In this study, the modified extended tanh-function method is handling to obtain many new solitary wave solutions of two important models in nonlinear physics. The first one is the foam drainage equation which is a simple model for describing the flow of liquid through channels and nodes between the bubbles, driven by gravity and capillarity. The second is (2+1)-dimensional breaking soliton equation which describe the interaction of a Riemann wave propagating along the y-axis with along the x-axis. The obtained results are compared with that obtained in previous work.

Pakistan, like many other developing countries has adopted the integration of environmental concerns in its social and economic planning. Pakistan has developed some environmental legislation and policies at the national level for the protection and conservation of environment. This paper evaluates the current status of the environmental assessment system in Pakistan and especially in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province by using the Christopher Wood Evaluation Model. The EIA system in Pakistan has many strong features like the legal basis for assessment process, strong apprehension and willingness for screening and scoping, stakeholder’s involvement and participation, mitigation of impacts, and cost & benefits of EIA system. The limitations found in the assessment process of Pakistan includes Preparation of EIA report and its review, monitoring and auditing, strategic environmental assessment, while consideration of alternatives and decision making mechanisms are completely ignored. Besides these, the study revealed the practice of ineffective remedial measures, non-professional, inexperience and unregistered consultants involved in the environmental assessment and sporadically the politically oriented decision making process. This evaluation led to a series of suggestions regarding the improvement of EIA system in Pakistan and especially KP Province with a view to develop its quality and effectiveness.

Golden Star Resources Limited conducts Bulk Leach Extractable Gold (BLEG) and Fire Assay methods on samples from its exploration program. Additionally, for mining control and as part of the sampling and analytical protocol, residues of samples whose assay values are greater than 10 g/t are subjected to fire assay to determine the quantity of gold. However, there is gold retained in the tails or residue after leaching and to verify the suitability and efficiency of the analytical method, drill samples (RC and DD) with control samples were analysed using BLEG method based on the accelerated cyanide leach extraction and Fire Assay method on the tails. Percentages of the prepared samples were subjected to BLEG orientation study to investigate the leachability and efficiency of the BLEG method on the ore samples. Fire Assay analysis was also carried out on the selected tailing samples to find out the assay reproducibility of the samples. The analytical analyses carried out on the samples revealed that the ore samples were leachable with gold recovery levels ranging between 96% and 100% when there is total pulverization of samples to make BLEG method possible and that this procedure is also cheaper than the conventional Fire Assay.

Knowledge on clear-air effects is of paramount importance to proper link budgeting for optimum communication systems design performances. In this paper, one-year (January - December 2013) tropospheric scintillation data are extracted from the EUTELSAT-36B Ku-band satellite measurements installed at Akure (Lat: 7.17 o N, Long: 5.18 o E, Alt: 358 m) for statistical analysis and the result compared with some established troposphere scintillation models in order to obtain the best prediction model performance for this region. The result shows that even in the absence of rain, tropospheric scintillation shows a strong seasonal effect in this region up to amplitude above 0.92 dB. The scintillation intensity fits better to gamma distribution at a high scintillation level taken into consideration the local meteorological parameters. Models comparison with experimental data also shows that the Karasawa model with the lowest percentage error of about 7% was found to be best fit for predicting propagation impairment relating to be fading at a Ku band frequency in this region. The overall results will provide information on scintillation margin needed for sizing antennas and amplifiers for reliable performance and the average bit-error probability on a scintillation-degraded digital satellite link in this region.

Hysteresis, quasi-periodicity and chaoticity in a nonlinear dissipative hybrid oscillator are studied. The modified Rayleigh-Duffing oscillator is considered. We simultaneously take into account the new nonlinear cubic, pure quadratic and hybrid dissipative terms which modify the classical Rayleigh-Duffing oscillator. The influence of each of these new parameters on the dynamics of the oscillator has been seriously studied and interesting results are obtained. It is clear that each of these new dissipation terms can be used to control the dynamics of this oscillator. Some may be used to reduce or eliminate hysteresis, amplitude jump and resonance phenomena; others may accentuate them. Similarly, these new parameters can be used to impose on the systems modeled by this oscillator, a regular, quasi-periodic or even chaotic behavior according to their field of application. Thus, one of the original results obtained is the equation of the curve delimiting the zone of instabilities of the amplitudes of harmonic oscillations. This equation thus makes it possible to know the zone of amplitude permitted or of the amplitude jump for the systems and thus to control and predict the loss or gain of energy during this jump. Finally, the second stability of the oscillations of the system is studied as well as the influence of the dissipation parameters on this stability. It should be noted that the influence of some of these parameters depends on the simultaneous presence of these parameters.
