Do wind power producers have market power and exercise it? 风力发电企业是否拥有市场支配力并行使这种支配力?

In most electricity markets, wind power producers can participant in real-time markets without the need of being committed in the day-ahead. This setup could potentially lead to market power of these producers as the penetration of wind increases. In this paper, we developed a theoretical framework to measure the ability and willingness of wind power producers in manipulating the market price. Through a case study of the ERCOT control area, we demonstrate these producers do posses market power even at relatively low penetrations.

Coordinated reactive power control strategy based on the improved doubly fed induction generator 基于改进双馈感应发电机的协调无功控制策略

This paper proposes an improved model of doubly fed induction generator with DC-Chopper and series dynamic braking resistor and a coordinated reactive power control strategy based on the improved model for enhancing the capability of low voltage ride through (LVRT) and reducing the configured capacity of reactive power compensation device. The coordinated control strategy is among rotor side converter, grid side converter and static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) installed at the point of common coupling. The simulation results show that the DC voltage and the rotor current can be limited within their nominal values and the rotor side converter is not out of service during a grid fault under the coordinated control strategy. The coordinated control strategy proposed is also compared with the traditional control method based on Crowbar technology in the simulation. Finally, considering the overall system performance, the coordinated control strategy based on the improved model is recommended.

Operating reserves with flexible loading in electricity market 电力市场灵活负荷运行储备

This paper proposes an extended multiple time-step optimal power flow (OPF) model to schedule both energy and operating reserves with load flexibility. Flexible loads can shift demands among time steps under certain constraints to meet their energy consumption requirements. Therefore, peak and trough demands/prices can be more moderate. In addition, a portion of flexibility is able to provide operating reserves, especially regulation reserves, since flexible loads are able to react instantly with digital controls and high speed communications by using smart grid technologies. Flexible loads can be classified into two categories: energy storage flexible loads (ESFLs) and energy consumption flexible loads (ECFLs) by their characteristics of energy consumption. An ESFL should maintain a certain amount of energy in the storage, and an ECFL usually consume a certain amount of energy before a deadline. Market analysis demonstrates the effectiveness of both models in energy dispatch and reserve allocation. Numerical examples show that flexible loads narrow both price and voltage distributions and reduce reserve prices/costs.

Data attack on strategic buses in the power grid: Design and protection 电网战略母线的数据攻击:设计与防护

Malicious data attacks on specific buses of the power grid can lead to incorrect state estimation and in turn affect electricity prices and operational stability. A hidden data attack model is presented in this paper which involves an adversary corrupting meter readings in the grid to produce undetectable errors in a set of critical state variables. A polynomial time algorithm is given to identify the minimum set of measurements needed by the adversary to corrupt the desired state variables. To prevent such hidden attacks, a greedy protection algorithm is proposed for two cases, one where the adversary is resource limited and the other where the adversary has no resource constraint. The performances of the proposed algorithms are demonstrated through simulations on different IEEE test systems.

Towards a unified European electricity market: The contribution of data-mining to support realistic simulation studies 迈向统一的欧洲电力市场:数据挖掘对支持现实模拟研究的贡献

Worldwide electricity markets have been evolving into regional and even continental scales. The aim at an efficient use of renewable based generation in places where it exceeds the local needs is one of the main reasons. A reference case of this evolution is the European Electricity Market, where countries are connected, and several regional markets were created, each one grouping several countries, and supporting transactions of huge amounts of electrical energy. The continuous transformations electricity markets have been experiencing over the years create the need to use simulation platforms to support operators, regulators, and involved players for understanding and dealing with this complex environment. This paper focuses on demonstrating the advantage that real electricity markets data has for the creation of realistic simulation scenarios, which allow the study of the impacts and implications that electricity markets transformations will bring to the participant countries. A case study using MASCEM (Multi-Agent System for Competitive Electricity Markets) is presented, with a scenario based on real data, simulating the European Electricity Market environment, and comparing its performance when using several different market mechanisms.

