In this paper, we propose signal-modeling of the block-coded group pulse position modulation (BC-GPPM) for the wireless body area network (WBAN). The BC-GPPM is one of modulation methods for the WBAN application taking the technical requirements such as data-rate scalability, low complexity and low-power. This paper describes concept of WBAN non-coherent standard related to BC-GPPM and proposes a BC-GPPM signal-modeling derived from the conventional pulse position modulation (PPM).

Ultra-wideband (UWB) technology has received great attention in recent short-range communication systems and been considered one of the potential candidates for upcoming IEEE 802.15.6 body area network (BAN) standard. High penetration capability and high precision ranging with a wide bandwidth of up to 7.5GHz (from 3.1GHz to 10.6GHz) make it easy to image the organs of human body for biomedical applications. In addition, low electromagnetic radiation less than −41.3dBm/MHz is safe for human tissue exposure and makes it suitable for hospital and home applications. This paper reviews the state-of-the-art UWB systems and addresses IC design challenges for WBAN and biomedical applications.

Adaptive clustering is one of the common methods in wireless sensor networks to prolong the network lifetime. Single-hop dynamic clustering proposed in LEACH protocol is simple and energy-efficient. By random clustering, it causes uneven energy consumption and terrible energy consumption when sink node is far away from the network.

Interference limits the throughput of a mobile ad hoc network (MANET). Multi-antennas can be employed at a node for interference cancellation besides attaining array gain. Spatial interference cancellation requires each node to estimate the interference channels, which is potentially inaccurate due to node mobility. As a result, maximizing the network capacity requires optimally allocating spatial degrees of freedom (DoF) to cancel interference and enhance link reliability based on the node mobility. This paper addresses this issue for a MANET with Poisson distributed transmitters and employing zero-forcing beam for spatial interference cancellation. Specifically, the residual interference power for each node from partially canceled interferers is characterized as a function of Doppler frequency and the number of DoF for interference cancellation is shown to decrease with the Doppler frequency. The adaption of spatial interference cancellation to mobility is observed to significantly improve the network performance in terms of both outage probability and capacity compared with the case without adaptation.

This paper presents a synchronization method for the 18000-3 PJM mode, along with the hardware structure to implement the proposed method. The proposed system detects an incipient peak using a ITS(Initial Time Selector) and a correlator. Once a peak is detected, it starts to demodulate, checking MFM state, until it detects the occurrence of the violation bit, which can acknowledge the payload beginning point. The simulation results verify that the proposed system can dramatically reduce hardware complexity while exhibiting performances comparable to the one recently presented.

As the interests of broadcasting services in mobile networks are increased, the research of convergence services of broadcasting and communication has become popular. To support broadcasting services in cellular network smoothly, WiBro support the multicast and broadcast service (MBS). MBS is transmission method that base stations belong to same MBS zone transmit the data to all users who request broadcasting service. Although MBS could enhance the quality of service, there are some problems in MBS. In the edge of MBS zone, the SINR of mobile stations (MS) is very low yet. In this paper we suggest algorithm that mobile station with having above certain level of SINR retransmit the received signal to the degraded MSs immediately after receiving the signal. MS also retransmit interference parts of signal. The results show that the algorithm should enhance the quality of receiving environments.

The content in terms of ACL function which adjusts the brightness automatically as a function related to an OLED driver IC design of QVGA(320×240) is presented in this paper. ACL function adjusts luminance automatically as the brightness of adjacent circumstance and unnecessary power consumption of display panel can be reduced. Verification method is that original image is applied to ACL function and compare original image and result image.

In this paper, multi-envelope 3-dimensional (3-D) constellations for polarization shift keying modulation (POLSK) are introduced. Signal points of the constellations are on the surfaces of two concentric spheres. In the receiver, two kinds of demodulation schemes are exploited. One is the conventional coherent detection (CD) of the Stokes parameters. The other is based on the maximum-likelihood (ML) algorithm. As a result of simulation, the 16-ary cube-in-cube (CIC) constellation with the ML receiver shows the best error performance in the additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) environment.

Mobile WiMAX Femtocell Access Point can acquire synchronization from the clock master with IEEE 1588 algorithm to deliver timing information over Ethernet. Thus, to keep a high degree of accuracy and precision, reciprocity of up/down links needs to be guaranteed. However, up/down links speed is not same in every case and it thus degrades performance. Thus, we analyze the impact of synchronization deterioration.
