: During three-year survey in Eco-sensitive zone of Sainj Wildlife Sanctuary, seventy-one species of butterflies belonging to 53 genera and five families was recorded. The family Nymphalidae was the most dominant with the highest number of species (36 species; 50.70%), followed by Lycaenidae (15 species; 21.12%), Pieridae (12 species; 16.90%), Papilionidae (04 species: 05.64%) and Hesperiidae (04 species; 05.64%). The study of butterflies from eco-sensitive zone of Sainj Wilde life Sanctuary is the first checklist from this transition area. One species recorded as extended distribution in North-West Himalaya and one species from Himachal Pradesh. 36 species are new records from Great Himalayan landscape.

: A novel chelating terpolymer resin has been synthesized through the copolymerization of phthalic acid and thiosemicarbazide with formaldehyde in 2:1:3 mole ratio using hydrochloric acid as a reaction medium by condensation technique. The synthesized copolymer resin was characterized by UV-visible, FTIR, proton NMR spectroscopy. On basis of the spectral studies, the structure of the copolymer resin was proposed. The physico-chemical parameters have been evaluated for the copolymer resin. Non-aqueous conductometric titration was used to determine the average molecular weight and polydispersity of the PTF-II copolymer resin and the intrinsic viscosity was also determined. The semicrystalline nature of the synthesized copolymer was established by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Copolymer synthesized is proved to be selective chelating ion exchange copolymer resin for certain metals. chelating ion exchange properties of this polymer was studied for Fe 3+ , Cu 2+ , Cd 2+ , Zn 2+ , Ni 2+ and Pb 2+ ions. A batch equilibrium method was employed in the study of the selectivity of the distribution of a given metal ions between the polymer sample and a solution containing the metal ion. The study was carried out over a wide pH range and in a media of various ionic strengths.

The ultrasonic velocity, density and viscosity at 303K have been measured in the binary systems of acrylonitrile with 1, 4-Dioxane. From the experimental data, various acoustical parameters such as adiabatic compressibility (βa), intermolecular free length (Lf), specific acoustical impedance (Z), free volume (Vf), internal pressure (πi) and relaxation time (τ) were calculated. It has been observed that, weak dispersive type intermolecular interactions are confirmed in the systems investigated. Dipole inducement is found to be more predominant in the system. The results are interpreted in terms of molecular interaction between the components of the mixture.
