Random (free) energies in spin glasses 自旋玻璃中的随机(自由)能

We study the Derrida generalized random energy model and its resulting probability law for the weights of the (free) energy levels. We show that it can be used to represent the (degenerate) free energies of the mean field spin glass thus completing the picture proposed by Mezard-Parisi and Virasoro.

We use the replica method to study the (bipartite) weighted matching problem with independent random distances between the points. We propose a replica symmetric solution which fits the numerical values of the minimal length and the distribution of lengths of the occupied links in the optimal configuration Nous utilisons la methode des repliques pour etudier le probleme du matching (bipartite) avec des distances aleatoires independantes entre les points. Generalization of the polymorphism with 2D fluid smectic phases 二维流体近晶相多态性的推广

On the basis of microscopic observations on free droplets we have located different transition lines between 2D fluid smectic phases in (x, T) binary diagrams. In particular a textural criterion has been defined to identify for the first time the S C -S A phase transition. The Brillouin shift and width for poly(vinyl alcohol) hydrogels of two different crosslink densities have been obtained as a function of gel network volume fraction using a five-pass Fabry-Perot interferometer. The results are discussed in the light of a theory for Brillouin lightscattering from gels proposed recently by J. A. Marqusee and J. M. Deutch.

We use a Migdal-Kadanoff-like renormalization group approach to study the critical behaviour of a semi-infinite simple cubic Ising ferromagnet whose (1, 0, 0) free surface contains anisotropic (in spin space) Heisenberg ferromagnetic interactions. The phase diagram presents three phases (namely the paramagnetic, the bulk ferromagnetic and the surface ferromagnetic ones) which join on a multicritical point The location of this point is calculated as a function of the anisotropy. The various universality classes of the problem are exhibited.

We investigate numerically the statistical properties of the Kuramoto-Sivashinsky-Tsuzuki model [1-3], which describes the phase fluctuations of extended systems near the transition to turbulence. This model has some similarities with hydrodynamic turbulence [4]. The time fluctuations exhibit an unexpected scaling corresponding to anomalous diffusion of the phase. A dense system of mutually avoiding polymers, obeying a quenched power-law mass distribution, n(m) ∼ m-τ (with low and high cutoffs) is considered in d dimensions. It is argued that, for a certain range of τ (d/dfg < τ - 1 < d/dfs), the chains are neither Gaussian (fractal dimension df = dfg) nor fully swollen (d f = dfs), but instead obey exactly a hyperscaling relation, df = d/(τ - 1). This result applies both to linear polymers (dfg = 2, d fs = 1/ν(d)) and to « polymeric fractals » (e.g., sol-molecules) of general connectivity. Scaling laws for dilution are also given.