Power coordinated control of wind turbines with permanent magnet synchronous generator for low voltage ride through 永磁同步风力发电机组低压穿越功率协调控制

A power coordinated control method is proposed in this paper. It is used to improve the low voltage ride through (LVRT) capability of wind turbines with permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG). Firstly, the factors that influence the LVRT of PMSG are analyzed in details. A coordinated application strategy of these factors is presented. Secondly, an improved power coordinated control method is proposed based on the theory analysis. The active power on the grid side is controlled to track the maximum wind energy. The active power output of the generator maintains the DC link voltage constant. Current limitation links are added to the converters. And the mode of pitch angle control is also modified. The LVRT burden of PMSG can be reduced by the pitch system in the whole wind speed range. Thirdly, the practicability and effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by the simulation in DIgSILENT/Power Factory.

Control strategy of system coordination in Nanao multi-terminal VSC-HVDC project for wind integration 南澳多终端vcs - hvdc风电一体化项目系统协调控制策略

The ±160 kV three-terminal voltage source converter (VSC) based HVDC system under construction in Island of Nanao, China, is expected to be the first multi-terminal VSC-HVDC industrial project. The system has been designed to extract wind energy from the wind intensive areas on the island to the bulk power system at the mainland of China. At present, the system is being tested online, and planned to be committed by the end of 2013. Due to the outstanding controllability of VSC-HVDC system, the control strategy becomes critical for coordination between each converter station, as well as the interconnected DC and AC system. This paper presents the detailed control schemes for each individual active and reactive power parameter according to different operation modes, including paralleled operation of AC and DC circuits, DC operation only, and working as a reactive power compensator. In this system, the power flow management ensures efficient power transmission in normal operation, and fast response in emergency condition, which improves the ability of fault ride-through. Also, the converter station is capable to provide a stable AC system for connecting wind farms.

Predictive dynamic security assessment through advanced computing 通过先进的计算预测动态安全评估

Traditional dynamic security assessment is limited by several factors and thus falls short in providing real-time information to be predictive for power system operation. These factors include the steady-state assumption of current operating points, static transfer limits, and low computational speed. This addresses these factors and frames predictive dynamic security assessment. The primary objective of predictive dynamic security assessment is to enhance the functionality and computational process of dynamic security assessment through the use of high-speed phasor measurements and the application of advanced computing technologies for faster-than-real-time simulation. This paper presents algorithms, computing platforms, and simulation frameworks that constitute the predictive dynamic security assessment capability. Examples of phasor application and fast computation for dynamic security assessment are included to demonstrate the feasibility and speed enhancement for real-time applications.

Analysis of conservation voltage reduction effects based on multistage SVR and stochastic process 基于多级SVR和随机过程的节能降压效果分析

Summary form only given. This paper aims to develop a novel method to evaluate Conservation Voltage Reduction (CVR) effects. A multistage Support Vector Regression (MSVR)-based model is proposed to estimate the load without voltage reduction during the CVR period. The first stage is to select a set of load profiles that are close to the profile under estimation by a Euclidian distance-based index; the second stage is to train the SVR prediction model using the pre-selected profiles; the third stage is to re-select the estimated profiles to minimize the impacts of estimation errors on CVR factor calculation. Compared with previous efforts to analyze the CVR outcome, this MSVR-based technique does not depend on selections of control groups or assumptions of any linear relationship between the load and its impact factors. In order to deal with the variability of CVR performances, a stochastic framework is proposed to assist utilities in selecting target feeders. The proposed method has been applied to evaluate CVR effects of practical voltage reduction tests and shown to be accurate and effective.

Swarm intelligence based multi-phase OPF for peak power loss reduction in a smart grid 基于群智能的多相OPF算法在智能电网中的峰值损耗降低

Recently there has been increasing interest in improving smart grids efficiency using computational intelligence. A key challenge in future smart grid is designing Optimal Power Flow tool to solve important planning problems including optimal DG capacities. Although, a number of OPF tools exists for balanced networks there is a lack of research for unbalanced multi-phase distribution networks. In this paper, a new OPF technique has been proposed for the DG capacity planning of a smart grid. During the formulation of the proposed algorithm, multi-phase power distribution system is considered which has unbalanced loadings, voltage control and reactive power compensation devices. The proposed algorithm is built upon a co-simulation framework that optimizes the objective by adapting a constriction factor Particle Swarm optimization. The proposed multi-phase OPF technique is validated using IEEE 8500-node benchmark distribution system.
