GaAs single crystals have been deformed by compression at room temperature under a confining pressure of 600 MPa. Two competitive mechanisms of plastic deformation are proposed. The first mechanism is supported by the observation of mobile perfect (or slightly dissociated) α dislocations. The second mechanism involves less mobile widely dissociated β (or screw) dislocations. 2014 Nous presentons la premiere observation d’une transition supraconductrice etroite et complete a 8.1 K dans 03B2-(BEDT-TTF)2I3 sous pression atmospherique. Ce resultat est obtenu apres l’application d’une pression hydrostatique en helium gazeux de 1.5 kbar et le relâchement de la pression a basse temperature. Nous apportons des evidences experimentales indiquant l’instabilite au-dessus de 250 K de l’etat metastable responsable a cette supraconduction homogene sous pression atmospherique.

We approach the geometric dispersion effects in a granular porous medium at large Peclet numbers by first considering the distribution of residence times around a single sphere in a uniform applied velocity field U. We get a logarithmic singularity of the dispersion in U Log U which is due to the slow flow near the stagnation points of the flow field. This feature is independent of the flow structure at large distances from the stagnation points. On deduit des mesures ellipsometriques le coefficient de rigidite d'une couche monomoleculaire de surfactant a une interface eau-huile. La monocouche contenant de l'alcool, on trouve une valeur tres faible du coefficient K (K∼k B T). On etudie ensuite les interfaces microemulsion-huile et microemission-eau recouvertes du meme film. On trouve qu'il existe une zone perturbee dans la microemulsion au contact de cette monocouche, zone dont l'epaisseur est comparable a la taille des objets dans la microemulsion. Les resultats experimentaux pour les interfaces de tres faibles tensions interfaciales suggerent que celles-ci peuvent etre decrites par le modele d'interfaces ouvertes recemment proposees

Side chain liquid crystal polymers are studied in the isotropic, nematic and smectic phases. The samples are made from a mixture of liquid crystal polymethacrylate with deuterated or protonated backbones. The samples are studied with neutron diffraction and small angle neutron scattering. The results show in particular that in the aligned smectic phase the backbone is highly anisotropic and confined within a smectic layer. The backbone labelling shows local bilayered order.

We propose a scenario for interpreting the recent experiments on melting of polarized solid 3 He. During a permanent melting, the liquid is formed with the polarization of the bulk solid. Experimental evidence for a Blue Phase of hexagonal symmetry is reported. In agreement with a theoretical prediction by Hornreich et al., this new Blue Phase has been found in a short pitch cholesteric liquid crystal of positive dielectric anisotropy submitted to a large enough electric field. Its symmetry, compatible with crystal forms and with Bragg reflections, is either P6 1 22 or P6 2 22.
