Characterization of the Heavy Cut Oil Extracted from the Hydropyrolytic Depolymerization of LDPE, LLDPE, MDPE and HDPE type of Polyethylene Mix LDPE、LLDPE、MDPE和HDPE型聚乙烯混合料水解解聚所得重切削油的表征

polyethylene waste has become one of the major pollutant worldwide. The conversion of the polyethylene waste into useful hydrocarbon products is being studied and investigated. The conversion of the LDPE, LLDPE, MDPE and HDPE type of polyethylene into hydrocarbon products via hydropyrolysis process is carried out. The product comprises of the gaseous and the liquid products. The liquid or the mother liquid product comprises of the naphtha, middle distillate and the heavy cut oil of varied characteristics. The heavy cut fraction is the part of the mother liquid which remains as the semi liquid fractionate. The heavy cut fraction is the part which is difficult to extract by the fractional distillation under atmospheric pressure. Thus this part remains at the bottom of the distillation column. The characteristic property of the heavy cut oil is studied and it is found to be important as it generates a structure with a higher molecular weight that is less easily volatilized.The heavy cut oil extracted from polyethylene mix has temperature grater than 370 C. Simulated distillation analysis and the mass spectra analysis were carried out to understand the thermo chemical and the structural properties of the heavy cut oil or end use.

Liquid-Liquid Extraction of Zr(IV) from Sulphuric Acid Medium using Cyanex 923 in Kerosene 用cyanex923液液萃取煤油中硫酸介质中的Zr(IV)

The extraction behaviour of Zr(IV) from sulphuric acid with cyanex 923 (a mixture of four trialkyl phosphine oxides) in kerosene has been studied through a novel method liquid – liquid extraction. The mechanism of extraction and the species extracted have been identified. Quantitative extraction of Zr(IV) with cyanex 923 in kerosene was studied by changing different parameters such as acid variation, extractant variation, effect of salting out reagent concentration, effect of temperature, metal concentration variation and diluent effect. It was observed that the percentage of extraction of Zr(IV) increased when the concentrations of cyanex 923 and metal ion concentration increased. Kerosene was found to be effective diluent for the extraction of Zr(IV) withcyanex 923.

Levels of Cadmium, Lead, Nickel and Chromium in Some Cosmetics Marketed in Kano - Nigeria 在尼日利亚卡诺市销售的一些化妆品中镉、铅、镍和铬的含量

The study is on determination of the levels of Cadmium, Lead, Nickel and Chromium in selected cosmetics marketed in Kano city. Ten different brands of facial cosmetics, labelled 1 – 10, in the form of Bronze, Eye shadow primer, Cream eyeliner, Concealer, Contour and Highlighter, Foundation, marketed in Kano were randomly purchased from Sabon gari and Rimi markets in the metropolis. Each sample label contained the manufacture’s country of origin. Samples were stored at room temperature. With the mean concentration of Cd as 90.333 μg/g and a range of 34 μg/g to 199 μg/g, the highest concentration of 199 μg/g was in sample 7 while the lowest concentration of 34 μg/g was in sample 4. The mean concentration of lead was 16.924μg/g, a range of 5.767 μg/g to 31.867 μg/g with the highest of 31.867 μg/g in sample 1 and the lowest of 5.767μg/g in sample 6. The nickel concentration varied from 25.667 to 189.733μg/g with a mean of 79.074μg/g. The highest concentration of 189.733μg/g was in sample 10 and the lowest of 25.667μg/g was in sample 2. The concentration of chromium ranged from 9.867 to 71.6μg/g. The highest concentration of 71.6μg/g was in sample 5 while the lowest concentration of 9.867μg/g was in sample 1. In comparison with the available international standards, as there are no national guidelines on metals in cosmetics in Nigeria. All the samples analyzed exceeds the maximum permissible limits with the exception of samples 6 and 10 which have only lead (Pb) concentration within the permissible limit of 10 μg/g.
