Operational performance of the Malaysia-Thailand 300/600 MW HVDC interconnection 马来西亚-泰国300/600兆瓦高压直流互联的运行性能

An HVDC operational performance report is prepared annually by utilities operating an HVDC scheme, in accordance to the CIGRE WG14.04 protocol, and submitted to the CIGRE; Study Committee B4 (HVDC and AC power electronic equipment). This Study Committee collates HVDC performance reports from power utility companies worldwide, to be later published in a biennial compendium which is distributed to all the participating utilities. It was envisaged that such information could be useful in the planning, design, construction and operation of new HVDC projects. It was also envisaged that the sharing of the operational performance data could be of benefit to those concerned with the operation and maintenance of existing HVDC schemes or those planning to build new HVDC links. For the period from 1 January to 31 December 2002, a report on the operational performance of the Malaysia-Thailand 300/600 MW HVDC interconnection project was prepared jointly by the designated "system correspondences" from Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) and the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT). This paper highlights some of the more important operational parameters calculated and reported to CIGRE, including the energy utilization of the HVDC scheme, energy availability and unavailability and scheduled and forced outages.

A new technique of interfacing DC renewable energy sources with the HV distribution system 直流可再生能源与高压配电系统对接的新技术

Commonly used interfacing technique of DC renewable energy sources like photovoltaic (PV) solar generators with the high voltage (HV) distribution line employs inverter that increases cost and creates PQ (power quality) problems. A standalone PV generator also needs battery support for energy storage. The proposed scheme in this paper utilizes two zigzag transformers to interface any DC power source with a HV AC distribution line fed from a delta connected 3-phase supply. AC-DC power simultaneously flows through the line. Existing substation batteries are used as energy storage device and no inverters are required.

New concepts of costs optimization for thermal scheduling 热调度成本优化的新概念

An optimal solution to the unit commitment (UC) and economic load dispatch (ELD) problems lead to remarkable saving in the power system operational cost. UC and ELD main problems are to find the maximum profit and fast computation simulation time for the scheduling program. Lagrangian relaxation (LR) has become one of the best solution methods in solving the UC and ELD problems. The approach is claimed to be more efficient and easier than other methods in solving large-scale problems. When applying LR, the dual function needed to be updated at the higher level. Lately, bundling method (BM) is one of the best solution methods to Lagrangian dual problem. This paper presents LR technique, BM and interior point method for solving the UC and ELD problems. It will also explore the best possible way of updating Lagrangian multipliers with minimum computation time using fast programming techniques.

A feedback linearization based fuzzy-neuro controller for current source inverter-based STATCOM 基于反馈线性化的电流源逆变器模糊神经控制器

This paper presents a nonlinear control approach to the MIMO system of a current source inverter (CSI) based static synchronous compensator (STATCOM). Nonlinear control approach based on feedback linearizing scheme for FACTS devices has been proved in previous literature to have superior performance In damping the electromechanical oscillations of the power system. In this proposed control scheme, the artificial neural network (ANN) will be trained based on feedback linearization control scheme. Radial basis function neural networks (RBFNN) are used as online approximators to learn the unknown dynamics of the system. However, steady state error after the disturbances occurs in conventional feedback linearizing controller. Thus, training of RBFNN as conventional feedback linearizing controller became unrealizable. Consequently, fuzzy controller based on TSK IV control scheme has been used to filtered out the steady state error. This proposed controller is expected to approximate and replace complex mathematical equations of feedback linearization control scheme. To demonstrate the application of the proposed controller, case studies are done with a single-machine infinite-bus power system with current source inverter (CSI)-based STATCOM installed at certain bus. The efficacy of the control strategy is evaluated by digital computer simulation studies using MATLAB under various transient disturbances and a wide range of operating conditions. The approximated control signals are compared with that of targeted control signals to exhibit the elegance of the proposed control scheme.

