In the uplink of OFDMA systems, carrier frequency offsets (CFOs) can be compensated directly at the receiver by several methods. Particularly, Cao and Tureli applied minimum mean square error (MMSE) criterion to recover individual ideal waveform exploiting multiuser signal structure characteristic inherent from an interleaved subcarrier assignment. In this paper, the explicit signal-to-interference power ratio (SIR) and the signal-to-interference and noise power ratio (SINR) expressions of the MMSE detector are derived. The performance of the MMSE detector is compared with that of the single use detector or the post-DFT processing receiver by numerical simulations. Simulations show that the signal structure-based MMSE detector is the best.

RFID technology has advanced a lot in recent years. In order for enterprises to be competitive, an increasing number have integrated the technology into their operations. The prime challenge for RFID middleware is not to shield the bottom device-level heterogeneity but to accelerate the integration with legacy system and application in a complex scenario. In this paper, we introduce a distributed work flow based RFID middleware deployed in cluster environment. It is modeling-based and service & component oriented. The architecture focuses on the top-level application: the business integration of RFID system. It combines using work flow engine with ESB (Enterprise Service Bus) to separate the execution logic and execution entity. The mechanism makes it easier to distribute in a cluster scenario. It facilitates system's maintenance by conforming to JMX (Java Management Extension). RFID events as engine triggers, first of all, mapped to units of work flow by the RFID adapter. As a result, business integration people can concentrate business process design leaving all other things to our system. At the end part of this paper, we provide solutions for one scenario in BOLUO Logistics Company using this system and evaluate the performance.

To overcome the disadvantage which the traditional nonlinear correlation measure values do not range in [0, 1], in this paper, we propose the concept of the nonlinear correlation co-efficient (NCC), which indicate 0 and 1 denotes the weakest and the strongest relationship. We also develop a complete mathematical theory for the effects of variables distribution changes on nonlinear correlation coefficient. For multivariable data set, the nonlinear correlation information entropy (NCIE) is proposed for measuring the general relationship of a multivariable data set, which also ranges in the closed interval [0, 1]. Data sets generated from a logistic function are analyzed using the proposed NCIE. The results testify the suitableness and correctness of the proposed concepts as nonlinear correlation measure.

Circular array used in practical applications often have sensors mounted on an arbitrary acoustic baffle. In this paper a model is presented for calculating the noise cross spectral matrix of such an array, thus array gain computation and weighting vector design for supergain beamformer can incorporate the baffle scatter effects by using the exact noise cross spectral matrix. However, supergain beamformer may be extremely sensitive to slight errors in array characteristics. Therefore, a new robust supergain beamforming method in mode space which adopts the white noise constraint and low mode orders under low frequencies is also presented. Results of computer simulation indicated that this method can provide a better beampattern performance than both conventional method and robust beamforming method in sensor space simultaneously.

This paper proposes a novel reconfiguration management scheme to dramatically improve spectral efficiency and performance in cognitive radio networks. It is very suitable for efficient wireless services in dense spectrum environment. A specific distributed spectrum etiquette protocol called ASCP (Adaptive Spectrum Coordination Protocol) is designed and analyzed. With proposed opportunistic collaboration scheme, flexible PHY/MAC and cross-layer capabilities with discovery and multi-hop routing is studied. The reconfiguration architecture is identified for selecting from a number of potential configurations to fulfill the communication requirements of a multi-hop network. The experimental results show that the proposed ASCP protocol with reconfiguration can achieve high bit-rate and end-to-end QoS guarantees.

For any product recommendation systems, the most important thing is to improve the accuracy of prediction of customer preferences on products. If there is not enough information of a product, especially when a new product is introduced into the system, it is difficult to recommend the product to other customers. If we can select few customers to rate this product we may predict more accurate. We term this additional information as useful acquiring ratings. In this paper, we propose a useful acquiring rating sampling algorithm to select these potential customers. Using the Netflix Prize dataset, we experimented with our proposed method, uniform random sampling method, degree-based sampling method and the active learning sampling methods. The results showed that our method generally outperformed other three methods.

Mining closed frequent itemsets in the sliding window is one of important topics of data streams mining. In this paper, we propose an algorithm, MCFI-SW, which mines closed frequent itemsets in the sliding window of data streams efficiently. It uses a CFP-tree based on FP-tree to record the current information in stream and prunes the obsolete items and a lot of infrequent items by operating the pointer. A novel approach is presented to mine a set of closed frequent itemsets in the CFP-tree. Theoretical analysis and experimental results show that the proposed method is efficient and scalable.

In this study, we evaluated classification performance of electromyography (EMG) four time-domain features and autoregressive model features and their combination in identifying 11 classes of arm and hand movements in both able-bodied subjects and amputees. Our results showed that using three time-domain features could achieve similar classification accuracy as using four features. Using AR model coefficients as EMG features, a six-order AR model might be optimal. For the evaluation of performance of EMG pattern recognition in identifying various movements, the amputees should be used. The outcomes of this study may aid the future development of a practical multifunctional myoelectric prosthesis for arm amputees.

In this paper, we propose a new and practical reliability-based hybrid automatic repeat request (RB-HARQ) scheme for irregular low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes. Irregular LDPC codes have an unequal error protection (UEP) property. Using this property, we find that the middle degree message nodes of irregular LDPC codes are important for HARQ systems. If we pick out the low reliable message nodes of them for retransmission, we will reduce the feedback. Moreover, the system performance of this scheme is as well as that of the original RB-HARQ scheme.
