Introduction: Post-herpetic neuralgia (PHN) is the most troublesome complication of herpes zoster (HZ). It often occurs in elderly and immunocompromised persons. PHN is a chronic neuropathic pain that can persist months to years after HZ rashes have healed. The persisting pain causes physical and psychological distress and negatively impacts the quality of life. The conventional method of treatment (CMT) is often only partially effective. In patients with inadequate response, or intolerance to current conventional treatments for pain relief, homoeopathy may be considered. Case Summary: A 64-year-old woman presented with severe neuralgic pain on the right upper chest wall and upper arm with a recent history of HZ. The acute neuralgic pain was accompanied with HZ rashes. Within 1 month of CMT, HZ healed, but neuralgic pain persisted. Homoeopathic medicines Hypericum perforatum and Sulphur were prescribed as per the totality of symptoms and individualisation, which relieved PHN (assessed by ‘Visual Analogue Scale’ [VAS]). It was accompanied with relief in associated symptoms and improvement in functional daily activities. The causal attribution of the improvement was assessed using the Modified Naranjo Criteria. This case report suggests that homoeopathic intervention may be the choice of treatment for relief of pain of PHN along with improvement in the psychological distress and quality of life.

Background: Intellectual disability (ID) is characterised by below-average intelligence and a lack of skills necessary for day-to-day living. A study was conducted by our institute at a school for students of special needs. Objectives: The objectives of the study were to demonstrate the role of homoeopathic management in ID. Methods: A purposive, non-randomised, self-controlled, preand post-intervention study of 25 participants was done. The initial 6 months were the control period, thereafter, the same participants were treated for 18 months, with homoeopathy. Treatment outcomes were assessed using domains of Diagnostic and Statistical Manual-V-V. Scores of each domain were observed at 6 months interval and analysed. Results: A statistically significant difference (P < 0.001) was observed in adaptive functioning treatment scores for conceptual domain, social domain and practical domain. It justifies the clinically significant improvement in the features of ID, reflected in all domains of adaptive functioning, cognition, hyperactivity, behavioural dysfunction and communication difficulty. Furthermore, it was seen that the dosage of pharmacological medicines was gradually tapered off in most cases. Conclusion: The study has demonstrated the utility of homoeopathic treatment as an adjuvant in the management of ID, which is reflected through significant improvement in psychosocial adaptation of the subjects and improved their quality of life. Introduction: As much as the prevention and treatment of COVID 19 has posed challenge, its post infection sequelae have not been any less challenging. There has been an emerging menace and concern for post COVID 19 illnesses. Patients with microbiological recovery from COVID‐19 show most common symptoms like fatigue, dyspnoea, cough, headache, tightness of chest, arthralgia, muscle pain with drop in the quality of life. Limited treatment options are available in the conventional set up. Cases summary: We present nine cases that were treated for post COVID 19 symptoms at Regional Research Institute (H.), Mumbai, under Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy. Out of these, seven cases were of acute Post Covid condition and two presented with Chronic Covid sequelae. All these patients were under standard conventional care/treatment but had no resolution of Post Covid symptoms. The Post Covid symptoms reported in these cases were fatigue, dyspnoea on exertion, cough, profuse perspiration, chest tightness and profuse perspiration. Bryonia Alba was the most useful remedy apart from Sulphur, Arsenicum Album, Rhus Toxicodendron and Calcarea Carbonicum. The cases have demonstrated a positive role of homoeopathic treatment in relieving the Post COVID illnesses. Acknowledgments and Source of Funding