Comparative analysis of using MW-Mile methods in transmission cost allocation for the Malaysia power system MW-Mile法在马来西亚电力系统输电成本分摊中的比较分析

One of key issues of electricity supply industry restructuring and deregulation is transmission access pricing. Transmission access pricing must be nondiscriminatory, transparent, economically efficient, and allow full recovery of costs. In the case of electricity transmission system, economic efficiency implies promoting an optimal utilisation of existing network, efficient siting of new generations and loads and promoting transmission investments. These characteristics require that the transmission circuits that pertain to each transaction must be identified and their costs properly allocated among users. Therefore, cost allocation is a major issue in transmission access pricing and has given rise to a lot of methodologies. This paper presents an overview of MW-Mile method of transmission cost allocation. Under MW-Mile method there are a number of variants in relation to how the cost of each circuit is allocated to the various users of the circuit. All these various allocations of costs under MW-Mile method categorized as absolute, reverse, dominant and extended methods are tested, compared and analysed using the Malaysian power system in order to assess their impact on the long-term transmission planning. Focus is given to observe which cost allocation method that can provide strong siting signals.

A study of the fundamental principles to power system harmonic 电力系统谐波的基本原理研究

This paper is to present the harmonic phenomenon. The Fourier series is the tool for harmonic analysis in order to interpret waveforms behavior due to nonlinear loads is carried out. Some harmonics measurements for nonlinear loads are also observed. The harmonics theory, definition of harmonic quantities, related harmonics problems in power distribution systems are explained. Also, filter applications such as passive filter in overcoming harmonic problems are discussed. This paper also investigate the recent developments for active power filter uses power electronic switching to generate harmonic currents that cancel the harmonic currents from a nonlinear load is then described.

Ride through capabilities of voltage source inverter (VSI) during short power interruptions 通过电压源逆变器(VSI)的能力,在短时间的电源中断

Voltage source inverter has been widely used inside the variable speed drive as industrial and commercial facilities. Ride-through capabilities of a VSI can be describe as the ability of the machine or drive to sustain power supply to a load during short power interruptions (SPI). SPI can occur when the power quality of the mains drop eventually close to the magnitude zero of the voltage waveform for a few cycles. As for today, power electronics technologies are very sensitive toward this SPI which sometimes can causes the system to be momentary interrupted or even permanently tripped out. In this paper, a study on how long the VSI can maintain the power flow and keeping the load running when the SPI occurs and methods to improve its capabilities will be carries out. The study comprises of two approaches, which are by experimental, and simulation. Both results from the studies will be compared and elaborated.

Comparison studies between generic simulation model and site recording of TNB-EGAT HVDC link TNB-EGAT高压直流线路通用仿真模型与现场记录的比较研究

This paper presents the comparison of the four operation and performance tests that are conducted on the generic simulation model of the TNB-EGAT interconnection system and compared the results with the site recordings data. The generic simulation model of the HVDC system has been done piece by piece in the electromagnetic transient program and the functionality of each piece of the model has also been confirmed with field data. The system response tests are power step response, current step response, DC voltage step response and also the extinction angle step response. Reasonable and satisfactory results have been obtained from the generic simulation model compared to the site recording commissioning tests.

Automatic load shedding in power system 电力系统自动减载

Automatic load shedding (ALS) is categorized as one of the protection systems applied to a power network. The aim of this work is to understand how the system works by creating a software simulation of the above-mentioned system. Prerequirement to this is the need to understand the electrical system response to the presence of disturbances and interruptions on over loads. A case study on University Teknologi Petronas Gas District Cooling (UTP GDC) cogeneration power plant has also been carried out. The plant has implemented load shedding scheme as one of their power reliability strategy. The plant has 4 stages of load shed and a single frequency set point to trigger the under-frequency relay. Simulation results were obtained using PSCAD/EMTDC to prove the effectiveness of the system.

Time domain dynamic aggregation of generating unit based on structure preserving approach 基于结构保持方法的发电机组时域动态聚合

An important problem associated with transient stability studies for electric power systems in existing digital type simulation program is the use of dynamic equivalent models to represent the dynamic behavior of the systems. Dynamic aggregation thus becomes one of the main steps in constructing a power system dynamic equivalent. This paper presents a time domain dynamic aggregation of power generating units and its control systems by using the structure preserving approach. The dynamic aggregation method has been used to derive the mathematical models of classical synchronous machine, the exciter system, the turbine-governor system, and also the power system stabilizer. The method has also been tested on the practical TNB-EGAT (Tenaga Nasional Berhad-Electric Generating Authority of Thailand) AC-HVDC power system and the simulation results demonstrated a satisfactory match between full power systems and the equivalent system.
