Children with dental anxiety can refuse care, resulting in dental emergencies. Pharmacological and non-pharmacological behavioral guidance strategies reduce restlessness, establish a healthy dental behavior and safely, and ensure that babies, toddlers, teenagers, and individuals with special health-care needs receive highquality oral health treatment. For pediatric dental patients, guidance on protective stabilization and pharmacological behavior control is given in more depth in additional recommendations for the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry clinical practice. Actions should never be retaliation for wrongdoing, assertion of authority, or use of any tactic that harms, shames, or belittles a patient.

Esthetic dentistry is one of the most dynamic and challenging branches. With increasing esthetic demands, the use of composite has become widespread. From the beginning of indirect composite resin usage, several advances in composites have been developed in dentistry. Later, with improved modifications in their composition, structure, and polymerization technique had led to the innovation of the second-generation indirect resin composites (IRCs). IRCs provide enhanced mechanical property, better esthetic performance, decreased polymerization shrinkage, and repairability. Owing to these features, IRCs have been used broadly in various clinical applications. Hence, the aim of this article is to review and explore the properties and advances in IRCs.

Human tooth eruption is a distinctive developmental process in the course of one’s life and growth. The underlying cause, or mode, of eruption has never been fully understood, and there is a dearth of scientific literature in this area. Therefore, we propose a new theory on the eruption mechanism. According to our theory, it’s the need that is initiating tooth eruption.

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is the disease caused by novel coronavirus which belongs to family Coronavirinae. COVID-19 is a highly contagious disease which is new in origin and till date no proper treatment protocol has been introduced. Recently, the WHO has confirmed it to be an airborne disease. There are many researches going on in many countries to develop a proper treatment protocol and vaccine for the ongoing pandemic COVID-19 which is spreading havoc in almost all the countries in the world. Corona virus can spread through air, hence the dentist population is at higher risk as most of the dental treatment generate aerosols. This article includes coronavirus and its pathogenesis, COVID-19 and dentists, and recent updates about COVID19.

Stem cells - The powerhouse of tissue engineering 干细胞——组织工程的发动机
Pub Date : 2021-01-01 DOI: 10.15713/ins.jcri.333

Periodontal tissue rebuilding is one of the major processes, involving the regeneration of the periodontal ligament, cementum, and bone, the periodontium’s three principal structures. This approach to bone and periodontal regeneration combines three key elements to enhance regeneration: Cells, Scaffolds, and Signaling molecules. When applying tissue engineering strategies the source of the cell is a crucial factor to consider to restore lost functions and tissues. Through a process of asymptomatic mitosis, differentiation and self-renewal are both possible to result from stem cells. That lead to two daughter cells and are capable of differentiation into more mature cells. In this review, the classification of cells, that is, totipotent, pluripotent, multipotent, adult stem cells and embryonic stem cells, and the various dental stem cells that have the capacity for selfrenewal and multilineage differentiation potential has been discussed. The different cell storage methodologies to maintain the viability of these cells such as cryopreservation, magnetic freezing, and tooth stem cell banking as well as the recent advances in stem cell engineering such as induced pluripotent cells, cell sheet engineering, bio tooth, and hybrid tooth have been discussed. The biological, technical, and clinical challenges associated with cell based approach and future perspectives have been considered in the review.

The aim of this report is to discuss an eye-opening case about the complication in oromaxillofacial region in COVID-19 recovered youth. The aftermath of COVID infection lead to various complexities in multiple organs. Recurrent follow ups of such recovered patients are necessary to identify early dreadful effects and combat them in time. Hence, present study throws a light on one such post-COVID complication occurring in oromaxillofacial region, its pathophysiology and treatment to overcome its worsening upshot.

The coronavirus severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) belongs to the coronavirus family. It is linked to transmission from person to person. Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) was recently discovered in contaminated patients saliva. Because of the close closeness to the patient during dental care, the significant production of aerosols, and the discovery of SARS-CoV-2 in saliva, the oral cavity has been identified as a potential reservoir for COVID-19 transmission. Mouthwashes are popular because they help to reduce the amount of bacteria in the mouth. Despite the lack of clinical evidence, to minimize the amount of microorganisms in aerosols and drops during oral procedures, antimicrobial mouth rinses with chlorhexidine, cetylpyridinium chloride, povidone-iodine, Listerine, and hydrogen peroxide have been prescribed before surgery. As a result, the aim of this paper is to analyze the benefits and drawbacks of most antiseptic mouthwashes used in dentistry, as well as to provide a detailed review of current guidelines for the use of mouthwashes in the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Background: Due to the availability of proper hygiene standards and suggestions, many dental health centers fail to satisfy the minimal disease control criteria. Objective: The goal of this research was to investigate the degree of attitude, perception, and awareness of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-COV-2) and disease management among dental practitioners in Namakkal district - A prevalence study. Methods: Dental practitioner operating in Namakkal district private health center, nursing homes, and health-care organizations was included in the research population. An questionnaire survey was issued to a test group in May 2020. The participants answered a sequence of quiz about dental practitioner survey was, their deep understanding of latent period, disease symptoms, SARS-COV-2 spreading route, and disease prevention. Results: A total of 207 dental practitioner were included in this study (98 males and 109 females). While all respondents (100%) were aware of the PPE required in this situation, a small percentage (2.5%) did not prefer to use one. About 99.5% of them endorsed social isolation as a containment measure to avert this epidemic and correctly identified the age group in which the disease is most prevalent. Few respondents (81.6% and 73.9%, respectively) were aware with the specifics of vaccine development and the death rate in the worst-affected nations. Similarly, not everyone was aware of the disorders associated with this disease (91.3%) or the actions that should be educate patients. Conclusion: In general, participants possessed a reasonable/above-average level of knowledge of the virus, its transmission, prevention, and therapy (around 90-100% correct responses overall). Almost all participants endorsed sharing this information with their patients, while a few expressed reservations. This research reveals that dental practitioner had a high level of knowledge and awareness of the pandemic.
