomas typically occur in middle aged to older adults. These tumors are typically misdiagnosed secondary to their indolent, asymptomatic course and similarities in appearance to other benign lesions. An understanding of these lesions will help clinicians appropriately manage their patients. Keywords: Liposarcoma, Well-differentiated liposarcoma, Hypopharynx.

Literature from western countries showed many subjects provided with hearing aids are not satisfied and do not use it regularly. There is a dearth of literature regarding satisfaction from the hearing aids among older adults hearing aid users in India. The present study aimed to investigate satisfaction among older adults hearing aid users of India. The present study includes 164 older adults hearing aid users (50-70 years) using hearing aid from 1 to 8 years. Satisfaction with Amplification in Daily Living (SADL) questionnaire was used to evaluate the satisfaction that people feel with their current hearing aids. Finding of the present study revealed satisfaction among older adults hearing aid users. The present study also revealed that older adults hearing aid users are satisfied with cost and services of the hearing aid. From the present study, it was also observed that most of the older adults are concern about cosmetics appearance of the hearing aids.
