Block Error Performance of PAM or PPM SIMO FSO Links over Strong Turbulence Channels PAM或PPM SIMO FSO链路在强湍流信道上的块误差性能

The last decade optical wireless communication has attracted significant commercial and research interest mostly due to the many advantages for point-to-point connections. Nevertheless, the operation of these systems is strongly affected on weather conditions and especially by atmospheric turbulence. In order to counterbalance the negative effects of turbulence for a given propagation distance several techniques have been proposed in the literature. One of the most well-known and effective among them is the receivers’ diversity. Motivated by this, in this work, the influence of the modulation scheme in the total average block error rate of a single input multiple output (SIMO) free space optical (FSO) system over strong turbulent channels is estimated and new closed form analytical expressions are derived.

Performance assessment of correlation methods for the velocity estimation of vibro-acoustic signals propagating in fluid-filled pipelines 充液管道中声振信号速度估计相关方法的性能评价

In this paper, an assessment of an assortment of cross-correlation based methods for the estimation of the velocity of propagation of vibro-acoustic waves along fluid-filled metallic pipelines is presented. All methods are studied under the premise of utilization in a Time-Difference-Of-Arrival (TDOA) approach for the signal’s speed estimation, that leverages the expected time delay in the signal’s pickup by consecutively installed sensors, due to the travel time spent as the acoustic signal spreads along the examined pipeline. Two popular, frequency domain cross-correlators are investigated, namely the Phase Transform (PHAT) and the Hassab-Boucher (HB), along with the baseline time domain cross-correlation algorithm. An inventory of acoustic data - captured by a vibration monitoring rig during a series of leak signal data gathering experiments, conducted on an existing pipeline installation - is utilized for the investigation of the performance of each method and the illustration of the comparative results. The far-reaching target of the ongoing study, that encompasses the current work, is to derive a cross-correlation based, acoustic method for leakage localization on metallic pipelines carrying hydrocarbon products.

Design Steps towards a MCU-based Instrumentation System for Memristor-based Crossbar Arrays 基于忆阻器的交叉栅阵列的单片机仪表系统设计步骤

The memristor technology has a great potential for nonvolatile memory, circuit reconfigurability, and edge computing paradigms. Several such applications rely on the use of dense passive crossbar arrays, which are now becoming commercially available and accessible to researchers. However, experimental measurements on crossbar arrays not only require special caution but also special driving techniques, both for reading and writing of data, while addressing the current sneak-paths problem. This makes highly relevant the development of instrumentation solutions that provide a safe and proper way to experimental work with passive memristive crossbars. In this direction, we present our early design steps towards the development of an instrumentation printed circuit board (PCB) which addresses the characterization and testing of memristive crossbar chips. The PCB will be interfaced through a STM32 microcontroller system and has a PCI socket compatible with crossbar chips sold by Knowm Inc. We present the driving circuitry in detail and LTspice circuit simulation results that verify/quantify the performance of reading/writing processes.

A Multi-Scale Deep Learning Attention-based Feature Method for Rolling Elements Bearing Fault Detection in Industrial Motor Drives 基于多尺度深度学习的工业电机驱动滚动轴承故障检测方法

In the last decade, convolutional neural networks have achieved great success in the automated fault diagnosis of rotating equipment in electrical machines. However, the application of convolutional models encounters some challenges to deal with such as (i) the requirement of a vast amount of training data and (ii) the selection of the neural architecture, and particularly the sizes of the convolutional kernels that effectively extract features from the raw input signal. To alleviate the above challenges, we propose a deep learning network consisting of multiple independent densely connected convolutional streams with different sizes of kernels and of a simple attention mechanism that fuses the extracted features, producing a feature mapping with generalization and discrimination power. Simulation cases with a widely used bearing fault detection benchmark show the effectiveness of the proposed approach, especially in cases of a restricted amount of training samples.

A NB-IoT based platform for smart irrigation in vineyard 基于NB-IoT的葡萄园智能灌溉平台

A novel prototype NB-IoT-based quasi-smart water management platform for irrigation is proposed. The prototype has been deployed in a vineyard in Peta village, Greece, as part of the AREThOU5A project. An IoT framework for regularly and accurately tracking the status of soil hydration and reporting it to a centralized entity for further processing since water needs are directly related to soil moisture is proposed. The framework is based on specialized IoT hardware that includes low-cost microcontrollers with integrated sensor interfaces and telecommunication modems, open-source applications, open and standardized data transfer protocols, with low capital and operating costs. In the vineyard, an IoT end-node have been placed. Each node: i) collects soil moisture and temperature samples at a depth of 20 cm, ii) is battery-powered and has a battery life of several months on a single charge, and iii) connects to the system back-end via NB-IoT. The sensor measurements from the IoT nodes are forwarded to a cloud-based infrastructure using the Constrained Application Protocol (CoAP)/IPv6 protocol using a public mobile network. Data is maintained on a cloud backend and can be accessed in real-time via dashboards from any Internet-connected individual. In terms of hardware integration, operating solutions, networking and connectivity support, the proposed platform offers numerous novel features.