Background: Treatment of infantile spasms (ISs) with allopathic medicines along with homeopathy is poorly understood in context with the seizure profile, psychomotor outcome, and electroencephalogram (EEG) changes. Objectives: The objective of the study was to evaluate the role of homeopathic treatment in seizure control, psychomotor development, and EEG changes in patients of IS. Materials and Methods: An open label, single-arm, clinical trial was conducted. Patients found eligible were enrolled (n = 30) and given individualized homeopathic intervention along with conventional medicine for 3 months. Follow-up assessment was done weekly based on 7 points: Sense of well-being, changes in cognitive behavior, changes in activity level, changes in seizure ictal period, changes in hypsarrhythmia, changes in speech, and gross and fine motor development. Results: About 76.66% (n = 23) of patients had improved clinically (sense of well-being, activity level, and seizure ictal period). Cognitive behavior improved in 50% (n = 9), while hypsarrhythmia improved in 16.66% (n = 5) of patients. Speech improved in 13.33% (n = 4), while gross and fine motor skills improved in 21% (n = 4) and 16% (n = 4), respectively. Calcarea carbonica (n = 4, 13.33%), Arsenic album (n = 4, 13.33%), Causticum (n = 4, 13.33%), Lycopodium (n = 3, 10%), and Nux vomica (n = 2, 6.66%) were frequently used medicines. Conclusion: Homeopathy plays a positive role in seizures in IS patients. More multicentric, randomized trials are required to make conclusions. Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy organized a scientific convention on the World Homoeopathy Day on 10th and 11thApril, 2021 to commemorate the 266th birth anniversary of Dr Christian Fredrich Samuel Hahnemann at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, India. The theme of the conference was ‘Homoeopathy – Roadmap for Integrative Medicine’. There were oral presentations and a panel discussion during the convention organized in the hybrid mode, with participants and presenters attending the convention either physically, or remotely through video link. Recommendations to develop a roadmap for Homoeopathy for integrative care were also proposed during the convention. Integration is not simply co-location of all systems but a wholesome clinical approach for the public health benefit where systems have known limitations. Specific strategic actions are needed at research, practice and education levels to promote integrative care with Homoeopathy as a key contributor. Background: Homoeopathic medicine Arsenicum album (Ars. alb) has been advised by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India based on the recommendations of Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy (CCRH) as a prophylactic/ immune booster for prevention of COVID-19 disease. This paper narrates available evidence from laboratory studies, clinical studies, toxicological studies for Ars. alb. as a prophylactic/ immune booster. Methods: Published literature regarding immuno-modulatory, toxicological and therapeutic effects of the Homoeopathic Medicine Ars. alb. was reviewed. Results: Homoeopathic literature records the use of Ars.alb. for fever, cough, shortness of breath, loss of smell, coryza, fatigue, diarrhea, nausea, etc. Ars. alb. in its crude form is toxic, acting over numerous systems of the human body. It acts over the macrophages and lymphocytes hindering normal immune response. The toxic effects of crude arsenic are neutralized by ultra-high dilution of arsenic trioxide thus stimulating an immune response, the memory of which retained by the organism helps to prevent the infection. Highly diluted Ars.alb. modulates reactive oxygen species (ROS), and cytokine secretion, decrease in interleukin-6 production in macrophages, which are central mediators of the immune system, wound healing, and body homeostasis. The molecular effects and clinical presentation of the COVID-19 and Ars. alb. are similar over the response to the immune system and clinically is similar to a great extent. Conclusion: Primary evidence suggests possibility of homoeopathic medicine Ars. alb. as a prophylactic immune booster medicine, maintaining an optimal immune response in the human body. Further preclinical and clinical studies are warranted. Acknowledgments and Source of Funding

Background Mangifera indica is widely used in the Homoeopathy systems of medicine. In Homoeopathy, Mang. ind. is one of the indicated medicines for passive haemorrhages, uterine, renal and gastric problems. Mangiferin is a xanthanoid present in leaves, stalks barks, peel and kernel of the mango plant. Mangiferin has antioxidant, antiviral, anticancer, antidiabetic, antiaging, immunomodulatory, hepatoprotective and analgesic properties. Therefore in the current study, we have tried to identify mangiferin and its antioxidant properties in Mang. ind. homoeopathic mother tincture. Objective The aim of the present study wais to identify Mangiferin, Total Phenol Content (TPC) and Total Flavonoid Content (TFC) in Mang. ind. homoeopathic mother tincture. Materials and Methods Mangiferin (A) was used as a primary reference standard and in sample In-house prepared mother tincture (B) and two different market samples (C and D) were used. An authentic sample of Mang. ind. bark was received from the Centre of Medicinal Plants Research in Homoeopathy, Emerald, Tamil Nadu, India for preparation of in house mother tincture. Results We have successfully identified Mangiferin in Mang. ind. in-house prepared mother tincture (B) and two market samples (C and D) by HPTLC. Total Phenolic Content (TPC) and Total Flavonoid Content (TFC) was determined by Ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy. Conclusion High Performance Thin Layer Chromatography study confirms the presence of Mangiferin whereas U. V spectroscopy proves to be a useful tool for in-vitro antioxidant assay study.