Inter-tier Coupling Analysis in Back-illuminated Monolithic 3DSI Image Sensor Pixels 背照单片3DSI图像传感器像素层间耦合分析

This study investigates the inter-tier coupling, for a Back-Side Illuminated (BSI) 4-Transistor (4T) pixel with its diode and Transfer Gate on the bottom tier and the rest of its circuitry on the top tier of a 3D Sequential Integration (3DSI) process. Variations due to coupling are compared with variations due to temperature, showing that both effects may result in a readout error of the same order of magnitude for the top-tier readout circuit. Nevertheless, we demonstrate that in a typical rolling readout, the sequence of the pixel control signals makes the coupling effect nearly negligible. As a result, we suggest that the fabrication of an inter-tier ground plane for electrical isolation is not strictly necessary for Monolithic 3D pixels when the readout top tier is directly stacked on the photodiode bottom tier.

Medical Data Encryption based on a Modified Sinusoidal 1D Chaotic Map and Its Microcontroller Implementation 基于改进正弦一维混沌映射的医疗数据加密及其单片机实现

This work considers a modification of the map proposed in Wang et al. (2020), by replacing its fixed term by a squared hyperbolic tangent term. The modified map is studied and is shown to have a plethora of chaos related phenomena, like period doubling route to chaos, crisis, antimonotonicity, and an infinite number of equilibrium points inside a bounded domain. Then, a pseudo-random bit generator is designed from the given map and it is applied to the encryption of medical data. Specifically, an electrophysiological signal is considered. The resulting design is finally implemented on a 32 bit microcontroller.

(2020), by replacing its fixed term by a squared hyperbolic tangent term. The modified map is studied and is shown to have a plethora of chaos related phenomena, like period doubling route to chaos, crisis, antimonotonicity, and an infinite number of equilibrium points inside a bounded domain. Then, a pseudo-random bit generator is designed from the given map and it is applied to the encryption of medical data. Specifically, an electrophysiological signal is considered. Role of Underlap Structure in Boosting the Performance of Band-to-Band Tunneling Carbon Nanotube FET with 5-nm Gate Length 下迭层结构对5nm栅长带-带隧道碳纳米管场效应管性能的提升作用

In this paper, the performance of gate-all-around (GAA) band-to-band tunneling (BTBT) n-i-n carbon nanotube (CNT) field-effect transistor (FET) is improved using the underlap structure. The nanodevice is endowed with 5-nm gate length. The NEGF simulation is used to computationally assess the role of underlap design in improving 5-nm-GAA BTBT n-i-n CNTFETs. The simulation study has included the subthreshold swing, off-current, on-current, and current ratio. It has been found that the underlap design can be an efficient approach to boost such ultrascaled transistors. Recording a good maximum reachable current ratio and sub-thermionic subthreshold swing using a FET with 5-nm-gate length is a substantial result for the future nanoelectronics.

An ARM-FPGA-based Co-Design for Implementing Chaotic Systems 基于arm - fpga的混沌系统协同设计

An ARM-FPGA-based interface for implementing nonlinear systems through project-based learning for undergraduate students is presented in this work. This setup has a low cost and can be utilized in courses (post-graduate and under-graduate) related to dynamical systems to show the complex behaviors such as chaos, bi-stability, hidden attractors, etc. It consists of a Python-based program in the ARM processor to control the implementation on the FPGA board. As examples, the physical implementation of Lorenz system, as well as the realization of a hidden chaotic system are given.

Wireless Sensor Network Topology Design for Building Information Modelling 面向建筑信息建模的无线传感器网络拓扑设计

Building Information Modelling (BIM) is a critical element for the ‘digitalization’ of the construction industry and can be exploited for energy-driven renovation procedures of existing residences. BIM requires IoT data streams related to indoor/outdoor ambient conditions, as well as to energy consumption parameters of the residences. The data streams require the deployment of robust Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN), able to capture and transmit real-time data to appropriate Cloud-based renovation toolkits. The technology and topology of such networks is addressed in this paper. The paper sets the lines for similar installations, required by the construction industry for BIM production, since it is the outcome of actual WSN installations, after extensive site surveys and field trials.
